I love each one because they both have their own unique good and bad qualities. Hakuouki I think has better animation and I like how they designed the characters better, but it lacks in comedy I find where it would fit in nicely. PMK is very well done with comedy, but the animation isn't as well done as Hakuouki, plus they made Okita too feminine and Saito too creepy! I like both of their plots though!
I know most of the peaple will choose Hakuoki, but for me PMK is the best, characters are so much tasty, and the human feelings that Nana chronoe put in all those man, i just love it. (Obviously the manga is better). So PMK forever. Souji daisuki!
U know.. Okita's my favourite historical person and PMK made him more similar to reality. And PMK animation style is better to me.. not even animation, plot seems more serious. It's just me, sorry.
@UchihaDedere That's debatable, actually. Okita's personality is closer to what people think Okita's character was and usually is in mangas and such, but actually he was a rather shy person and was only really happy and cutesy around Saitou and Kondou. He was still cutesy but not to sucha degree. Plus, Saizou is not real even though it makes me want to cry.
In Hakuouki Okita's character is a bit closer to history. One, he's not cutsey and happy most of the time, and two, he doesn't have any sort of bloodlust like Okita from PMK. You see, Okita never really liked killing he just did it because he thought it was best for Japan. I hope I don't sound snooty, but I study Okita thouroughly and my Japanese friend, Mika-san confirmed this. WHich makes me very happyt because that means I actually do know something about Okita ^^ GO SOU-CHAN!!!!!
i like both ~~~ but if i choose ... i'll choose Okita in PMK ...
i love okita of pmk especially when he became serious, i was like "dude, that is hella cool ~!"

..This is actually up for debate? PMK --> Better characters & better plot beats better animation. Although I wouldn't mind seeing it remade.
