When the anthem is applied only to Russia as a country the "land that gives us birth" Rodina is the traditional sentiment, but this is the Federation Anthem as it was the Soviet Unions. The maternal feelings of Russian peoples to the land is not shared with other nations. For the sake of Union or Federation the term used means "of the fathers" followed by..."union of fraternal peoples" in plural. Not fatherland but a union of fraternal nations or fathers. Poetry and politics.

We call it "Rodina=Родина" or "Отечество"! You are dumb! We have the same lyrics in our anthem: "Славься Отечество, наше свободное!". Only stupid foreign idiots translated it as they wanted.
