This stuff was seriously good. It's very hard to describe how it tasted because it was so unique. After 7 Up cancelled this and Dnl, I pretty much banned the brand from my fridge..
i drank a lot of that. You could get it as late as 1989. It was very sweet. More like a mix of 7 up/ ginger ale and coke. no cinnamon as I would not have drank it either. a little like the italian drink Chinotto but not bitter.
I was a kid who would chug any thing with sugar, not so much now, but I liked it too! It was sweet and spicy. I would love to be able to taste it again. I bet I would have so many memories come back!
I remember this commercial & how I always wanted to try 7Up Gold but never got to. I remember someone told me it tasted like cola mixed with 7Up, but I since found out that it tasted like cinnamon, which I can't stand. It's a cool commercial though.
Has anyone been to a mall and you see those people with clipboards who ask you to watch a video, try a new product and comment on it? Well back in 1987 I was at Plaza Bonita in San Diego, Ca I was asked to try 7UP Gold before it was on the market and was paid $20.00 just to try a shot of 7UP Gold. That was 30 minutes of my life well spent.
OMG!!!! I FOUND IT!!!!! hahaha, this is Kyle Gass from Tenacious D!!! hahah this is his first professional acting gig!!! he's the waiter that walks in at :09... OMG!!! He looks different!! hahaha
Ive asked so many people and no one remembers this stuff... Me, i loved it! Bet itd be next to impossible to find it anymore tho.. Remember the commercial too.
I'm probably one of the few people who actually liked this soda. I can't remember exactly what it tasted like, but I remember liking it. Very unusual taste for a soda, to say the least.
Yep, kind of a cinnamon flavor. There was a Pepsi Holiday Spice a couple of years ago that came fairly close to the taste of 7up Gold, but of course that got pulled from the shelves as well.
You spray it on yourself? Its like axe?

I still think this would make for a good Brad Tries episode. That is, if anyone could find some 7up Gold to send him.

7UP was the best. I dont understand why they only made during the 88 olympics. They need to bring it back.

Yes, I remembered 7-up gold and the "wild thing" cover version they did for the ad campaign. I guess people preferred doctor pepper to this.

Wow, what a blast from the past...great commercial, really nasty tasting soda, as I recall.
Syntox 3 years ago
Know that it was -sweet- cinnamon, not spicy. I used to drink it all the time... through the perforations in the metal cap.
Xiado 3 years ago
May/June? I was born around that time. Those of you who remembered this, what was this flavored?
comedylover88 3 years ago
It was cinnamon flavored. Yum. The guy in the ad spraying himself with soda was my college housemate. And that's pretty much the way he was!
