When it doesn't sound like a Van Halen knock off it sounds like a Judas Priest knock off. I was done with the band at Heaven and Hell. Iommi cashed in but sold his ample soul for metal gold.
This album has undeservedly been called a "low point" for Sabbath. Nonsense! You've got three original members pounding away at some supremely evil riffs/grooves, tons of heavy atmosphere (seemingly piped in from Satan himself) and an over-the-top Ian Gillian going for it on every track. Only problem is the production/mix, which undermines this otherwise very inspired outing.
YES IT is the Most underated Cd , So much Talent , beyond Simpletons Comprehension . I've Listen to sabbath all my life and this has to be the most underrated there is !!!! It's there lose because they can 't understand !!!!
going to the fuckin record store today and trading in all my old shitty albums for some store credit and im gonna buy BORN AGAIN and DEHUMANIZER!!! FUCK YEAH!!!
@jlr41877 I totally agree! I saw this tour 02/22/84 St. Louis Kiel Auditorium. My first Sabbath show. I can't understand why Ian Gillan, and Tony Iommi, didn't like this album. I emailed Ian a couple of months ago asking him why he thought he was the worst Sabbath singer ever and why he didn't like this album he wrote back "hello bob, misreported many times...I love the record, hate the production. The cover is hilarious. Cheers, ig"
there are so many underrated sabbath albums, what a shame...i hate power kids screaming "paranoid, war pigs and iron man ARE black sabbath"...my god -.-
all these underrated sabbath albums like born again, seventh star, eternal idol, cross purposes etc are AMAZING!!
ian gillan hated this album cover and he hated the final mix of the album (but he liked the songs). he said he nearly puked when he saw the demonic baby on the album cover.
I would have to agree that this album is underrated. Trashed, Zero the Hero, not to mention Disturbing The Priest...not one track that I would skip over.
@dreampolice65 - Agreed! I like how you can tell which songs are Gillian inspired, hot line and Keep it warm etc. and Iommi inspired, disturbing the priest and zero the hero etc. by the lyrics. Iommi doom and gloom and gilliam about Women. This was a great mix to bad they couldnt of done more albums, but rumor was Gillian only did it to prove to deep purple his voice was ok after throat surgery and the next year DP reunited
GIllan is a god. THE best Sabbath Album hands down. DISTURBING THE PRIEST~~~~~
