When I used to live in Florida, these things would fly at my head as fast as they could! They use to get in my house... they really creeped me out. They are EVIL.
god these thing scare the crap out of me one landed on me one time i hit him and then i ran so fast my heart was beating so fast and i screamed so loud every one could of heard man talk about scary!!!!!
Fuck that i would squash the shit out of that a hole lmao, anyways i was working when i saw a robber fly, a horse fly tried to bite me and i raised my arm and blocked it and i scared it off haha lmao
An enemy of the dragonfly is an enemy of mine! Super scarey looking freaky fly. Thanks for sharing. Am glad we dont have those where I live. But we do get monstrous horseflies around our rivers. Boy do those bites hurt.Many blessings and peace...Elizabeth
these guys dont bite they may land on you to use you as a perch to hunt other flies

These are actually pretty beneficial insects as they prey on other flies and such...I have a horse and certainly don't mind them around the barn!
They also won't bite you unless you pick them up or make them feel trapped- they're not blood feeders like horseflies.

in elementary school i saw one of these guys it was chilling
i was releasing some grasshoppers in the whiler and this basterd fly like a fucking rocket and stole a grasshopper

Robber flies are actually extremely common, it's just the larger ones that aren't very frequent in many areas.
