White people can get Vitiligo. I know because I have it and Im white. For those of you who are ignorant, white people aren't actually white (at least most of us aren't) . Just like black people are not really "black". There are many different shades. A white person with it (I have it) makes my skin VERY white. Ever heard of an albino. Even the hair on the colorless patch loses its color.
We can chalk up the skin depigmentation to the vitiligo. As for the nose and the other surgery? We can say he was the typical hollywood type that may pump up their lips or get a nose job. He probably did hate himself and the way he looked. He was abused and was always told he had to be better. So sue him. The kiddie thing I cant defend.
He did have vitiligo. You can see faint spots in some pictures of it thru all of the makeup. If you know he has it and then look for it, you can see it. At least early on till he got depigmentation. Makeup can do only so much so treatment for it once more than half of your body is to get rid of the rest of the pigment. That is unless the makeup artist powdered faint white spots on to his skin. I know this because i have it.

Its a matter of phenotypes vs genotypes. sometimes mixed people can actually come out looking completely like one particular race. This happens more often with mixed people(blk/white) looking more black but also happens the other way around.
My mom who is part american indian as Vitiligo, she is very open about it when people ask her about it. She started getting it when she was 10, In the same area as Michael.
I have it and just the thought of going to sleep with a nice smooth carmel skin color and wake up white really scares me to death. Michael Jackson handle it very well, I know I cant I'll die and this is not a fun thing.

Unless you were Jackson's dermatologist or at least knew him intimately, there is no way you can conclusively believe that he had Vitiligo. On the other hand, the totality of the evidence available to the public demonstrates that he DIDN'T have the disease. Few people believe that Michael Jackson had Vitiligo. On these images it appears he DOES have the disease known as Photoshop Vitiligo. It's also a heriditary autoimmune disorder which no other person in Jackson's family has. Jackson on the other hand had more "white" features than just his skintone... All of these pics were taken after his skin was already 10x lighter than his original color. These patches are the result of a skin lightening containing mercury. Strong skin bleaching creams will not bleach the skin evenly at first. This is what we are looking at in these pics. Show us some pics of Michaels skin when it was ebony (original color) with white patches, then you prove he had vitiligo.
All is beginning to make sense about Michael. He was not weird at all. He just suffered with this condition and tried to retain his dignity by covering it up. I also know that vitiligo affects hair - making it white - so parts of his lashes and eyebrows would have been completely white which explains why he had them tatooed on eventually or tinted. He wore those face masks and surgical masks and walked under the umbrella for a good reason. Look at Lee Thomas interview - he suffered too.
no Michael never had his eyebrows tattooed on..that's just a rumor...look in some of his videos from the bad era those brows don't look tattoed on...but he did dye his brows and hair black, because he would lose pigment..never tattoed them though..MJ dosen't have tattoos...and yea the umbrella and surgical mask was because of the vitiligo and because he wanted his privacy..he said that in an interview

I did a whole study on vitiligo for my college work, like a 6 page essay so i know my stuff. It isn't 'curable' there are treatments to make it looks less obvious, and creams that can remove the existing unaffected areas of the skin to make the skin more even. Doctors still haven't found the cause of it but their theory is it is passed in a specific faulty gene.
And he didn't bleach his skin atall. If you look at the news anchor on american tv he had vitiligo but no one knew.
(carrying on from my last comment) the news anchor had the disease and his skin turned ghostly white by itself, with no help from 'bleach'. The same happened to Michael, and if he used bleach then he would have used it on ALL patches on his body, but if you look it up properly, he still had brown patches on his arms and chest. Vitiligo is degenerative. You continue to lose pigment. There is no way to stay dark without extensive make up. It would have been make up over most of his body. That seems like an awful way to live. Covering up what become small dark patches was probably much easier and less stressful. But maybe not, given all the racial and personal crap he got about it.

I did not know that, but I suspected something like it. In any case, it has to make the person suffering from it very isolated and unhappy, because it becomes more and more obvious. I think in the beginning, most of his his body was it's original color. But as time passed, it took over most of his body and a small percentage of his body was that of his original color. I read that he tried to use make up to cover up the patches and even his skin out so that it wasn't noticable. Although there is a depigmentation process you can take, "I" don't think he underwent any procedures of that particular kind.
His entire body was not completely white. There are a couple of videos on here that show his patches. In his video "They Don't Care About Us", it's very noticeable.

That would explain why MJs eyebrows and eyelashes looked tatooed towards the end of his life. They would have been turning white from depigmentation. He would have gotten sick of dying them all the time. He probably had them tatooed.

Michael Jackson was not only diagnosed with Vitiligo he also had Lupus which also affect's the skin. The Lupus explains all the pain injections he was receiving daily. Michael Jackson should not have had to cover up his spots. Many animals have them, and nobody thinks they're weird. If an animal can look beautiful with spots, why can't a human? And there are some animals that are born a solid colour, but later on develop patches of another colour. I hope someday people will be more accepting of this skin condition and people with vitiligo won't have to hide it anymore.

the only thing i think messed up micheal jacksons looks in his later years, was the reconstruction of his nose.. i know he couldnt help the vitilago in his skin, and he might of wanted surgery to improve his looks, but i think his nose surgery was messed up.. Unless you were Jackson's dermatologist or at least knew him intimately, there is no way you can conclusively believe that he had Vitiligo. On the other hand, the totality of the evidence available to the public demonstrates that he DIDN'T have the disease. His true disease was one of the mind... he was a freak who need head help instead of dozens of surgeries trying to be white.

Few people believe that Michael Jackson had Vitiligo. On these images it appears he DOES have the disease known as Photoshop Vitiligo. It's also a heriditary autoimmune disorder which no other person in Jackson's family has. Jackson on the other hand had more "white" features than just his skintone... I'm sure you've noticed all the White Plastic Surgery on that face; especially that nose, and that he insisted a white actor play him in an biographical film about his life.

@mnpd007 He did not insist on having a white child play him in his autobiography he stated that in the Oprah interview He also stated in that same interview that he had vitiligo but since you obviously dont want to believe his word, he has pictures where you can clearly see thhe disease. Also, vitiligo makes the skin very thin and susceptible to skin cancer which is why he covered up so much.

All of these pics were taken after his skin was already 10x lighter than his original color. These patches are the result of a skin lightening containing mercury. Strong skin bleaching creams will not bleach the skin evenly at first. This is what we are looking at in these pics. Show us some pics of Michaels skin when it was ebony (original color) with white patches, then you prove he had vitiligo.

All is beginning to make sense about Michael. He was not weird at all. He just suffered with this condition and tried to retain his dignity by covering it up. I also know that vitiligo affects hair - making it white - so parts of his lashes and eyebrows would have been completely white which explains why he had them tatooed on eventually or tinted. He wore those face masks and surgical masks and walked under the umbrella for a good reason. Look at Lee Thomas interview - he suffered too.

no Michael never had his eyebrows tattooed on..that's just a rumor...look in some of his videos from the bad era those brows don't look tattoed on...but he did dye his brows and hair black, because he would lose pigment..never tattoed them though..MJ dosen't have tattoos...and yea the umbrella and surgical mask was because of the vitiligo and because he wanted his privacy..he said that in an interview

Great Job. I was once one of those people who didn't believe this about Michael. He had to endure a lot, because most people do not know too much about this disease. His makeup artist Karen discusses how they used makeup to even out his skin. Poor guy.
Anyone who believes that he forgot that he was black is incorrect. One of his recent videos was directed by Spike Lee, and he credits the origin of some of his dance moves, including Moomwalk, to the black boys in the neighborhood. RIP MJ :)

I did a whole study on vitiligo for my college work, like a 6 page essay so i know my stuff. It isn't 'curable' there are treatments to make it looks less obvious, and creams that can remove the existing unaffected areas of the skin to make the skin more even. Doctors still haven't found the cause of it but their theory is it is passed in a specific faulty gene.
And he didn't bleach his skin atall. If you look at the news anchor on american tv he had vitiligo but no one knew.

(carrying on from my last comment) the news anchor had the disease and his skin turned ghostly white by itself, with no help from 'bleach'. The same happened to Michael, and if he used bleach then he would have used it on ALL patches on his body, but if you look it up properly, he still had brown patches on his arms and chest. Very small but still there.

Vitiligo is degenerative. You continue to lose pigment. There is no way to stay dark without extensive make up. It would have been make up over most of his body. That seems like an awful way to live. Covering up what become small dark patches was probably much easier and less stressful. But maybe not, given all the racial and personal crap he got about it.

I think in the beginning, most of his his body was it's original color. But as time passed, it took over most of his body and a small percentage of his body was that of his original color. I read that he tried to use make up to cover up the patches and even his skin out so that it wasn't noticable. Although there is a depigmentation process you can take, "I" don't think he underwent any procedures of that particular kind.

Michael Jackson was not only diagnosed with Vitiligo he also had Lupus which also affect's the skin. The Lupus explains all the pain injections he was receiving daily. Let's not forget the scarring from the second degree burns he suffered in that pepsi commercial. He wasn't that weird when you know the truth.

it doesnt ALWAYS come in patches sometimes it can spread to where ur whole Face or hands or feet can be COMPLETELY white... its not a tamed disease that ONLY comes in patches it varies GREATLY.

i think he bleached his skin to cover all the spots which to me is fine but he should have stopped with the plastic surgeries if he did he would have looked fine

he might not have bleached his skin at all actually if you look really close in some videos you can still see some spots of brown on his arms. watch the video of they dont care about us and look closely and make sure you pause.

Michael Jackson should not have had to cover up his spots. Many animals have them, and nobody thinks they're weird. If an animal can look beautiful with spots, why can't a human? And there are some animals that are born a solid colour, but later on develop patches of another colour. I hope someday people will be more accepting of this skin condition and people with vitiligo won't have to hide it anymore.
