Both Jazz/Rock and Progressive Rock never really got the credit they deserved as art forms. In some ways both were the best thing about the 70's. Innovative, fresh, original, inspiring. Coming back to both after many years they are still exciting to listen to and have clearly stood the test of time. Which is bottom line when it comes to determing what's art and what isn't.
Streamline is one of my favorites too. It's funny because of all of Lenny's albums it used to be my least favorite, but that's only because I hadn't given it a good listen. But once I listened to it for real, I couldn't stop listening. I met Marcus Miller outside of the Village Vanguard a few months ago and that Streamline album was one of the first things I mentioned.
Streamline was a great album. I would also offer that "Big City" and "Adventures of the Astral Pirates rate right up there too.

I HAD LENNY'S DRUMSTICK BACK IN THE 70s.
DON'T KNOW WHERE IT ENDED UP.
SAW HIM AS WITH HIS OWN BAND AT A BAR IN CLEVELAND.
LEARNED ABOUT HIM THRU 'RETURN TO FOREVER'
AWESOME PLAYER

I wish I knew Lenny White. He must be an amazing guy to hang out with. He's very sensible and intelligent.

man, the interview was too short.
Where's part 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6?
Thank you for this.
I miss Lenny White's Jazz/Rock.
I remember when Marcus Miller used to be slappin with Lenny back in the day.
Streamline is one of my all time favorite albums.
Back to good music.

I agree... someone should do a documentary on his work.
