  • Love it!!

  • This is a gorgeous song, and Tracey's version is my favorite.

  • love this love her............

  • OH YEAH PAUL JUST HAD TO BE IN THIS XDD! Great acting Macca!

  • She looks like Sibyl Fawlty (Prunella Scales) in Fawlty Towers

  • trivia: i think the 'baaby' part is the original voice of kirsty maccoll ! (boating accident)

  • @polkapete11 You are indeed correct Pete, It was Kirsty doing "Baaaby" Talk about a talent that left us far too early, Kirsty. And utterly horrific way too..

  • she gives me a boner....

  • @lunargoddess2002 yes! And so she trades in 1 fantasy for another one, with idealized celebrity fantasy lust w/paul mccartney... Her 'real' Paul dreamboat!! Lol ...

  • I love, love, love this song....brings me back to my 20's!

  • wow...saw this when i was a kid and couldn't appreciate then how HOT tracey is in this video

  • Got this on Vinyl

  • You gotta love that song, so sincere and cute, you just wanta hug Tracy ----,---'---,--@

  • Love this song!

  • Love the song but don't get the video. What's with that poor girl getting walloped?!

  • @littletimeuk That is a home video of Tracey as a child.

  • Very Spectoresque

  • Love the song, (and Tracey) but can somebody explain the video?

  • @zaqth Seriously? It is about a young couple that falls in love and everyone is telling her that it will never work. She idealizes their love. Then up and a few years later, she is pregnant and a child later, the fantasy becomes reality and it isn't all that it is cracked up to be.

  • for 28 years i thought this was the Go Go's !!!! damn, she is good at everything she touched ! i really miss her.

  • Such an adorable, cute woman, esp. in this video

  • Holy crap, I haven't seen this in 25 years!!

  • That makes two of us. How the years go by.

  • That makes two of us. How the years go by!!!

  • I remember this when it was in the UK charts I had a big crush on her. Thanks for this blast from the past.

  • awwww Tribble nice one xxx

  • The look on her face at :49 is the best! Love this nod to '60s pop.

  • gw8gf87eg8f7edg87 I want Paul to let me lean on his shoulder ;-;

  • awesome song!!

  • Call me a slipper fetishist, but this woman is gorgeous. The ghost of an overbite at 0:39 sends crumpets down my spine. The song ain't half bad, either: kind of Phil Spector meets Baruch Spinoza. Great vocal harmonies, a neat cadence on the flattened seventh, and sound epistemology. Couldn't ask for more, really.

  • @EndivioRoquefort That was one Hell of a video review !!

  • hidden gem of the 80's!

  • I didn't know she sang! she's truly multitalented!

  • 1:40 watch out! gary glitter is standing right behind you!

  • Tracy where are you? You have so much to offer!

  • She has her slippers on in this video. Now they have slippers pj's and dressing gowns on in morrisons. Sad times

  • Tracey's lettuce - top flight!

  • This is brilliant. Love Tracey <3

  • such a fun song

  • A super talented women. I love this song. So positive song for love. Great!!

  • @ tiasarahellielorna what are you talkung about. Kirsty was in huge demand by other singers because of her pitch.

  • love the part where se is dress in a BCR outfit. They are my fave group.

  • a comedic genius whom id love to meet.shres is bloody brilliant.

  • A more innocent time; waiting for Top Of The Pops to come on, imagining yourself in the audience. It wasn't about what was marketable, as history proves. It was about imagining yourself up there when you didn't have to be the prettiest boy or girl in the playground. It was....it was magical.

  • @embojitsu Absolutely spot on comment - I thought it was just me!! :o)

  • kirsty has a rough voice not so pleasing for the music conniseur

  • McCartney looks a LOT like Supergrass's Danny Goffey in this vid!

  • she is my idol, she was one of the reasons i wanted to be a voice actor

  • great song! remember like it was yesterday. i miss the 80s. class of 1989

  • I want shoes like these

  • v good

  • My mama and I used to watch the Tracey Ullman show and we used to dance to this song. It makes me think of my mom :)

  • when music was real

  • 80年代、イギリスで一世風靡したネ!~お茶目なポップアイドル、トレイシー・ウルマン、魅惑的な"THEY DON'T KNOW"

  • excellent

  • Tracey is a doll.

  • Wasn't there another video of this featuring the then Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock, or was it just a bad dream I had?

  • @Lowerthetone1 Yeah i remember Neil Kinnock being in the video too!!!

  • @Lowerthetone1 Kinnock was in the video for My Guy

  • They Don`t Know - By Tracey Ullman peaked at # 9 on the illboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart on 04-14-1984

  • @Hot100daze1976to1997 # 8 my friend =)

  • Song composed by the late great Kirsty MacColl which she also recorded in the late 70s . Big hit on radio then which we sold loads of in our shop at any rate which was chart return aswell . Mystery why it didn't chart as it was far better than this version . Kirsty produced and sang on this one too - atleast she would have earned something from it this time round as it did well for Tracey .

  • @1972Mazza It's amazing that Kirsty's version wasn't as popular. Didn't Kirsty do extra vocals and the 'Baby' part on this? I do like this though.

  • @mrsmudd2009 Yes she did do those vocals . Guess it was maybe the wrong time for Kirsty with the disco and punk going head to head . This version is good too !

  • how come mr. paul mccartney appeared in this video ?

  • @919rickw they were/are friends, and he has a sense of humour

  • what the devil is that bloke wearing?

  • Good 60's revival in the 80's!

  • @jazz4rock even 50's

  • omg that child getting belted :'( bastard

  • Great song!Always loved it!!

  • it wasn't that! tracey kept it in deliberately to honour kirsty

  • I'm just goofing around. She's a wonderful, unique, and remarkable talent and, I'm sure, a delightful person. I enjoy this song and video.

  • I meant to type "stud." She is a stud. I've seen her. She could do a number of things to you with one-or both-arms tied... firmly... behind her back.

  • I wish I had written this song, because that would make me really cool. Of course, I would have never played it for anyone because I'm shy, and that would kind of suck. I really like the song and her performance and her video. She's a stard!

  • @gpd784 "stard?"

  • ive always liked this song.

  • "Bubble Gum Music" is still very much alive and well, thank God!!

  • Great song, funny video

  • I`m British and I was around at the time.I never heard anything about a rumoured "affair" until the days of the internet. Funny it never made the British tabloids. I can only guess it came from American supermarket trash tabloids.

Tracey went to Linda`s memorial service.

  • @femaleanimal What's the difference between American tabloids and British tabloids? I think ALL tabloids are trash, no matter what country they hail from.

  • Hot chav ?

  • That guy at the end looks suspiciously like Paul McCartney :O

  • @daweller he IS Paul McCartney.

  • This brings back some good memories of those wonderful 1980's. Love this song and this video!

  • great song when youre nearlly pissed?

  • Kirsty MacColl sings the "baby" at 1:49 because Tracey Ullman couldn't reach so high.

  • I remember this very well... 1983

  • I bought my first serious boyfriend this record and he bought me a David Bowie record, ahh happy memories : - ) xxx

  • love my trademark song with 2 girls I loved both dumped me ..maybe a bad omen song lol ,,

  • To this day, she still sings this song as her theme song. I never tire of it. Tracey, you're great, and the funniest woman alive.

  • Tracey hit #8 in Billboard, 4-28-84. Who's the 1st guy in the car with Tracey? Anybody know? God bless ya, for positn' it. Thanx!

  • Love this song

  • Oh Paul....

  • she,s remines me of lesley gore, in a way,i like someof her gongs.

  • @MrWillette57 Came across this post late. But yes! I agree after reading it, There is a resemblance of her voice to Lesley Gore. Good catch!

  • Four words: GREATEST VID CAMEO EVER!!!

  • Does anyone know who the guy is in this video? The sleazy mustached one.

  • @HeyKim0012 No, sorry. But I HAD hoped you weren't talking about the one at the end! LOL...

  • Hilarious! Thanks for uploading.:D

  • this song was my first love

  • Did Linda know that Paul had an affair with Tracey ?

  • @MrSKINFLICK Tracy always set off my gaydar personally

  • I remember standing in line for a ride at Astroworld in Houston, TX when I was very young and this video was playing on the TV. The memory just came to me out of nowhere just now. I love this song!

  • @HeyKim0012 Never played anything like that when I was Astroworld, still have fond memories of the place though . . .

  • What a talent! Love her so much! A car passed my house this morning, and this was playing! SWEET!

  • Reminds me of nights of my youth with copious amounts of Amphetemine.

  • @Paddockman:

    Yep Yep Yep

  • 33 people don't know about love!!

  • one of my favorite vids from the early 80s.AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

    miss the 80s

  • and shes not that bad looking either

  • Singer, comedian, and actress. You don't see many that can pull that off these days.

  • does anyone know that year that this song came out?

  • @RRFBINH 1983 I believe it was

  • @NigelRumpstead

Spring of 1984 (at least in the US)

  • God I love this song! It popped into my head this morning....and I'm glad I found the video....good quality, too! :)

  • GREAT SONG BUT IT REMINDS ME OF A GIRL I LIVED WITH AND SHE FUCKED OFF WITH A SOLICTOR AND TOOK ME FOR A LOT OF MONEY THE BASTAD

    i love her.

  • また歌ってくれないかな

  • Would. Sober.

  • Nice one Tracey, you are the best!!! x

  • What a wonderful song! Cheery, uplifting, and all around kick-ass!!!!!

  • If it there was no Tracey Ullman. There would be no Bart Simpson. True fact.

  • @streetcarjay Hmmm .....I knew someone had to be to blame! :(

  • Love Paul, Tracey and this song. Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson could to a killer cover of this.

  • @Abbyover That's an iffy proposition considering Amy's current state of mind. I'd rather remember this version of the song.

  • haven't heard this in a long, long time,it still sounds as good as the first time!!

  • YEEESSSSS......... great song!

  • great singer and song

  • 1984 at its best. I remember loving this song but having no idea who sang it, until now that is!

  • I miss you, Ian.

  • @MegaEvalee Nope.

  • I heard a long time ago that she had a lengthy affair with Paul McCartney.

  • I heard a long time ago that she had a lengthy affair with Paul McCartney.

  • 31 Beiber fans don't like this song...

  • You are a doll!!!

  • she's not ugly

  • Love you Tracey.....

  • makee biisi!!

  • Probably one of my favorite 80s songs that doesn't sound like an 80s song.

  • @honorabili Well, in the suggested videos to the right, apparently it is a 70's song! (Kirsty MacColl, 1979)

  • tracey !!! before the comedy, but you can see she is a great actress

  • Tracey Ullman ugly? I was 8 when this was released in the UK and as far as me and my mates were concerned Tracey set the standard when it came to girls!!

  • @Barsider75 I was 12, and she was a role model for many girls at that time :)

  • I loved this song so much when it came out that I purchased the 45. Yes, 45 and I still have it. Tracey can not only sing but she's very funny. I remember her show all too well. I started reading some of the comments and they were sort of stupid and we definitely don't need the language on here. In other words don't ruin a good thing! For those who are her fans that's all that matters.

  • This Song reminds me of the year 1964.

  • man she's ugly

  • @flippertyjipperty

There must be something wrong with you mate if you think she's ugly. Oh sorry, never realised you had a white stick! The PC brigade will be after me now.

    Who cares she IS beautiful.

  • @robintopping62 oh god ur comments made me come back here and i saw her ugly face again. blehhhh

  • Good singing for someone with such a boxy face...

  • Tracey's still got it. What a talent. :)

  • Boxy face, no nortons, but lotsa cash (she's rich folks) and nice moves - Tracey, you're the goods!
