  • I think its funny when the bass player missed his note at 2:04. That's why Jim got that look and looked over there. I wonder what he said to him afterwards. LOL

  • No one could replace Johnny, though Ernie was close, But Shephard? I don't think he quite measures up, he's got the worst falsetto I ever heard.

  • jaysus used to like this band.what's with the lounge suits and waltons humming.bring back the 60's fast.

  • I just wished I could hear my mamma s prayers once more I found such comfort when I heard my mother pray

  • AWESOME SONG!!!

  • It's sad to say that the church don't know how to pray like this anymore.

  • I feel very blessed to say this describes my Mama, Nanny and Granny....my Daddy and Grandaddy too..We all used to say that when they decided to take on something in prayer ... the outcome was never in doubt.....They have all passed on but I know as hard as they prayed for me growing up they are at it even louder now. I wish everyone could know that peace and power in their lives....Its the best thing we could ever ask for..

  • i love this song and it helps me because i my mom just passed away month ago of breast cancer

  • are these the same kingsmen who wrote louie louie?

  • In a word, no.

  • I remember watching my momma pray for us when we just kids, her prayers paid off

  • This song makes me think of my grandmother. She prayed so hard for us. I used to not understand why in the middle of the night i would hear her crying and praying, but believe me when i tell you that now i understand! Thank you Grandma, i love you and miss you so mcuch!!!

  • In my opinion these are the best years of The Kingsmen as well. Their technique is unique and powerful. They really made you feel the depth and meaning of a song. I love them. I would like to know what the current lineup is though or if there is one.

  • The Kingsmen of the last half of the 80's-no one could touch them.

  • Nor any other time either!

  • Always enjoyed listening to Garry Sheppard.

  • What a treat to hear my favorite songs I remember so well. So sad to think of those that have passed on. They will be missed by me for sure.

  • When I was 6 years old, Ed came to my church in West Union, Oh, where I now preach and he sang. My favorite song was always "When Mamma Prayed." I have several of his old cd's. I sure do miss seeing him. I use to see him every year at the church. He is a wonderful man.

    God bless,

    Joseph Durham, Evangelist

  • Oh my gosh! I've been looking for this lineup for a while. Thanks for posting! I LOVE Big Ed Crawford! Although he looks like a Ken prototype doll or a weatherman.

What the heck happened to Rice's hair?

  • He bought some 10 years ago!

  • Best line up the Kingsmen ever had! Although I liked the group when Jim and Eldridge sang as well. Brings back great memories. Thanks for posting!

  • I agree with this group of guys being the best ever. I used to work for a promoter here in Florida and we used to book the Kingsmen here all the time. I have to say though that the best tenor they ever had was Ernie Phillips. He was amazing!!!! I love these guys, and Ray and i are still friends, i'm just glad he carried on the Kingsmen!!!! They still bless me just as much as back then!!!

  • Too funny! As a bass player, has anyone else heard the bass player make a mistake at 2:05. Thats the reason for Jim's look back. Too Funny! What a great video!!

  • This song reminds me of my Mom! Where would I have been? Im so Thankful for her! CG in TX

  • This particular group of Kingsmen singers was the Best ever in my opinion. I love that steel guitar behind Big Ed as he sings that solo with everything he had! Kinda makes you want to stand up shout right along with him! Speaking of Mr. Hamill's facial expression at 2:01 whats even better is at 2:04 when the bass player hit the wrong note on the walk up....Hehehe Jim's look is kinda like "Now boys yall have played this a thousand times don't mess up now!" Hehe......Best SG group Ever, No doubt!

  • Also, the smile on Hamill's face at 2:01 is just priceless. It just shows the joy they were having that night.
