@MrLppa perhaps you need to rephrase your question.
This is an "Australian Television Advertisement"; ergo, the advertisement was shown on Australian television. I quoted seeing this advertisement broadcast on Australian TV on May 13 - the posting of this video was May 20. I'm not sure how I can make these points any clearer.
Or perhaps this is not the question you are asking... So, what question are you asking???
@GODLOVEEESYOU Dude, you're Preaching to the Perverted here. I bought my phone from the UK & got it before Telstra's Australian launch. The video was played nearly 6 months ago & looking at Telstra's site, the HTC Desire is out of stock.
But then, they only had exclusivity for 6 months.
Anyway, as it is with everything, it's the shopper's responsibility to find the price that suits them. If you purchase it from O/S, then you'll have to get it repaired in the country of purchase...
@MrLppa, I think Telstra might need it. They have exclusivity to sell the Desire in Australia for 6 months. And considering that Australia has only a population of 22 million (?) people, it's a pretty small market to get your investment back on.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not in favour of Telstra being the sole retail outlet for the Desire, but I am impressed that they are/were pushing this advert. :)
@Anamnesia I meant on this ad, the price, the logo and the « Australia's largest & fastest national mobile network » were big and pervasive compared to the UK Desire ad for exemple, or the HD2 T-Mobile US ad, where there's only a little « Exclusively from T-Mobile » in the bottom of the ad, without any price, or other.
@mezzadakiller That's a fair comment "today". I imported my Desire from the UK in April & got it before the official Australian launch date. Even landed & FedEx'ed, it was cheaper than the Tel$tra release, but still cost more than $500 then!
Perhaps it is now & that's a good thing, but you gotta keep it all in historical perspective - this video is from May 21st; four (4) months ago...

This contract is such a rip-off !!! D:< Just buy a $300 used or $500 new phone from eBay in AUS or USA (cheaper) & just unlock it & there you go...
