@TheDJVAQ Ha, yeah I decided to buy an X100, which took any available lens buying cash for the time being... For the EOS I mostly just use the cheap, but very good EF50 f1.8. Cheap, junkie feeling build quality, but excellent results. Quite sharp, with nice bokeh wide open, and no CA.

Personally have this lens,the lens doesn't sharp at wide open,

quite soft around f/1.8-f/2,

f/2.8 would be acceptable quality,

up to f/4.0 is sharp.

if any people thinks they can use this lens for "crop sensor 50mm 1.8" think twice. cause the price diffrence you pay instead of 50mm 1.8 and little more could upgrade your camera to full frame camera. and this lens is quite soft wide open. it won't create better image than plasticky 50mm 1.8 on full frame.

@joeyisfunny the 50 has more glass and you lose a little bit of light every time it pass through glass. In example, highend filmmakers measure lenses in T-stops because it is more accurate to the amount of light than f-stops and it's important to keep the same brightness from scene to scene.

It's a pity it has no Image stabilizer for filming... I'd like to see a lens with image stabilization with a big aperture for low light to use in my EOS 550D because my sigma F1.4..

BTW latest (or maybe next build) Magic Lantern firmware for EOS now allows to select 1/25 exposure in movie mode that gives a bit better low light performance ;)

Not the best video, but I can attest that the 28 1.8 is a great lens. Pretty soft wide open, but usable at f2 and sharpens nicely once stopped down.  Great value for the price.
