they are 2 different styles. dan and dave do "Flourishes" in the sense that they show off, mainly for other manipulators.

XCM is based off routining, being well rounded and performing live for mainly laymen

I would say flourishing/XCM is a bit tougher than card magic, but in the end its equally or more rewarding when you do perfect a move. Grabs ALOT of attention and i think every card magician should look professional and have some handling over the deck to show of f a little :P
