This dog is a darling.....so good and friendly natured....I was watching previous videos with Victoria training dogs and oh my goodness...the dogs are out of control...and then to click on this video and see a completely different better behaved dog.....it's like a breath of fresh air from when you've just come from being exposed to other videos that are so chaotic...and its not the dogs fault..its what the owners allow....intentionally or not.

As you probably know the word inhumane means lacking and reflecting lack of pity or compassion. i find it very counter-productive if CM doesn't show compassion towards his... 40+? dogs he works with. After all if he didn't he would not be a dog rehabilitator in the first place.

@biscuitbuilder Ah, but this is exactly it. On the show you are led to believe they are all his. Unfortunately, they aren't. His centre (which is now shut down) was used as a boarding kennel too and many of those dogs weren't his. Also, for the sake of TV, you wouldn't put unsociable dogs together. His methods do work, but are short-term (this has been statistically proven) and result in many adverse reactions. Just look up the controversy. I promise you, it will not take long for you to see.

@NattieChristopher Tell me about it. In the rescue centre I work at I socialise with a number of Pit Bulls when they come in. It's heart-wrenching to be sitting there, with them on your lap or running around playing with other dogs, and to know that when Mr Police Man comes round and identifies them as Pit types and their 7 days are up in kennels, that they will be put down. Rotties still get it in the neck too, unfortunately.

@mydogkanskidrums 1. You couldn't get in touch with the East Galway Animal Rescue? Search for it on the web. They provide sanctuary for Pit Bulls and Pit Bull types. They provided a forever home for Bruce, the Pit Bull who was callously taken from his family and locked up for over 2-years in some animal control compound. Despite being severely neglected there, he remained a friendly non-aggressive dog.

I suppose I'm partly a victim of the media in that regard, but they scare the bejaysus out of me I must say! I agree though, it's high time the ban was reviewed; for example, why are wolves on the 'so-called 'Dangerous Dogs' list when they're actually rather timid by nature?

Also, when a dog jumps up and down excitedly and tries to jump on you it's trying to show dominance. Humans totally misread animal behavior. it does work actually over time dogs can understand and take in that something they're doing while they're with the person is wrong or considered wrong to the person. I've done this with my dog on him jumpnig up and down when i walk in the door so when he jumps i go back out and then i come back in. With other people after about 1 week of doing this for about 15minutes or 20 minutes he's completely stopped but he jumps when they take off their shoes

moondreamer68 - your right I have never had a dog that obsessively licked & I am sure that it can be very anxiety producing or frustrating however I did listen/watched carefully. I did not hear any qualification that the dog licked excessively, that the funiture was ruined ,that the owners had tried any other solutions like a visit to the vet to see if the dog had a medical issue. I also only observed the animal give the "trainer" a small lick not the behaviour that you describe.

@Silvia1826 here's the thing. humans have aids herpes and shit like that. dogs eat garbage an' decayin' things. dogs can't transfer over their illness to people an' the same goes for the people. so the answer is yes or no. if a dog licks its ass than its mouth isn't cleaner at that moment. they lick their wounds because it gets rid of dead tissue, not because their mouths are cleaner. a bite from either would be full of bad germs.
