  • I like how a mac can run Windows and Windows can't run a mac.

  • can i run windows game on this?

  • @TheRockNinja1 yea

  • why not just get virtual box for free? i dont get paying for the exact same thing

  • can you play games with parallels

  • @lockergnome Does the virtual machine OS have to be a 32-bit, 64-bit, or does it even matter?

  • Brilliant amazing tut

  • Parallels came to our office in Los Angeles for a demo. The Parallels VP of Sales David Feldman showed up at our office drunk and smelling of wine. He talked for 20 minutes straight about things like how he invented texting and other nonsense. We will never have parallels back.

  • Umm ya the reason why we"Fanboys" have to put windows on or awesome computers. Is because for the the most part we are forced to. Wether it be work related or because we need to run software that is not made for our awesome macs. Windows still sucks compared to mac os x.

  • I'm getting a macBook from school around chrismas. They don't want us to install some windows things on the computer because the amount/risk of virus. Is this software dangerous for me?

  • im planning on getting 4gb of ram and a 500gb HD and parallels on my macbook...yea im a mac fan boy but why the hell would you not want the best of both worlds?

  • oh fuck your fucking voice

  • I'll be honest my Mac ain't perfect, but I still love it. It need Windows for Games and Computer Programming. So having a Mac is nice, you get the best of both worlds.

  • Great video. I am amazed how smooth parallels is compared to VM Ware Fusion.

It helps to have 8 GB of RAM in my mbp.... :D

  • This App is great but I can't seem to find a windows only App that I would use as all the Apps I use Are Mac only (iLife, Logic Pro Studio, Aperture and Final Cut Pro Studio) or the Apps I use are hybrid (ones that work in both OS X & Windows like Reason 4, Ableton Live, Microsoft Office, Skype) I never used a PC so I don't know PC only Apps. So I will be uninstalling Paralells and getting back some disc space.

  • i swear over 50% of the people who get this is for fruity loops. mac is the one stop shop for creating music but for whatever reasons fruity loops wont port :(

  • fuckin sweet!

  • Do you have to buy the windows 7 CD?. Where did you get that iso image thing

  • if i install something in windows does it take up my mac hard drive or do i set a certain amount to the machine

  • @thunder1205 no it doesn't. Anything you plan to save on the windows side, make sure to back it up on a jump drive. but make sure your running at least 4gb of ram, because it needs i think 1 or 2 gb to run smoothly.

  • I'm gonna have to do this just to get proper msn on my Mac lol that's the only Windows program I need.

  • who would pay 80$ you cud do this free i did in about a day

  • Thanks for the review. 2 questions. Can you drag and drop files between Mac and the virtual environment and how do the files run in terms of resource hog programs versus using Bootcamp.

  • Do you get a dollar every time you say specify or something?... joking.

Very good helpful tutorial, you should be one of the people who give the background information on adverts for computers! Gd vid

  • Very helpful. Thanks!

  • wtf why arent ANY of my comments show up!?

  • Great video. Very helpful. Good job.

  • Nice video!

  • I use windows for games other than that it's total garbage

  • @Alhambrattp I disagree.

Windows is OK. But it's everywhere therefore useful and convenient.

    Mac is great.

Linux is awesome if your head can keep up with it knowledge.

  • Lol, all mac fanboys are shouting ''Windows is fucking bad'' while they eventually all have Windows installed on their Macs.

    :P

  • I think the idea they have is "Macfans want Windows programs on a Mac." Most programs in the computer community are Windows exclusive, but Windows is prone to viruses. Therefore, Parallels was created to make this connection visually possible.

Can you still get viruses with Windows even with Parallel?

  • @esetorsido I love how you say that "windows is prone to viruses" and then go on to ask "Can you even get viruses with Parallel", one, Viruses are almost extinct with windows, you're never going to get a "virus" without being a total jack ass, and two, of course a Virtual Machine can get viruses, it's just emulation, not a giant virus protector. It shows how much you really know of what you're talking about.

  • Right... (sarcasm)

Seriously, I know Macs can't get viruses. It's Windows on a Mac that makes me wonder whether a Mac is safe.

  • for that 5% users hackers don't want to lose time for creating virus because 94 % users have windows :D

  • Yes, windows is still installed on your computer, so you still need to watch out..

  • @WackoX1337 I assume they have to install it for programs that do not have a Mac version (Visual Studio, Expression Web, Etc...)

  • @WackoX1337

haha typicall idiot >D They install it for different reasons. But not be cause windows is better. In fact windows sucks, win7 less, but still.

  • Comment removed

  • @WackoX1337 not because we want to. because we're forced to. there's some games/software that was developed only for Windows. Ya, we're forced to use Windows, but that doesn't mean we like it.

  • @WackoX1337 Just because we need to operate some xex files (:

  • @WackoX1337 because some people are still releasing programs for only windows and we need to use those programs....

  • @WackoX1337 The reason being for that one app that we can't get away from because it's Windows proprietary and most of the time we cringe when we have to use it. Funny thing is we can legitimately run Windows on our Macs, you can't legitimately run OSX on your Windows machine and in most cases our Macs run Windows better than any other PC. We get the best of both words.

  • @shanecbryson Not really. I have a Windows machine and don't have the need to run OSX.

  • @WackoX1337

Not all of them. I think both OS's are awesome though.

  • @WackoX1337 We like gaming. We also like computers that work.

  • LOL 15:10 - Fattie

  • Great screen cast, it answered all my questions. thank you

  • yes you can, but they run much slower

  • Can you play windows only games on it?

  • upgrade to 4GB (or if you have a 2008 macbook pro unibody then 3GB cause 4GB will cause hanging problems due to faulty nvidia chipsets).. but 2GB ain't enough if you run VMs to run OS X efficiently

  • Hi,

what Screencast Software do you use on that cast?

    Greets

  • screenflow

  • Screenflow

  • @4:20 Windows uses C: as a designation of the "main drive" too...

    Apple users are so pretentious.

  • i can use the same windows 7 on boot camp and parallels?

  • yep

  • can we play games on it ?

  • What happens if you get a virus on your windows partition of a virtual machine. I assume it only affects the partition but are there some than can effect the whole macintosh hd.

  • @chunkybrit21

I don't think that could happen..Yes it is running windows but the Mac's HD's are still formatted the same way as before you had parallels..I don't think it can change the formatting of the HD..I might be wrong though.. Good question=)

  • Thanks. I think i might install windows 7 now i know it wont ruin my mac.

  • ME gonna star tutorials :)!

  • yo bwana good to see you on chris channel gunna watch bdor next :P

  • HAHAHAHAH matSHITa >XD

  • " I know you Windows users are like, ahh why do you call it a C: drive" ... WTF noob primary hard disk is called the C: drive in windows too ;P

I kid with love... but seriously lol

  • its not called a C: Drive in mac os x... the default is Macintosh HDD (Im pretty sure he was talking about windows itself...

  • i think he was aying we'd be confused because it isn't called C: on macs.

  • It is inane to say that windows users could not adapt to the primary drive being called something other than C:...

    again, I repeat,

    Mac users are pretentious...

  • Wow, you guys got waayy too much time on your hands. It was a simple statement. I mistakingly called the Mac home disk the "C drive". Windows users should know Macs don't have a C drive. So why would Bwana say that? Wow. Calm down.

  • @ iobuffa, I totally agree with you

  • Thanks for the review. I have been using VMWare Fusion 2, and I was having doubts on whether to switch to Parallels. Thank you, again.

  • Very good. Easy to understand, he explains everything clearly, and says everything nice ans slow. Perfect.

  • Very good. A clear five star. But also far to long.

  • cool!

  • what the hell buana u got ur own channel...!!

  • thats what you come up when you cant play MW2 on your mac.

  • Maybe thats because Microsoft licenses other vendors to use their OS, while Apple does not. Lmao.

  • Like Coo said, it's a hardware thing, for the most part. As far as I know, to get Mac running on a PC, you need specific motherboards, and you have to have an intel processor. Mac OS is designed for a fairly strict hardware set, while Windows is designed to run on a wider range of hardware, albeit with less stability.

  • Can you run an older Mac OS in parallels?

  • i dont thing so !

  • yup yup

  • I Agree

  • I'm sure Microsoft aren't complaining, it's brilliant for Microsoft if mac users are still buying Windows... one of the reasons OSX is so good is because it has specific hardware, etc. If you took that away you're more likely to encounter problems, etc. and it wouldn't be the real experience. It seem we pay an 'Apple Tax' when we buy things from apple, things can seem a little expensive, but they are well built, etc and I think Apple are getting hungry for money now and loosing their focus a bit!

  • Nice!

  • I thought this looked like a lockerz invite thing i was like nooo not chris too

  • Yikes! You called the system drive C!

    Graagh!

  • woot!

  • Nice. If only mac was 25% cheaper.

  • but wasn't buying a mac something you did to get away from windows?

  • yes, but lets say if you where you work or go to school requires you to have a windows machine but you already have a mac. instead of buying a new pc you can get parallels and install windows XP, or windows 7 on your mac.

  • or you could use bootcamp like a normal person :P

  • lol true.

  • To be fair it's always nice to have options.

  • @richmeister4eva Yes, but if you still hace some apps that you want to use this is a great way to do both on one machine

  • @richmeister4eva No, buying a Mac was about getting away from IBM. See the 1984 (appropriate) advert.

  • @hisveggieness you'd think so but apple constantly say that the reason for getting a mac is to get away from all the "hassle" of windows

  • @richmeister4eva - It's nice to be able to use a good computer to program using Microsoft Visual Studio though. :P

  • @richmeister4eva Buying a mac is something you do to use both.

  • I didn't know you do screencasts too Bwana, but I gotta say great job as always man.

    :)

  • Damn I just remembered that you've done plenty.

    lol

I'm just too used to the face to camera talks I guess.

Anyway I love your vids. :D

  • Nice demonstration of parallels.

    5/5

  • This guy watches Bleach, His HDD is called Ichigo :)

  • Pretty Clean Review. Good job. 5 stars.

  • Thanks Bwana for the Review/Tutorial. Awesome job

  • great review

  • great review, thanks

  • do all windows program run as normal??

because i use my windows computer as a crimeson server , similar to irc server , but run ths microsoft ocx.

is one of the reasons i don't change to mac

  • lol yea. Macs are stupid machines. So pointless to buy one. If you love Mac so much, buy a PC and install Mac OSX onto it. You pay less money, and get a faster computer if you do it yourself.

If this is too much for you, then it is proof Mac users are retards incapable of appreciating real computers.

  • LOL your not a computer guy i see, if you where you wouldn't say that

  • lol, u cant install macosx on a PC ==

  • @94XiaoWanPi yes you can buddy. I have it on my laptop and on my desktop for testing purposes. I to tech support for Mac users occasionally, so I need to be familiar with OSX.

  • No...you can't.

  • @jihadjared How can you get a faster computer? I know of many hackintoshes that have issues left and right and it takes awhile to get the issues cranked out. You run into driver issues, software imcompatibility issues, and you'll get no customer support with a hackintosh. Apple customer support is worth it alone. If they're stupid machines then why do they literally own 91% of the 1000+ machine market share and so many professionals use them? Why is the market share gaining so much world wide?

  • lol @ShakeAndBakeGuy. You get a faster computer, buy buying fast parts and assembling your own system for allot less.

My desktop contains parts that are about 10-30% faster than those parts offered in the high end Mac desktops.

But I paid a fraction of what a Mac would have cost.

IE: $1500 desktop, or a $3000 Mac desktop with weaker specs!

I have no hardware incompatibilities with my OSX installation because as a PC user, I make sure I get the appropriate parts.

    Other people? O well lol.

  • @jihadjared I'm not an advanced user nor am I a beginner but for average users who have no idea how to get appropriate parts and just want a computer with less viruses, Macs are for them. For advanced users, making a hackintosh may be fine if you have time to find the parts/drivers and have no customer care. When it comes down to it, there are only so many advanced/intermediate users that could do so. Just because you can create a hackintosh without issues, doesn't mean Macs stupid.

  • @jihadjared hey thanks i didnt know that :)

  • very good job.

    -Rome

  • 5 Star

  • One mouse button...LOL!

  • still not the same as having windows, but it's pretty cool for basic stuff.

i think if money wasn't an option i'd much rather have a kickass mac and a kickass windows machine.

  • cool review

  • Great work Bwana ;)

  • Cool great job

  • Great Job Bwana 8-)

  • first

  • I win.

  • First...lol
