  • You guys should have beat Legacy that year... Just saying haha

  • I kind of miss this show... I can't even remember my croatale (spelling?) solo anymore. D= You need to get your mom to record this year's show too. Hopefully we won't screw up our section solo...

  • I'm a Junior at Rampart and I've got to say that our marching band is awesome. I gotta say good luck to Marcus Yetter, David Maxon and the rest of the Regimen in london.

  • Yeah, I'm a sophomore in the band, and I'm looking forward to the trip beyond belief. Thanks so much for your well-wishing! It means a ton. :)

  • @Samureye211 Hey there contradiction!!! XD

  • Hey thanks man! It's always nice to hear that we have some support from other students at Rampart! Sure means alot.

  • lol well, i go to Rampart, so i should get the picture ;) Im not good enough for the band so i play for the hopless soccer team lol. Still think the band is better than Air Academy's and shoulda got a better score (even though it was pretty dang good already) Yah, i donno why they cancelled that assembly, u guys could use some recognition. RR!!!!

  • lol if the football team actually won a game, maybe we would care. But they suck...badly. All u guys do is run ur heads into other guys, at least the band is good, when they get invited to ENGLAND to play in the world's largest parade and the football team cant even get to states, thats something. Good job Band kids!

  • Thanks so much! That really means a ton when it comes to the big picture. :) Our school is pretty much bitter because the sport that "isn't a sport" is the best team in the district (aside from Air Academy's band, they kick ass). Not to sound as if I'm downgrading on the other sports, or my administration, but last year, they canceled our congratulations pep assembly because we lost state. We placed second and only lost to Legacy by 0.8. It goes to show where America's attention is these days.

  • Wow, your show is great!

I've just been looking at all the high school bands for district 20, since my dad has been stationed at the Air Academy for a few years. I come from Ocean springs, MS and our band has gotten superiors during the marching contests for almost 32 years. Just was looking at all the high school bands and wondering what school i'd want to go to :P

Well, maybe i'll see yall next year.

  • That's awesome! We love people. RHS is also a really great school. This year's show is going to be great, too, we have a professional on music (which I've heard part of, and it's jawdroppingly amazing), a national judge on drill (so he'll write what judges want to see), and some of the top percussion and color guard instructors in the world. Yeah, but like I said, we like people! =D

  • That's cool!

We don't have any of those professionals but our band director is amazing :D

So hows the concert season scene?

  • In all honesty, it depends. We have three tiers of bands. There's concert band, symphonic/jazz bands, and wind ensemble/advanced jazz. The Wind Ensemble and Advanced Jazz are indescribably amazing, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band are pretty good, but not as good as the top, and concert band is... Well, I was in concert band this year, it was terrible. =[ You have to audition to get into any higher than concert, unfortunately. We don't quite have a season, it's an in school class.

  • Ah sounds like mine, Varsity band full of 9th graders, and Concert band full of people who sucked in varsity band, and Symphonic band which is amazing :D

I was in my middle school's jazz band as well and was the bass trombone for them :P

  • Nice, nice. I was in the concert band this year, as has said. Our audition results came back for next year, and somehow I managed to make the wind ensemble on bari sax. o.o I'm still awestruck over it, I really didn't think I was good.

  • I was there working. I was the doorman so I didn't get to see any shows that day :<

  • =[ Did you get to hear any of them, though? That would be enough for me.

  • Rampart's show was great, I loved the whole theme of the show :).

I'm a freshman flute player (... well sophomore once the summer starts) at Legacy :).

  • Ah, your show is great also. Super grats on state. =]

  • one of my good friends moved from KY to colorado and marched in this show its great!

  • That's awesome, thanks. May I ask what instrument your friend plays?

  • You guys look and sound awesome. I was in the RHS marching band all 4 years in high school (Labyrinth - The Great Escape). I am really impressed. Way to go!

  • Labyrinth was before the Hypar Effect, right? This is my freshman show, and I'm really enjoying it. What did you play?

  • Yep. Labyrinth was the show before Hypar Effect. I was in the baritone section.

  • Cool. =] I don't know any of the names except the four before me and Medusa...

  • Wow that vocalist solo person did a really good job! Its sorta cool watching this because my school's band's show is based off of Aspen Jubilee too so your show sounds a lot like our show. You guys did a great job!

  • Ooh, that's really cool!

Everybody's complimenting Marie. =] The DCMI show wasn't nearly our best, though. Were you at BOA? Which band are you?

  • No, I was not there. Our BOA competition is in NYC this saturday. We're leaving tomorrow. Search for "SFHS Pickens" on youtube. That's us. Our show has vastly improved since then, but the video is good enough. I'm sure you'll notice tons of similarities.

  • Awesome. =]

  • Awesome show

I watched you guys at BOA and you were great.

and your soloist (a flute player I believe) was AMAZING. She has got to be one of the best vocalists I've ever heard.

  • Thanks so much. Which band were you with in St. Louis? I agree, Marie (the singer, piccolo actually) is the most captivating singer I've ever met. She's a great person, too. =]

  • I'm from Belleville East.

We were the first band to go on. It was the worst position possible. We walked into the stadium and there were about a dozen people in the audience... sigh. But we performed our show BUGZ pretty well.

It was mainly a learning experience for us. We usually don't participate in BOA, so afterwards we got to see some amazing bands like you guys.

and btw, tell Marie she gets some serious props from everyone at Belleville East. We all thought she was out of this world.

  • That's pretty awesome. I sure will tell her you said that. =]

I'm getting the DVDs for the prelims and finals. I can't wait to see your's, now. =]

  • I play Baritone at Legacy and Im a junior and there is only 2 baritiones in our band XD heh

  • Only two? Really? We have probably 11 at Rampart. Maybe. I don't think I've counted lately, I'm a saxophone. =]

  • Whoo! Go Rampart! Legacy really did great too, and I was SURE we were gonna come in second/third to them... Heh, they're Color Guard had awesome work, though. It looks pretty hard compared to ours sometimes. 8D

  • You would know. =P I thought the finals uniforms were SO FREAKING SHINY! I loved them! lol

It was like... Black, and then they turn around and it's all bright and shiny and like WOAH!

  • I know! Except I think you have it backwards. It was shiny on the FRONT. like, look, SHINY! *tunr around* Just kidding!" I loved them so much! And they had PANTS. not 'unitard pants' or what we have, but actual PANTS. And the flags kicked butt!! =D

  • Yeah. That's what I meant, I didn't say front or back.

  • Good job with your show Rampart. I'm from Legacy too and all we really want is some friendly competition. If we come off as being cocky, then I apologize. I hope that we can start having more positive outlooks towards each other's bands.

  • I hope so, too. I'm a freshman this year and I hear other people talk about how we 'have to' beat Legacy, and stuff like that. It made me wonder, ya know, 'What the heck did Legacy do to deserve that?' Your show was awesome.

  • @xRyanDaReaperx I feel bad for not knowing kids in other marching bands in my district. >.< if you're still in Legacy than good luck this year! I heard you guys got some serious budget cuts. =[

  • You guys are an awsome band I give you guys props. I love your shows. Dont ruin your rep as a great band.

  • My sincere apologies.

I'm guessing you're from Legacy? If so, you guys did amazing as well. We were so positive you'd have been way ahead of us.

Pride got the better of me, and I do apologize.

  • You guys did a good job and all but you dont talk about other bands behind their backs expecially mine.

  • Boo-Yah! Go Rampart!

  • (:

    yay!

  • HELL YEA! We kicked legacy's cocky ass :P
