  • love mini trucks

  • Looks like tons of fun! Can't wait to get my truck done! Nice Vid.

  • good song, nice video.

  • on the zr2, did you have to trim alot to get those 33s on with just the 2 inch body lift?

  • @TheDaniel027 Offroading, 2008. Chevy S-10 ZR-2 with 2" body lift and 33s, and stock 4.7L 5spd Dakota..... dumbass take time to read the desc

  • Awsome video bro. S10s rock. oh and good luck on the head gasket.

  • dosent have deferential lock?

  • 6 months ago I bought my first vehicle, a 99 s10 with 167k miles on it. Just last weekend the engine blew a headgasket after I had poured 20 bucks worth of engine coolant in the radiator a week before. Rewind 6 months, there was a dakota on the lot for $2000 but I was limited to $1500. Now the s10 needs a new engine and im gonna pay $700. If only I was allowed to use that money 6 months ago.

  • @ANTIEMO571

Needing a new head gasket =/= needing a new engine. Replacing a head gasket isn't even that hard.

  • @Tboninator Well the mechanic said there was coolant in the engine oil as well as valves that were broken as well, so replacing all the parts and getting the engine to work again would have been more time consuming and more expensive. I got the truck back 2 weeks ago with the new engine.

  • @ANTIEMO571

Coolant (antifreeze+water) gets in the oil and the cylinders when the headgasket gets blown out. There are water jackets that run through the block, in between the cylinders, and up into the heads- those gaskets seal those off from the cylinders and the valves... That's just how it works... Now if you had broken valves, then you were doing something very wrong. Your valves should never get broken, bent, or worn after only 167k miles.

  • @Tboninator The mechanic told me that the engine was no good and that to replace the headgasket was more complicated than what you discribed. He said it would require disasembling the whole engine to get the part in and then putting it back together afterward. I only put 3000 miles on the truck and I didnt go offroading or do anything to put a great amount of stress on it, but the truck had previous owners, im not sure what they did when they drove it.

  • @ANTIEMO571

You had the 4.3L V6, correct? That motor is identical in every way to the 5.7L Chevy V8, aside from 2 missing cylinders from the middle. All you have to do is take off the head. You take off the valve cover, loosen the rockers, and then undo all the head bolts, pop the head off, replace gasket, reverse. Not difficult.

The fact of the matter is, someone abused that truck, because that motor should have lasted a lot longer than that.

  • @Tboninator Thanks for providing this information. Judging by what you told me, I think I need to find a different mechanic next time this truck has a problem.

  • @ANTIEMO571

Well, don't switch that easily- I'm just saying look into what he's saying before handing over the dough for him to do the work. I'm simply saying that a blown head gasket usually doesn't end up screwing up valves, unless something else is at fault. A head gasket alone won't mess them up, but possibly the cause for the blown head gasket could have. He could have been right- I'm not able to see what he saw, but it sounds to me like he was just digging for a bit more money.

  • @Tboninator Ok, ill wait until next time he trys somthing like this again before I go see sombody else. Thanks agian for the information.

  • @Tboninator I dont realy have any experience working on vehicles myself so I dont know how you would go about replacing a headgasket. I wasnt even sure what exactly was wrong with it other than the engine overheated numerous times in one day, and later on stopped working altogether.

  • @ANTIEMO571

If the engine overheated for no reason, that should have been your warning as to something being wrong. Still, there is no reason for the valves to have been bad. Even then, a run to the junkyard could have gotten you 2 complete heads with good valves, very cheaply, and it wouldn't require much more work, considering you have to take the heads off to get to the gaskets.

  • Hey, find some of those guys who think a Ford Escape is a great off-road vehicle and bring them along on this jaunt. LOL that would be the end of the Ford Escapes.

  • dakotas are the shit

  • why yes they are :)

  • badass

  • where did you get your bull bar for that

    zr2

  • cool, how do u like ur ZR2??? im thinking about getting one!

  • love the dodge

  • After watching this vid, I think I might get me a 4x4 s10 instead of the 2wd I was gonna get..good job man.

  • @PhuckThatShit Even the s10 2wd was nice. That thing never got stuck in the snow and if it did, it always got out for me. I had an '85 four-speed stick. It was a nice truck. Even when I flew off the side of the road and into the snow bank, my truck pulled right out WITHOUT a tow truck. It's a nice vehicle, either or. Plus, putting a front diff and transfer case in is not too hard. Just go to the junkyard for what you need and it bolts right on. ;)

  • thats pritty awsome. some times i wish i had the nimblness of a small truck.

  • To the Zr2 owner: Whats your ground-clearance at your lowest point? I have a Zr5 Crew Cab with a two inch body lift and 33's also. I'm just curious.

  • At 2:15 is exactly why I love my detroit locker in the rear of my truck.

  • Wouldnt it make more sense if GM would run a posi/limted slip in to a full locker and then upgrade the front axle to a solid axle instead of the crappy CV joint axles out of the factory?

  • the rear axle is a g80 locker from the factory not posi but the sfa sounds good

  • lol, those trucks look pretty beefy..i live in western mass...the meadows isnt really the place to show ur shit off, its all flat and a stock jeep cherokee can make it through the whole thing

  • Why couldn't they make the Zr2s with posi?

  • well lets see GM/chevy is to poor to do it from factory. its not hard to turn a limited slip into a posi by yourself.....

just weld the spiders, and shave down the sharp ends. bam you got yourself a posi. do a normal check up on the spiders to make sure there still holding up good. especially if you do alot of road driving with a homemade posi

  • because the g80 locker in them is better

  • this is a badas vid goodshit fellas

  • Yeah id say loose the shell too....but still a nice video! I dont have anywhere to mud like that around here! :(

  • thats what i thought but i never saw the point in a body lift

  • body lifts are cheaper and are good if ur just looking to gain a couple of inches for bigger tires

  • lose the topper on the s10 it looks like a blazer with the topper on

  • @sk8man420 A topper? lol a canope. a topper is like a bed cover..

  • pretty awesome video

  • can some one tell me the difference between a body and suspension lift?

  • A body lift is when you just lift the body and leave the rest of the truck where it is and a suspension lift makes the whole truck taller ... usually for more ground clearance and bigger tires

  • would the body lift just make the entrance and exit angles better?

  • a body lift just lifts the body higher off the frame..a suspension lift lifts up the frame and everything else also

  • the body lift still gives you the extra room to run a taller tire, doesnt that give your frame the extra ground clearance also

  • well yea technically with the larger tire it will raise the frame and the whole truck up..but a body lift alone wont raise the frame

  • i fucking love those zr2's

  • that look sooooo fun!!!!!!!!! cool vid

  • pretty sick video. that makes me what to go out and get my buddy to get his dodge dakota and go mudding with it

  • This is why I want one of those ZR2 package S10 pick ups but they're so hard to find where I live. The ones I find are too expensive or have too many miles. But I'll keep looking until I find one, they are awesome trucks.

  • just by a stock slap a sticker on it and a susp lift

  • love the trucks love the song

  • Aaaaaamazing video!!! can these trucks really do this? what song is that?

  • instead of getting a bodyt lift you should of got a suspension lift it sits better but not bad

  • hey casey i think you should of kept that truck it was pretty sick i am not going to lie i liked it alot i am thinking about getting either a s-10zr2 sonoma but i am not sure yet but i hope to statr talking agian me and you u8sed to have alot of fun going off-roading and i loved it when i worked for you that day in quincey but hey i am 12 houses up from you if you see me outside just stop i will be more then glad to talk to you.... mark

  • sonoma is gmc and s10 is chevy, i know what you mean but i just had to clear that up

  • Your s10 needs lockers bro, will do ALOT beter.

  • i finaly got to drive a z, it hade a blown head gaskit.nice truck im not infavore of the voretec tho.ive put alot ove head gaskits on them and replaced the uper intakes they alwas seem to brake.I really like my s10 and almost bout a 95 z non voretec. i like dodge to both trucks r good mid size trucks

  • dodges are only good for two things, breaking down and SUCKING ASS! s10 all the way!!!

  • I've owned a dodge for about 9 years now and never had a problem I hadn't caused myself from off-roading a little too hard. so you can try that comment again, bud.

  • lol are you joking? if were comparing 1/4 tons, dodge is easily the best, except maybe the colorado, but too much plastic. i will take a 2000-'04 dakota 4.7 4x4 over any 1/4 ton, any day.

  • hey i live in mass to, where are those trails??

  • Yeah i drove an S-10 zr2....fast truck man. I was actually racing one of my friends and I ended up colliding head on with a 81 caprice....and oddly enough I now drive a dakota haha......they both have their perks, the s-10 is faster, but id trust a dakota more offroad just because of the low-gearing of dodges. But i love s-10s too!! haha

  • what kind of dakota do you have dude? it should kill a 4.3, depends what motor and such you have i guess

  • @4point7Dakota wow, just saw this haha, but ive got a dakota with the 3.9, terrible motor, droppin in a 318 soon.

  • my bro ahs a 88 ranger with a 94 engine. it hauls, it could do prolly any of this, better at that one part where the s10 got stuck or w/e, but thats just because its got no locker. get one. nice trucks though, i love that S10

  • Give me the s-10 any day. better on gas but still has plenty of tire smoking power.

  • s10 is wayy better

  • No way. Dakota 4.7 V8 man. Bad ass truck. I know, I drive one every week on Saturday.

  • both trucks are great machienes im more prone to root for the zr2 cuz i own one but as long as its a chevy or dodge im good i hate ford!

  • Alright, but yeah that S-10 is an animal. Getting front and rear lockers couldn't hurt his cause, though :|

  • @420witchdoctor i own one and i love everything about it except the gas mileage, but regardless its a bad ass midsize

  • @dodjoo I agree, but for a almost fulsize truck, im averaging right at 16mpg. and if I drive very light footed and shift soon I can average about 18mpg. And mine is a crew cab

  • @420witchdoctor I own one haha , and its a crew cab! I love it!

  • aww damn, so awesome!!! XD You should check out my vids, I have an S10 Blazer. Some great offroad action you got there!

  • is that dakota 4 or 2wd

  • Its 4x4 it says it on the tail gate and I hope you dont think i'm answering this like an asshole

  • straight just didnt watch the hole video but thanks

  • Great vid, I'll watch for more.

  • kc why the hell did u put a cap on your truck..im calling you this weekend you need to help me fix my winch
