  • just sayin all of the rx series cars have rotay engine which have no pistons or rods or cams or lifters or anythin of the sort in case you didnt know

  • knocking lol? watch out it might throw a triangle

  • hmm... sounds like it's running fine to me, in fact it sounds like it's running perfectly and spinning like a top, beside the fact that rotary engines as stated already, don't have con rods, timing chain or anything like that. It's is impossible for it to have a rod knock... sorry. But hey look on the bright side, you don't have to worry about having the engine replaced.

  • Sounds like you got a rod knock and need a new canooter valve. Might as well replace the flux capacitor while you have the block torn apart.

  • its a worn piston pin knocking against a connecting rod...

  • @glcdrummer954 on a rotary?

  • @glcdrummer954 LOL YOURE SO FUNNY

  • whats anemic is this video

  • Check your plugs/HT leads.

  • i don't think he knows there's a rotary engine in it.

  • 1 i didnt hear knocking 2 its a rotary no rods no cams no metal timing chain or valves so im very confused on what your talking about knocking on an rx8...if anything its your heat shield cover rattling cause its rusting away but the rx8 is too new for that

  • You gonna answer that?

  • use 91+

    solved

  • are u gonna answer it?

  • RX8's cannot knock. A rotary can't knock in fact? Add some oil, rotary's are designed to burn it

  • @812Mizata they can make a knocking noise if there is play with the rotors due to starving it of oil and wearing away the rotor housing

  • @crazy8sx08

I think it sounds more like a harsh rubbing noise. I know what you're talking about

  • @812Mizata yes it is more of a harsh rubbing but to the average joe who doesnt even know what a rotary engine looks like it could be mistaken

  • @crazy8sx08

    Can't argue with that :D

  • @812Mizata lol

  • An you stuped your car only need super antifreez

  • car has a 100,000 mile warranty.. take it to the dealer!

  • them rotarys and there piston slap.. just be glad is not the typical rotay rod knock

  • @lard33333 word

  • What the hell is knocking?! do you know anything about the engine in your car?

  • i Can't hear any Knocking......

  • Knocking in the rotary is most common from rough rotor tips or the rotor shaft warping, usually due to the owner never keeping up with topping the oil levels

  • Just another case of what rotaries are famous for.

  • Can you get knocking on a rotary? I don't understand how, someone explain it to me.

  • @wolf1010 You lean out the mix of fuel and it pre-ignites ,just like in any other engine. Just so happens that when it goes on in a rotary, it doesn't just make a horrible ping, it throws your apex seals out the exhaust and you need a rebuild.

  • @Nateb123 So the classic term "knocking" doesn't quite fit but same concept. Makes sense =]

  • @wolf1010 No it's exactly the same thing. It's just that because the rotary's engine mechanicals are different, there's a different effect (ie. It won't melt pistons because there are no pistons to melt, etc)

  • @Nateb123 apex seals don't go out the exhaust on a renesis because of the side ports... the stay in the housing and gouge the shit out of it

  • @Jea629 They still come out, just often in smaller pieces :P

  • use 91 or 93 octane. It should help

  • It's not an engine problem, it's almost certainly a fuel problem.

  • @taimoor006 maybe you cant handle a rotary sir

  • i think you might have bent a rod lol

  • you obviously have no clue what a rotary engine is then... there are zero rods in a rotary engine...

  • you my friend are a tool. yes i know what a rotary engine is and how they work... i own an 09 rx8 and have been around rotaries all my life and if you didnt notice theres an (lol) at the end of my comment above hinting i was joking

  • @lddesign hey bro i have 2004 RX8 and it has 70K Mil

so my question is thet ok when the car knockig like this on the video or not and what can i do to fix this problem cause i dont really like that...

  • mine used to do that all the time. no big deal. just a rough idle, normal for a early year rx8 to have a idle like that

  • thats a first for me a rotary engine knocking ..maybe something else but not the engine buddy

  • just follow my principle....whenever i drive my rx8 and hear something....I REDLINE so the motto goes

    "when in doubt, just redlineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

seems to solve my problems, of course i do keep mine well maintained and regularly serviced

  • haha. my philosophy too :)

  • a piston bearing lol

  • ummmm i think it neeeds a new head gasket...or timing belt.. ;)

    lol

  • oh really?? cause rotarys have head gaskets and timing belts right??

  • yup lol

  • funny

  • This video is fucking terrible.

    1. Get a BETTER MICROPHONE

    2. Don't let wind hit the microphone and don't breathe on it.

    3. Eliminate all backround noice or shield the microphone from it.

  • @GeneralHoohah nerd haha!

  • @bugattiveyronsslover To be honest, it sounds like he stuck the microphone up his ass or was busy giving it a blow job.

  • It's the johnson rod

  • horrible sound... cant tell

  • yea probaly flooded like SMGslim said,if the car is left for a period of time without drivin,i think next time u get in u have to rev for half a minute or so b4 drivin off...i think this helps.

  • Robert Wankel just shat his pants

    pistons?

    valves?

    really?

    rotors and ports.

    no crankshaft- eccentric shaft.

But oh well, rotary engines are great, if handled by a decently knowledgable person.

  • his names was felix

  • what a smarty pants. ;)

  • Sounds like engine flood to me actually, I can't be a 100% certain cause the sound quality isn't great here.

However if it is flooded, there's a lever underneath the dash of the driver side, if you can't find it, its in your owners manual.

  • LOL! Who the fuck gave this idiot a thumbup?

  • wow you are one dumb fuk your mom should have swolloed you. the key word in you sentence is "worked" they fired you retarded ass.

  • lol woooow, what were u, a janitor at a mazda dealership?? lol wow, i didnt think anyone was really that stupid lol....rotary engine, keyword..."ROTOR"!! lol dang ur an idiot lol if it was a piston engine, it wouldnt be called, rotary engine lol. the RX8 uses 2 rotors that spin around a shaft similar to a crankshaft in a piston engine

  • mannn i worl in mazda, and im telling you now. i had to strip the engine down like last week, and im pretty sure i didn't see no fucking pistons you dumb shit. haha. considering i had to replace the rotors? haha.

  • which is why you USED to be a mechanic...you should never hold a wrench...

  • Sounds alot like detonation. Most of us out here in phoenix mix out fuel in the summer. Stops it completely.

  • maybe you just need higher grade gas

  • I bet you $100 bucks its the tire pressure!

  • lol it's from rev to high it is a cast iron rotor dipped in titanium they all wil be shitty sooner or later get you aftermarket rotors solid titanium

  • Do you premix your gas with 2 Stroke oil? It eliminates knocking

  • Gotta pemix for hot weather, otherwise you get pre-combustion...

  • can't hear it which is a good thing. Rotary engines are a little harder to diagnose but knocking could be anything. Check o2 sensors, and see how it idles. Try to find out which side the knocking is coming on and see if it is rhythmic with the rpm's

  • lol

  • haha cant really hear it but...yea hope u have fun with ur torqeless wonder :] only kidding man its prolly a bad o2 sensor or temp gauge ...i deffenantly think its a sensor of some sort, doubt that ur engine needs a rebuild. good luk with that...

  • lol pistons, agreeing with tboom

  • pistons next to the air filter? haha what the hell are you talking about? WHY would a rotary engine have pistons? the whole point is to make an alternative to the piston engine...and umm a rotary with 230000 miles and no rebuild runing better than new? haha how can a car get faster with higher miles? :p retarded comments!

  • man this shits pretty funny. i guess no one else has a sense of humor on here. this guy knows better, hes just making a joke. its brimming with sarcasm. funny stuff.

  • ayo did you check the headlight fluid on ur honda?

  • what a dumb fuck. rotaries dont have pistons tard. What were you a tricycle/bigwheel mechanic? I sure as fuck wouldnt bring my RX-7 to u

  • add some water wetter to the RAD, it will run much cooler...

  • actually the new rotary engines used arent as high maintenance as people think compared to the old rotary engines, and in a rotary engine theres only 3 or so main moving parts vs about 40 or more for your average smaller piston engine. fewer parts = less that can break. its smoother by design and if you take care of it just like any other engine theyll last a LONG time.

  • rotarys have to go through more maintenece than the piston engines. pistons are better = ]

  • i've seen a rotary with 230,000 miles, never been rebuilt, just as fast (if not more powerful) than new.

  • well idk but my teacher is a rx7/rotary engine freak and he was telling us that the seals in each corner of the rotor have to be replaced every so many miles. epecially when shuting them off, he and a few people tha i know, instaled a swich to kill the fuel pump so that there was no problem when starting due to fuel acomulation. sweet engines though.

  • all depends on climate; for instance my scout did fine in the dryer elements of fort worth, texas. as soon as I brought it to cc, tx (humidity and salidity normally at extremes) main seal and head gaskets blew...

  • yeah thats true, i think climate has alot to do and so does the way of driving it.

  • I bet you a tenner its those tips worn out like somebody pointed out,its a usual case for rotary engines.

  • Maybe you lost compression on one rotor.

  • ever heard of pinging......are you using premium gas?? if not you should......and how many miles if you got over 30k get new plugs.....you should now what your getting into next time you buy a car...

  • Must be your pistons.

  • yea man deff its his pistons

  • a rotary engine does not have pistons, its got rotors.

  • maybe i should of put this 'SARCASTIC'

his tips could be worn out i dont kno shit about this engines except that they can blow some fire out the exhaust at high RPMs >;] sick

  • sorry, i though u were being seriouse.

  • LOL!

  • i know rofl, noobs..

  • o yea those triangular pistons

  • Erm they arent pistons!

  • im joking thats why i said triangular bahah

  • I know mate, just was a sarkie reply back at you :D.

  • haha ya the v2 engine rofl

  • ..............rotary engines have no valves...

  • yup get your valves checked

  • there is no valves.........

  • there is no spoon either :{

  • i just pooped

  • sounds like a belt or a loose or damaged pulley.

  • ummmm all i hear is wind feedback...

  • ummm put the cam next to the bonnet. Not inside the car!

  • did you get this fixed? are you on rx8club?

have you had a compression test, checked plugs and coils? what octane r you using? any mods?

  • yeah i cant hear it but i would send it in there replacing motors alot

  • can't hear shize
