@rss313.i disagree, brand was influenced by Hicks, which means that Hicks taught him which means hes the master, Brand is a good comedian and hes done a few films but those films are a lot better because hes in them, hes a marketable characters just because hes good looking and cool and can appeal to todays demographic.he cant help be famous.russels appearance is part of himself and his self expression and his comedy.but i do agree that you cant compare them, but he is like a modern day hicks
@jim31589 Well each to their own opinion. I wouldn't go as far as saying he is a modern day Hicks. I mean you can't say that Russell Brand (who shouldn't have even considered doing that terrible Arthur remake) is like a modern day Bill Hicks. From what I understand of Hicks is that he despised LA and that Arthur remake starring Brand with all these goofy toys epitomizes Bill Hicks opinion on the stupidity that comes out of Hollywood. Look, you are allowed to love Russell though!
To the interviewer! Please try not to associate Russell Brand with Bill Hicks! Russell does not do Bill any justice with his comedy! He's an awfull comedian and a complete hack. Not to mention he's part of that celebrity culture, that Bill Hicks and fans alike despise. Russels image is more important than his art and hes just another marketing cog in the corporate machine.

@jim31589 I just think if Brand was truly inspired by Bill (which maybe he is, I don't know) then maybe he would have a little more artistic integrity and not worry so much about the glamor and the money factor. It's just that Bill has become this iconic caricature in Stand Up like Jimi Hendrix is in Rock'n'Roll that it's almost hip to say you were inspired by him. Love Russell if you must, but there are other comedians out there who truly are trying to pass on the torch that Bill left.
