Whitechapel definitely is not heavier, it just seems like it because they have 6 breakdowns per song, and they're all slow (and predictable) as fuck. These guys space their (well thought out) breakdowns out between insane blasting and tapped arpeggio parts. Besides, the pure aggression of BtM puts Whitechapel to shame.

Regardless, he can still get the growls out no problem without cupping the mic or "kissing" the mic. Don't get me wrong I love BTM but it disappointed me when I seen him putting the mic in contact with his lips.

Common misconception. When someone "cups" a microphone, they're actually interfering with its directional properties, which makes it so the diaphragm in the mic can't compress and rarefy properly. This can cause feedback and it will muddy up the sound. Basically, cupping a mic makes shitty, terrible noise.

BTM is a great sicko band.. unfortunately it's a shame their live shows doesn't delivere 100% quality, but they use alot of guitar tracks on they're recordings, as far I know...
