  • whats that song called at 3:16???

  • I don't think this is a sloppy montage at all. The footage is very good and there is a reason for any operations that are undertaken at any fire. How easy is it to comment when You werent even there?. too easy and very ignorrant. Great footage.

  • shit go help ass hole haha jk

  • Kudos to you guys out there fighting fires. The risks firefighters take every time they get called out should be commended and not criticized. It's hard freakin' work! Keep in mind the video was shot from down the street, one viewpoint, not attached to the fire fighter's helmet allowing you to see the whole picture.

To think I almost lost a dear friend in this fire, makes my chest hurt.

  • I would hope, that, in the future, people reserve their criticisms until after they know the full story. ESPECIALLY if you are a firefighter...we are brothers and sisters and should respect one another enough not to talk trash without knowing the Big Picture. I think we all hate Armchair Chiefs equally...

Last but not least, feel free to ask any questions of me.

  • Well, I was there, so here's the complete story....

The fire was reported by passing drivers and a patrolling cop who saw smoke coming out the back of the house from 2 blocks away.

The 1st in company took an attack lead through the front door to find the seat of the fire and push it out the back of the house. The 2nd in Engine took a hydrant within 1min of the 1st arrival and the 3rd in Engine(mine)was on scene within 2min of first arrival and we took a backup lead in through the front door

  • The house was fully charged with smoke from floor to ceiling and the heat from the fire in the basement could be easily felt through the floor. The jist of this is that the fire started in the basement and due to the balloon-construction of the house, the fire travelled from the basement, up the inside of the walls and into the attic, meaning the reason we could not find the seat of the fire was because it was surrounding us on the inside. There was no interior access to the basement.

  • The first in company exited out the back after running low on air searching the interior. On their way out, they found the fire buring through the floor and vents in the rear kitchen/dining area, reported it to us and we made our way there. Upon arrival the floor had burned out enough to cause Rollover conditions in that part of the house. We defensively withdrew and the entire center of the house flashed over.

  • Meanwhile, outside, another engine company had taken a 3rd attack lead to the outside basement access through the garage/carport. The basement stairwell they were in flashed over the same time the 1st floor flashed. The difference here is that two of them were caught in the flashover as they ran out the basement stairwell. Fortunately, they were just cooked a little and were not injured.

Outside, the Ladder crew ventilated the roof...

  • After the flashover, all crews were withdrawn and a P.A.R was taken. Once all personnel were accounted for, the IC gave the order to go defensive.

the people standing at the corner of the house are the R.I.T. or Rapid Intervention Team. Their job is to stand there at the ready in case of a firefighter emergency.

Fire scene tape is set up after the fire is out. Roads were blocked by the PD and they also kept the people out of our way.

  • What you do not see is that 5 different leads were putting water on the fire from the front back and side yards opposite the camera. Due to the nature of Ballon construction fires, anyone knowledgeable in building construction can tell you that due to the amount of time the fire had before being reported, that building was a total loss before we even arrived. The aerials were set for the public because they did not understand why were not rushing inside to put the fire out.

  • WHATIZ YOUR CONNECTION WITH SCHLEUFER?? o_O

  • Deep.

But even Google will tell you that off the top.

  • oh xD

    you're my uncle

  • SNIPER!!!

  • Oh, by the way, killer drum work on the Maiden today.

    UP THE IRONS, SCHIBBIE!!!

  • is anyone even bothering to fight the fire? i see lots of firefighters out front and walking around, i dont see any with packs on either.............. oh here they go, finally settin up a ladder at 3:15. the truck say there how long before they set it up? i mean i could be missin a lot since this was cut up and stuff but that's what it looks like to me.

  • It's cut pretty badly. Here's what I know:

Very early in the initial response a few fighters were hurt inside the house so they pulled everyone out, did a head count, and then let that sucker burn.

Of course, they called every truck in the state over to watch the occasion--or just to make sure it didn't get out of hand and take out half the city.

None of this is credible or factual, it's just what I got from the Spokesman-Review.

Entertaining for the neighborhood, if nothing else.

  • sad. typical comment from an arrogant shit who doesnt appreciate the work involved at a fire.

  • excuse me? were you talking to me? im a firefighter/emt i know what work is involved at a fire douchebag, so dont run your mouth.

  • well you must be pretty new then cause u obviously dont understand what a MANPOWER pull is. Typically that means that all personel group at a certain point for orders. Go to fireschool lil boy. And for your personal information ive been fighting fires since you were sucking on ur moms teet so I can run my mouth when I feel like it.

  • ya aren't you a big bad man, runnin your mouth on youtube making yourself look like a moron. Way to represent your department well :)

  • also idiot look how long they're standing there, you'd think they'd wanna put the fire out instead of gathering at the corner of the fence standing there. there's been 4 different frames so far and they're still standing there. if they're not gonna go interior why not establish an exterior attack?

  • sad. Im afraid im not going to argue with a 16 year old. Go to fire school and you may actually learn a little something

  • 1st of all Im older then 16 and 2nd of all the only thing you have said in the defense of these firefighters is that they'll group up to get orders. That's great, but where the hell in this entire video do you see an attack line spraying water? Do you even know what you're talking about? So far you havent made 1 valid point, but please mr fire wizard tell me why they're just standing there the whole video? Share your vast knowledge with all of us cause I for 1 think you're full of shit.

  • WOW at 1.15 the fire dampens down. Not to make the probie look bad, but usually when the fire dampens down, water is being applied.

  • Like i said, go to school, learn about firefighting, and be safe out there. As far as I can see the only thing that is wrong in this scene is that there is no barrier tape. Maybe they had no probies on scene.

  • lol ya ok
