I grew up in Austin and I remember running into this couple (Timbuk 3) where I was working on the way to Lake Travis. I asked them who this song was about. They replied it was about University of Texas students. At that time, you could drive down "the Drag" and see UT students wearing Wayfarer sunglasses almost exclusively, hence the Wayfarers in the video.
Did you give the donkey any shades, Timbuk 3? No, no you didn't. That's because your bright future doesn't include kindness to pack animals. For shame.
I really like this. I think it was Brad turned me on to this on Facebook. I love it! I told Craig it kind of reminds me of some of the music by Dire Straits! Love that harp! : )

"...produced this video themselves. You can tell, can't you?" And yet, it works. Pat McDonald was from Green Bay. Years later as a DJ in Chicago I played this repeatedly, never putting him together till a friend said, "You remember him from school, right?" Uh, no? But it's a fine song -- timeless really. Love the snippet "I'm heavenly blessed and worldly wise." That's just plain good. GB's other famous contribution to pop culture: Monk aka Tony Shaloub. Same era, but the other side of town.
