The second note loosens the tension. If you want to build on multiple notes from a base of single note emphasis, then yous gonna have ta play the variable noomber game. fast slow more less back forth .... finish them with the original one noter. and lower the drum levels a bit ... just a suggestion.
maybe carry the note repeating through the next bar or ... ...
