those men of whom u speak also espoused the value of freedom while keeping slaves. is paul less of a jeffersonian that he doesnt own people? clearly jefferson opposed hamiltons central bank, and jackson put an end to it. u seem to be saying that ron paul is unpatriotic because we wont continue to sacrifice our youth and untold resources for shell, bp, and haliburton?
Well, while i think what you say is interesting id have to suggest that Ron Paul is not running on the basis of Jeffersonian or early American foreign policy. He points to the founding fathers ideas on liberty and limited government. He also makes it clear his foreign policy revolves around a more modern concept of blow back.
Just because someone you respect did it, doesn't mean you should blindly follow their lead or idealize their mistakes. You sound well educated, Ever read Liberty Defined?
im sorry but i'd rather trust Ron Paul's research on this matter since he is an expert on the constitution and colonial america rather than listen to some loser behind a computer in his mother's basement.
I would prefer that you think for yourself by evaluating facts in reality, including those from history, instead of being dependent for your thinking upon the expressions of other people.
Re: Dr. Paul, I thought his expertise was as a groin-a-cologist. Frankly, on the constitution and American history, I know more than he does but that isn't saying much. However, I did cite the five definitive biographers of our first five Presidents as my source; try reading them.
Everything you cited had to do with our borders and expanding them. The founders preached alliances with no one, and free trade with everyone. The founders called the other nations of the world (mainly Europe) as being nations of eternal war and we need to stay out of them. Ron Paul fits the bill. Still a nice chunk of history, I don't agree that it is contradicts Ron Pauls foreign policy.
Clean out your ears because you missed a lot, or just review the script in the sidebar for the details.
You should probably explain the various embargo and non-intercourse statutes against France and Britain during the Napoleonic wars in the context of your statements. Stop evading historical facts.
Further, do you deny that the Federalists called for alliance with Britain while the Dem-Reps sought alliance with France, with which we had an actual treaty of alliance?
Our Founders, unlike current and recent American leaders who want to control what other governments do in their own regions, were concerned about the US and her immediate region. Most concerns about the goings on overseas were due to what other countries would do in North America as well as concerns with our trading ships being attacked in the Atlantic.
You must not have been listening. Check out the transcript. The facts of what I said is inconsistent with your characterization. DId you miss something or are you dishonest?
As I said in response to another Libertard, you miss the essentials because you are concrete bound. Essentially, the Founders focused on selfishly advancing American interests; as should be done today, instead of sacrificing America to others as demanded by the morality of altruism.
@jwoodswce I listened and I am honest. My second comment was in direct response to your comment, not the video. In my first comment I only wanted to point out that both Paul and our Founders did not want to reshape the world (at least no more than our immediate area as far as the Founders were concerned). I’m not a libertarian. I am a paleoconservative similar to Pat Buchanan. Paul is closest to me currently and an honest man.
Is there a land bridge to Spain of which I am unaware? Remember that was Spanish Florida at the time.
So in your informed and considered judgment on history, the Monroe Administration should not have been concerned about the Holy Alliance and how it would react? Also, in the Jefferson Administration and the dispute over whether West Florida was part of the Louisiana Purchase, there was no risk of Napoleonic reprisals over unilateral American action against Spanish Florida?
lol there are more quotes with minding our own business, now we dont help republics and democracy we set up puppet dictators, the way we attack anyone at a moments notice and have bases in so many countries hasnt been seen like this sense Hitler, we simply cant afford it- Ron Paul 2012
@jwoodswce “peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none.”-Thomas jefferson dude are government is crazy corrupt and even if you want an intervention policy we cant afford it. If you truely loved this country you would realize that we are a million times more likely to collapse from our debt than iraq and afganistan
Albert Gallatin....do you know who that is? As Sec of Treasury for Jefferson and Madison, his fiscal program cut US debt by eliminating programs and positions while eliminating specific taxes as well. This allowed Jefferson to pursue an active and expansionist foreign policy and Madison to defend Americans against attacks upon neutral commerce and impressment by the British through the War of 1812.

@jwoodswce nope first quote that came up when i googled it and you cant debate the fact we cant afford it you are so caught up in the media neocon shtuff
Wow, you just Googled and just grabbed the first quote that came up....really...such a deep thinker...Paul should make you his poster boy. Next time read the book instead of using it for kindling.
Re: neocons, I'm currently ready Thompson's _Neoconservatism: An Obituary for an Idea_. Try it; you might be less uninteresting if you knew what you were talking about.
Re: not being able to afford "it", what is it? I haven't advocated a specific policy other than self-interest.
@jwoodswce lol you hate me for finding one in a million then you hate me for finding it realy quick lololololol even if you dont like his foreign policy he's the only one not bought and paid for, lol 9-11 was faker then mitt romney lol and you think its the reall i beat
No young buck; I box your ears for being ignorant beyond contempt.
Far from being overwhelmed by the brilliance of the quote that you selected, I found your use of it to be cliche.
Re: "he's the only one not bought and paid for," is it painful when your public school teachers use you like a sockpuppet? Far from being independent in your thought, you are a conformist without a clue.
Fascinating...you are so anti-conceptual and concrete-bound that you don't understand what they did to you. Put down your blunt youngun and let me give you a glimpse.
The abuse of public schools is not in the concretes, but in the methodology. You suffer from Rationalism as you were conditioned for by your teachers. Instead of independent thought based from inducing facts from reality, you base your thinking on revealed premises (eg from Alex Jones) disconnected from reality.
Exactly what I am talking about. You have zero evidence from reality that I "want to maintain these wars"; yet, you make that conclusion based upon unexamined premises that are unrelated to facts.
Personally, if I was so absolutely wrong as you are on this point, then I would check my premises as a person with integrity would do. Do you have any integrity? In the face of your error, will you check your premises against reality?
@jwoodswce what premise are you ever so talking about the wars...and you act like your nose is real up high, who would you like for president out of the candidates running and if not one of them who would you like to run
Try restating that clearly in the afternoon after the weed has worn off.
My current preference for the next President is Tom Ridge based upon his experience. In 2008, I voted for Don Rumsfeld as I stated in a vid at that time.

You are guilty of focusing on non-essentials.
The problem with current American foreign policy is that it is based upon altruism by which we sacrifice ourselves for the benefit of others.
The proper basis of American foreign policy is the active pursuit of our own interests.
Two points that both you and Ron Paul are missing. Yet, our Founders understood them explicitly.

Ron Pauls foreign policy would be worse than the policies we have with Obama, because Paul is much more explicitly anti-american.
