I moved out of Las Vegas 22 months ago for many reasons, but the overly agressive cops was part of it. The amount of police shootings that they get away with is amazing. I'm glad I left town, it was only a matter of time before I had a run in similar to this. Jim S
Basically they are detaining you in violation of the Constitution for "contempt of cop". Police like these give all officers a bad name. Good job in standing your ground. When people acquiesce under these bullying tactics we all lose a bit of our freedom. Each time people stand up to this kind of behavior it serves to reinforce that we are guaranteed rights and freedoms under the constitution and that we live in a free country not a police state.
Good job. Once you got your bearings you were right to just keep asking, "Am I free to leave? Am I being detained?" That's all anyone should say when confronted by police who "ASK" you to do something that they have no legal basis to ask for.
In my opinion. Did this officer unlawfully detain a American citizen for national security? To protect a witness? Did he take a giant dump, on the constitution, men and women have fought and died for to protect some higher cause? NO he violated a sacred pillar of our freedom to stop a photo of a movie shoot. What a complete scumbag, in my opinion.

NICE! Gotta stand up to these stupid officers who don't know the law. You have a constitutional right to photograph in public.

Nice job man, way to hold your ground. Just because they ask nice doesn't mean it has to be done.
