I'm pretty damn sure a Corporal and up, including the rank of Sergeant, is an NCO (although it's debatable how many of them are good NCOs, especially as anyone in the 35 series will tell you) -- non-commissioned officer. True, in the layman's use of the word "officer" she's not a commissioned officer, but for media purposes perhaps they got them mixed up.

i don't understand the objective of this interview. is it to portray the u.s. military as a criminal organization targeting civilians? this is totally one sided. If the hotel was an insurgent base then targeting it was acceptable. If there were civilians in the hotel then steps should have been taken so that they would not be targeted.
