This is real 60s style music. Omg I love the way it sounds, it's so perfect, I wish I was born in that era. I know on these videos it might be a cliche but it's true! I was born in the wrong era!
I know Neil Sedaka did it first, but is this the first cover version? Considering that Neil's original and Shelley's cover both cam out in 1962, it seems to me that Shelley was the first to do a cover of this song.
aaaahhhh... the late 50s and early 60s... when America was at it's BEST! Teenagers knew their place and nudity on TV and the movies was just unheard of. We need more good upstanding morals like we had back then... not that Britney/Christina/Miley/Madonna CRAP we've had to endure of the past 25 years!
@kerryincolumbus Yeah I especially liked the spectre of nuclear oblieration hanging over everyone's heads. Infact, what with even more states having nuclear weapons, it's like we've time travelled back! All we need to do to make it feel authentic is lynch some black people, when we're not refusing them admission to parks, buses and schools, have mental wars in foreign countries and then shoot those silly enough to protest them, even if they are students. What swell times!
@david419224 ...this is the digital version taken from my 45 rpm record...so it may not be great...a product of my mediocre conversion program. Sorry.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
I remember this! Thank you for bringing it to all the YouTubers. Oh, when music was not about hate, ugliness, violence and bigotry. We really had a good time dancing then. Poor kids of today; I feel for them as they will never know the innocence of that time period.
@B52sguy You are so right. Looking back on that time it seems we were on another planet. I suppose the "gentleness" was an antidote to the world war that had not long preceded it
@B52sguy wellll all the cool kids know this music:) im 17, i love this music. I listen to the beetles, little richard, otis redding, jackson 5, i love this music
@B52sguy There are some kind who were raised right and still know right from wrong and have impeccable music taste, Such as my 20-something self. Don't give up hope ;D
@BridgetteNicole89 Thanks for your reply. I'm happy that young adults of today still wish to listen to the "beginning" of understanding about life. We have come a long way in almost 50 years. Man, I had such a crush on Shelley. We're talking serious duty crush.
@B52sguy its sad when you think of it that way. but at least were not being oppressed, think about it, the 50's were very hard for anyone (especially teenagers) that didnt into a specific category, as white, christian, and following the social norms. today, we can at least have more freedom, and al kind sof people now have a hope for a successful future
@scotfreak Actually real Christians have never been popular in the world, even in america. Agree 100% that the change since those days has been the fall of a once great nation.. but WE ARE NOT DONE YET.
@skaha65 this isnt necessarily about christianity, just the incredibly strict social standards of the time that a lot of young people couldnt fit into and ended tragically, now there is much more acceptance with peoples shortcomigns and allows these people to flurish, so not all of the change is bad, certainly in the way we treat children and minorities is much better. i know for a fact i would have been thrown to the side in the 50's, but todayim a young person who is quite successful
@scotfreak Nah! If you are making it now, you'd have prospered then too. A winning attitude is better than a B. Sc. Just ignore the 'experts' and u will do just fine.
@skaha65 maybe, but probably not, i have autism, people like me were considered retards and it was "our fault" even today i have a hard enough time in society i couldnt possibly imigine living back then. and what if someone was gay, or black, back then they had NO chnace to do anything, it was a very strict and rigid social system, anyone who thinks the 50's were a good time socially probably will vote for santorum, some other marvin milktoast
@scotfreak U don't sound 'retarded' at all. 50's were bad if you were black. Ok, and if you were gay.. I was just 12 when Sputnik went up. so the 60's were my thing. Glad you are rockin' along ok
@skaha65 hahaha thank you, but do remember the 50's had no inderstanding of mental illnesses or learning disabilities, i even saw a 50s psa that taught girls how to be proper, and it was just sick what kind of a standard they held them to. there are lots of people who dont fit the norm, and in the 50's those people yelled at or even hit by their teachers, then again those kids usually became CEOs and billionaires. but im glad you grew up in the 60s, a much better time.
@scotfreak I will agree that there was a lot less known than there is now. I am not crazy about the 'modern' psychology that sticks hea meds into everyone, though. In fact I sometimes think the doctors are working for Merck and Pfizer. I remember one teacher used to hit students. That ended when someoone who knew how to fight broke the teacher's nose, and jaw with just two punches. Not bad for a 150 pound guy 5-9. Some folks just get mad when you slap them in the face. We applauded him, too
@B52sguy Kids don't dance. they MOSH pit. Ugh. My nieces (all 25-38) love dancing the two step, hand jive. and I taught it to them. Took about 20 minutes.
omg my 6th grade teacher said we had a science lesson on ''breaking up'' and she mean how the continents were splitting and she went on youtube and put this song on and started hysterically dancing it was so funny xD
@EpicDog572 Your comment is so right on the mark! My 6th grade teacher, Good old Mrs Emsley still listens to YT. May your 6th grade teacher be blessed for ever.
