Hey!! do you know where I can found this hawaiian steel guitar?? Im not interested in the country one, I like this Hawaiian sound. Im from Mexico City and Im searching a site or a shop were then can send their products to my country, thanks. Your a great player congratulations!!!
@Barnekkid Thanks for the comment. I played pedal steel back in the 70's and 80's. I guess I listened to "E" play that lick at least a thousand times....one of those musical epiphanies that you never forget.. In my 'twilight years' I took up the lap steel and tried to play things that were 'in my head'...finally settling on the Leavitt tuning with two extra strings that gave me the range to do that magic turnaround. Life is good.
I was going to say... gee that was pretty good, how do you tune that thing? but everybody else wondered the same thing. Really nice playing and nice song.
is there a difference in the lapsteel shape, i mean, in the sound..? and what makes a lap steel good or bad? i'm "desing" one with not too much money- its not to easy to get a lap steel in mexico city.. :D
Hi there, just looking through steel guitar things, I know music, and wanted to learn steel guitar:)
overall, sounds good, dont think any notes were missed, nice little cover from the computer hehe
at some points it felt as if you were too stiff with the rythem. Maybe exagurate harmonics a bit more aswell. Overall not bad, and very performable. :)
Thanks everyone for your nice comments on this video. On the video I used the Leavitt tuning with 2 additional strings. The original Leavitt tuning for 6 string is C# E G Bb C D , to which I added a low A and a high F . Instead of doing tabs, I am working on an instructional video that I will put up here on You Tube. In the meantime, be sure to check out the Leavitt tuning videos by Roy Thomson - steelinroy - here on you tube.
Beautiful! Please can we see and hear some more of your now 8 string Artisan? You clearly made a great job of converting it, and your playing is such a real treat to listen to. Thank you :-)

That's a nice riff from 0:30 to 0:38. Reminds me of Buddy Emmons.

Really Neat: Listened a bunch of times. Like the laid back style. Is there anymore music around like this? Great stuff...

Nice work Ukuleleo. That Leavitt tuning really works well on that kind of number.

Very cool, really enjoyed this. One of my favorite lap steel pieces on YouTube.
How much work was it to convert a six string to an eight string? (did you add replace the bridge and pickup?)
Also, wondering what software you used for the backup part.
Thanks very much for your very nice contributions on YouTube.

That is definitely not the stock Artisan system. Looks like he put a decent amount of work into making a really solid conversion.
