I played the violin for over 10 years.. the younger you start, the better. She's going to be fantastic in a few years! Just wait and see! Wish her the best.
Our Suzuki family loves this. We immediately noticed her strong bow hold, clean bow circles, and sensitive dynamics. Way to go Maya and congratulation to her fine teacher.
Your daughter is three here, but how close to 4 was she? I am fascinated that there is this potential with such a young child. This was lovely to watch as my daughter is nearly three and so I can only guess you have put a lot of work in! Is she suzuki trained and how often do you practise?Sam
God bless you for posting this. My 7 year old was frustrated in trying to learn this & was disheartened & crying. We saw your THREE year old playing so well, and she was inspired to try harder and dry up the tears. Thanks!
Why does the bow tension get lighter at 0:18 and again at 0:44? I'm sorry but that's not how I learned to play it. Although for a three year old that is VERY good!!! :D
hi, i just started my son for violin. he just turned 3 last january.but he couldn't concentrate during lessons. Am i starting too early? should I wait for another year?
@vivien26us The key in the beginning is short lessons (6-7 minutes). Then gradually lengthen them as he can handle it. Also, make sure to play the CD's alot!
I'm looking to buy a violin for my daughter...she said thats what she wants to play??? she is going to be 4 in about 3 months. What kind aof violin and size should I buy?
I would first find a teacher, and then ask them to help with instrument selection. Most stores have good rental programs, and at these sizes, the quality of sound they produce is pretty poor. Also, when Maya started lessons, it was some time before she even moved to the instrument. I would recommend starting to look for a teacher (visit and observe a few if possible), because the quality of the teacher is probably more important than the quality of the instrument.
@BalkiHasselhoff1 That's great that she wants to play the violin. Most music stores can help you pick out the right size of violin. It depends on how long her arm is. Definitely find a teacher before you find a violin though. They can tell you where to go and what you need. Don't worry about finding a nice violin for now, but one that you can trade back in after she's grown out of it. That is very important.
@BalkiHasselhoff1 Well it would proberly be to late to say this but get a teacher xD Since she is at a little age get one that is not to bad and not to good ( maybe get a rental since there is a high probellity that she will break it, I did and i'm older >_<) same goes for the strings and when she gets like really good and goes to region and stuff from school get her a really good quality one xD
@BalkiHasselhoff1 Rent one at first, because it wont be a full sized instrument . Ask the violin rental person for who they suggest for PATIENT teachers for young children..they know best. Good luck.
wow! absolutely amazing! i'm about to start teaching this to my violin class. I absolutely love the amazing bow hold and beautiful dynamics! great job and keep up the good work. I can't wait to this this darling on the big stages!
Oh and by the way, if you don't know, here are some deffinitions for you about the violin: forte=loud, metzo forte=medium (not too loud not too soft), piano=soft. Okay? =D
Um, do you honestly think you're talking to the 3 year old? LMAO keep talkin', Big Stuff. You show that 3 year old how much you know about big italian words.
i think oyu are jealous of the attention because she is a cute 3 year old girl and can probably play better than you did when you were 3 P>S ive played for two years now and im only 12
Sweetie listen. I play violin too. And I've been playing for 5 years. Okay. Don't put the bow on so heavy like that. Are you trying to play forte? Then gentally put the bow down on the string. But you were "good". =]

Love the little look of satisfaction after she took her bow.
Very nicely done.
- To those with youngsters interested in playing the violin, by all means rent. They outgrow the quarter and half sizes very quickly.
Strongly recommend the Suzuki method, at least for starters.
