  • Was there any surprise that the reply was a lie? I'm not surprised. The reply on road.cc is full of common mistakes from a typical road user. One who notably believes the car is king. Yes, a cyclist should be aware of the road around them - this is a given. Yet an auto-mobile driver has the greater responsibility to allow those around them time and space to manoeuvre, without putting lives at risk. If you can't maintain this simple responsibility then you shouldn't be licensed to drive.

  • Cycling in Britain today - 1) total lack of proper infrastructure, so 2) forced to share the road with 3) motorists who don't think you belong there. And you wonder why most people don't cycle!

  • @D1RTEEB

I almost got taken out by a car today that passed too close to me because I had been cycling on the side of the road, and they decided to squeeze past in. Immediately after that I decided to check behind me, and take the lane. Funnily enough no more cars almost took me out.

Without the cyclist taking the lane, some car users put us at risk. However very few car drivers will actually run into the back of a cyclist purposively. Taking the lane, to make yourself clearly visible, is safer.

  • @givecyclistsroom looks like an interesting read but maybe you have misinterpreted some of its intentions.

"competent cyclists are much less likely to be involved in a conflict"

"very often conflicts could be avoided altogether by the cyclist riding more diligently"

"a cyclist is too vulnerable to follow rigid rules irrespective of the risk"

"There is also little doubt that most cyclists could do more to make themselves safer, for they often make conditions more difficult than they need be"

  • It sounds to me like he calls you a f*cking c*nt at 5:45 (when you pass him back) and also yells something (c*nt again?) at 7:07.

    A sustained verbal barrage.

If anything the audio seems slightly clearer at the moment of threat - I can certainly hear the words "I'm gonna..." at 8:37.

  • go to the old bill

  • just a chav with small man syndrome .
