i reckon your fulla shit.... I own a landrover and water in the axles used to be an every day occurance.. the breather on top of the diff is supposed to float up in water, blocking off the breather... but it gets clogged up, so i put breather pipes on all the way up to the dash from both diffs and havent had a problem since... the oil/water was NEVER that clean. i could see oil coming out in ur vid that wasnt mixed with the water at all.. like the water had JUST been poured in there..........
amazing... you say the internals were rusted and pitted.... yet the water that came out was crystal clear like fresh tap water. I've never pulled an axle out of a wrecking yard with water in it that wasn't brown if it had damaged insides. Something smells fishy.
didn't you notice that there is no rust. Usually that doesn't hurt the axles believe it or not. worst case scenerio rebuild it or buy new ball bearings and have it set.
in any case don't throw them im sure the most common cause of axle failure is snapping
As you have got that far why not just completely split it to check the innards, you may find no rust as the water was resent e.g. from transport or someone malicious?
I did split the axle into it's three sections. Namely because I could remove the pinion shaft as it's housing was rusted in place! Both the front and rear have rust on the ring gear with lots of places where it is pitted like 50 grit sandpaper... Seems the water was in there for a long time. :-(
@Hasenwerk what a load of crap man CLEAN water doesnt come out after its been sitting there rusting...... ever looked at the water coming out of a radiator? that murky brown color? how can you get CLEAN water out of something you claim was soooo rusty inside . . . . .
that water was afully clean, almost too clean. ???

I'd run it. But if I paid the high price of these 406 units I'd be pissed.
