  • If 20th Century Fox licensed this how come they didn't do the game themselves? They did M.A.S.H. & Aliens, and a few others for the Atari 2600

  • I love your reviews man, but with all due respect I found myself sitting here thinking "For the love of god, get to reviewing the game already... This is however the first video of yours that I have watched that I haven't liked.

  • @TenguGuy I'm also 13, I get picked on for my interest in Nintendo and retro gaming. Most of the kids in my school don't realize that graphics don't make a game good: gameplay does. Old school FTW!

  • @3DSStrider

Same here. People make fun of me for liking old games and especially Nintendo games. What they don't realize is that old classic games are fun as hell. They also don't realize that without the old old games there would not be this thing we call call of duty. Sometimes i get really irritated when people tell me this.

  • This is the great-granddaddy of Burning Rangers! :D

  • This game along with Tunnel Runner and Berserk are my favorite Atari 2600 games of all time. Great Review...

  • This is my fav game

  • What a depressing review. He sounds like he should go hang himself for having the most monotone depressing voice

  • @kevphillips02 you would like his newer reviews then. He talks all flashy just like other game reviewers on the net. Right up your alley dude!!! Personally I wish Mark would go back to doing reviews in this style where he just talks about the games in a normal voice and doesn't try to put a lot of emphasis in his voice. Straight up raw reviews is what I like, not the fancy flashy bullshit. The best CGR reviews were from 2008 and 2009. 2010 and 2011 CGR reviews, I can not watch.

  • @deadlygroove1 I think he should give it up. Mainly because some have the voice for this type of thing and some just dont. It dosent work for me but whatever floats your boat i guess , we all like different things.

  • @kevphillips02 Very True!!!

  • 2600 FTW BIATCH

  • I think more and more people who like me (born 1990) weren't around then, are discovering the joys of the Atari 2600 thanks to compilations like "Activision Anthology", emulators, and the large number of great games easily bought 2nd hand. So there is still hope!

  • Was there ever a Bullit game?

  • I had this game!!

  • Lol the description has a typo :P

  • I can play Atari games for about 5-10 minutes, then I have to play a different one at least. That wasn't much different 15-20 years ago either.

  • I never played this one and i had alot of games back then. Looks like i missed one good game. I got a good emulator though with all the games ever created so i guess i can play it through that. Just not the same though

  • I loved how I used my imagination in this game. I imagined the place was somewhere in one of my favorite condo resorts that I went to for vacations to at the beach.

  • I wish i could live in Atari Land..That would be amazing!

  • looks like a great game! i just got it today but haven't got a chance to play it yet!

  • This was such a fun game. Still looks REALLY good too.

  • I LOVE the swarm. Scared the shit out of me when I was young.

  • There's a game from Imagic called Fire Fighter. Similar to this, but just the outside of the buildings.

  • You can't blame the developers for the graphics/story ect. they did what they could with what they had at the time. So what is it's 8-bit repetitive game-pley. It's enjoyable and thats what matters.

  • It matters when you're making a direct comparison between modern games and old Atari games. It matters even more when they demonstrate an "all or nothing" mentality - "all Atari games are better than all modern games." And to say modern game players are "spoiled" is nonsense. I'm old enough to remember when there were no video games at all, so I watched them evolve. To say we're spoiled is like saying anyone not driving a Model T Ford is also spoiled.

  • I never said anything about "being spoiled" or what ever I also enjoy modern games (to be honest Fallout 3 is the best game I've ever played hands down) I just also enjoy older games as well

  • I know you didn't, it was megasdkirby who said people were spoiled. There's nothing wrong with enjoying older games. I just think that those who claim Atari 2600 games are soooooo much better than any modern game just don't have the right of it.

  • @hannable70 why not? just cus its new, its not better to everybody

  • Ummm... Video Games actually started in 1947. You'd have to be born in the 30's to be at a point where there was no video games.

  • @Bittergamer1886 yeah, cathode ray tube amusement device for the win indeed heh

  • @Xegethra Yep. AKA Tennis for Two. (I think the device was called NIMROD.)

  • @Bittergamer1886 hmm, i rememebr reading about it ages ago....it was either that or the oscilloscope as well....i tend to get old computers mixed up, but i do at least remember the first one that tried incorporate games into it

  • @Xegethra Mmmhmmm... I remember my dad telling me that my uncle had the rare TI-99 and my dad had a Commodore 64. In the true argument of Mac vs. PC (I'd choose Mac), the Commodore 64 wins. The C64 sold 30 million units. It was more than any PC or Mac sold combined, technically making it the most commercially successful computer in history.

  • @Bittergamer1886 aye, i can see why. i love my commodore 64, even if it has now died v_v

  • @Bittergamer1886 I had an Atari ST :-p

  • @sleinfer I have a 2600 and 7800, not to mention the other ~10 classic consoles I have. :-pp

  • Well I could say they're spoiled by modern games because a LOT of people only care about eye candy now and not gameplay. If they only see eye candy, that's all they'll want.

  • for some reason, this game reminds me of FLCL...

  • Well there is your problem right there. You are trying to compare a technically inferior game to modern video games. You cannot play these games with that mindset.

  • But that's what they're doing ... comparing Atari 2600 games with modern games by saying *all* modern games are "crap."

  • Why did you beep out F***en but not beep out GD?

  • This made me laugh.

  • Great review. Too many people on the net crap on this game. For 2600 standards it's very good. Some are just spoiled I guess.

  • Hell yeah. I loved this game back then. I remember spending hours playing it. Great game...people are just spoiled.

  • They crap on all classic games. Tired of people wanting advanced game play when classics are just so much better in game play and it's mechanics.

  • There just dumb kids who think that prettier means better, which it doesn't never has never will.

  • u got that right

  • I know I hate being 13 all the kids I know are spoiled by the HD graphics and 720p and all that shit. Old school ftw

  • I hated being 13 too. Fortunately, you seem like a smart guy with insight, and you like old games.

  • At least you were 13 when games were good.

  • I still have the Commodore 64 from that time. I am having a hard time finding games to my computer these days, as the requirements have skyrocketed. This was not an issue with the C64 games. Just put in the tape, rewind, and load it.

  • im gonna have to agree with you. hell, im just twelve and i would rather play sonic or super mario bros 3 than far cry or crysis.

  • It's just that those games were good ,still are but the newer games are just crap

  • Not all modern games are crap. If you get games like DDR or Space Channel 5 or R-Type Final, you will gameplay almost identical to the 8/16/32-bit era.

The good news for you young gamers is that you get to play those classic games for free or almost-free (ebay). WE had to pay $25-30 a pop!

Well there was Commodore=64 and Amiga piracy, but I'm not going to talk about that here. ;-)

  • how do you program a C64?

  • *shrugs* I'm 13 too, and I like retro games. I still have my Gameboy Pocket, and I only really use my Wii for Virtual Console. I've also played a bit of Amiga and Atari 2600 too.

  • @TenguGuy agreed.

  • @TenguGuy I feel the same way, man. As I said before, gimme my Atari over my PS3 any day.

  • @TenguGuy So true, I understand your point, all the people I know have PS3 and XBOX! Whilst I play on my atari 600xl computer, GO CLASSICS!

  • @theheadshot45 What the hell, I just can't afford a PS3 or Xbox.

Okay, that might not be true, but still.

  • @TenguGuy HA same here. even though I do enjoy watching classic game room in HD :P

  • @TenguGuy u are a disgrace

  • @TenguGuy hey im 14 and i totally agree with you FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS. and now your probably 15

  • @TenguGuy I couldn't agree with you more. I'm 13 as well, and all of the kids in my school are HD freaks. To them, great consoles like the Atari 2600 and the NES are dirt on the bottom of their shoes. They even mock me for my interest in retro gaming.

What they don't realise is that if it wasn't for this 'dirt', hey wouldn't have their stupid shooter games they have today. They also disregard any other game genre (especially RPGs, which I love to bits). They're really close minded.

  • @IcarusMoonsight

Now I agree that it's unfair to bash on this game but you can't say that the kids these days are spoiled because of the current graphics. By extension, one could say that in the 80s, anyone who had atari was spoiled. Do you expect a kid growing up in the current times should be expected to play older generation games?

  • @Sayaannnnn Who mentioned kids?

  • @IcarusMoonsight

Sorry, many kids play video games. I mean people.

  • @Sayaannnnn Than what you say doesn't hold. Arcades consistently had better graphics over home systems until Neo Geo (niche penetration) and more commonly since in the mid-late 90's. I don't care for Atari much overall myself, but I do like some of the games (Towering Inferno among them). Mostly because they are still fun to play, despite the outdated tech. Quality is timeless.

  • @IcarusMoonsight

I never said that quality wasn't timeless. I just think that calling people growing up in this generation spoiled for disliking older games.

  • @Sayaannnnn I don't even know what you are trying to say anymore...

  • another movie game i saw at my atari suppliers store was porkys

  • Wooo Disaster movies ha this game looks more compelling than Firefighter. I have Firefighter for the atari 2600 it gets old fast and it seems like there is no challenge.

  • This is Tibia!

  • nice one, if i came across this i would deffo play it

  • I wonder what an atari steve mcqueen would look like XD

  • COOL

  • This game hurts my eyes. Nice review, I enjoyed.

  • dont this game have awesome soundtrack?

I wanna hear it at the car =3

  • Wasn't the fireman in the movie played by OJ Simpson? So in a weird way, maybe in this game you could be playing as his character.

  • OJ was a security guard in the movie

  • This seriously looks like a great game! Haven't seen this one before. Surely I can't be serious? I am serious... And stop calling me Shirley :D

  • Another awesome reviews

  • One of the better games from "US GAmes"... .A subsidery of the Quaker Oats Company. Seriously. Even Quaker oats was into designing video games in the 80s.

  • So...many...atari games... How much are the ataris going for on ebay?

  • i know..................................wow

  • I always found that game to be pretty entertaining. Awesome video!

  • daramatic! xD

  • dude every fucking review you do is awesome
