I don't know why any of you would think that if you merely say the words "stop hating", somehow people are going to start to respect a guy that calls fist pumping and twiddling faders a 'performance'. If he had a mask on, none of you could even be sure if it was him or one of the other hundreds of thousands of people that can do this. If my band records an album, and then I go to a club and put the cd in and push 'play', that is NOT a performance.

It takes a certain amount of skill to create the music he does and to mix in front of a live audience

Please, I DON'T know anything about DJing, could you please enlighten me as to what he does in this video that is just so impressive. Maybe I was exaggerating a touch, but really, watch this whole vid and tell me what it is that he does that none of us could learn in a week or less.

This dude doesn't scratch, so he's not a turntablist (which is just toying with other peoples music, not making music), and he actually does not play any instruments. Looping a drum track and sampling sounds doesn't make him a professional musician. I'd at least have some respect for him if he could scratch. He's a record player-player. There is no performance here. Go watch a live rock show and see what performing is.
