  • i have to say the judges have been very harsh on him

i mean they asked him on the show and they know he's a political commentator in his sixties and a bit portly,

    what did they expect!

every week it was "YOUR DANCING WASN'T BRILLIANT, you portly man in your sixties"

  • it's frigging SHOW BUSINESS... not business.... SHOW-business...

  • You know what I also think is fantastic with all this?

These idiots used to defend their voting for him by saying 'It's just light entertainment, stop taking it so seriously, etc' but now he's gone, they're the ones who are turning it into some big moral issue and raving about 'the democratic system being ignored' and all that. Contradiction, anyone?

  • I want everyone who voted for John to imagine this scenario.

You have a job that you work incredibly hard at and one day, a high-up position becomes available and everyone expects you to get it. Unfortunately, a new guy has just started. They're completely incompotent but everyone loves them and they happen to be best friends with the boss and this new guy gets the job.

    What would you say then?

  • I will second that. All these people that are saying that this is not a dance contest but an entertainment show don't seem to realise that one of the elements that make the show entertaining is the fact it is a contest.

Anyway the show is thinking of making a new rule to avoid this happening again. It is called 3 strikes. It means if a couple ends up bottom of the judges leaderboard for 3 weeks running, they will automatically be eliminated with no dance off. What do you think of this rule?

  • I'm glad you agree and I think that rule would be a vast improvement. This whole issue has died away now and I don't want to deal with it again

  • Anyone who tries the dances deserves the credit, and the votes, however people should vote if their contestant can actually dance. Don't vote because of popularity, vote for that person if they are really good! You do a disservice to the contestant by voting strictly on popularity and because you might not the judges comments and scores.

  • wtf is wrong with himi leaving. GOOD RIDDANCE!! the judges were doing their job.. JUDGING!! he wos bullocks! shit at every dance he did! he should have realised he didnt deserve to be there and fuked off ages beforehand

  • he was popular

not that you would know anything about that

  • He was only popular because the judges cunted him off. Mark Foster was more entertaining because he was a worse dancer than John. JS was very clever and knew how to win the public vote and then there's uproar when he leaves. He choose to leave and wasn't pushed out. I think he knows he could have won it and if he had Strictly would have been finished.

  • nahh

cos he was a serious political correspondant

    and his dances were funny

he was so bad he was good in my opinion

  • I thought Mark Foster was as worse. People need to remember as already said , he walked, he wasn't pushed. people angry because he left should be angry with him. He was going on his cruise and that's why he walked.

  • lol if he had won this it would be funny as fuck

  • johnny um yer baby johnny dont you owe baby something? hit skit runder boona cucha

ride it johnny rooms too cool with you stopping those sweaty bodies.

  • hahaha are you serious? sergeant is an arrogant prick, not funny at all, shit dancer and a fat cunt.

  • would you have the balls to do what he did and up to his standard.

  • who gives a f*ck about what the judges think?! Its all about who the VIEWERS want to win. Thats the only reason this show is on the air in the first place.

The judges just can't take it that Sergeant is more popular then they will ever be.

  • Wake up you dozey tossers, it doesn't matter who you waste your money on the phone for, it's fixed see.

  • Oh for Gods sake, Sergeant wasn't "forced to leave" - he only entered as a joke, and the public have been keeping him in there by stubbornly voting for him despite the fact he can't dance. I think he was right to bow out gracefully. And I've never watched the programme, I've better things to do with my Saturday nights.

  • for an song that sums up all of this listen to Jon Nickoll's "Goodbye sanity" on youtube!

  • Why would anyone waste their lives watching this crap let alone give a shit!

  • If it is for entertainment, then it shouldn't be so serious. BBC producers need to think harder about who they think will actually have potential on the show because they know perfectly well that the public will vote for who they like whether they can dance of not. I think John was bullied and treated unfairly. I know it wasn't fair on the other dancers either but it wasn't his fault people liked him!

  • I think it's absolutly disgusting that this poor man has been forced to leave the programme. Ok, so he wasn't very good at dancing, so what? At the end of the day, the programme states that you vote for your favourite, and he was obviously peoples favourite! I don't understand the judges constantly making him feel guilty when its not his fault people like him! He got invited onto the show at the end of the day.

  • Sack the judges NOW

  • Why? All they are doing is doing their job. John has admitted that he was not forced or bullied out of the compitition and all they are doing is giving their professional opinion on the dance.

  • Everyone saluting John Sergeant massively fails. It's like so stupid it's not funny. I couldn't sleep after seeing his leaving video as it is so wrong. They had no badge to salute from, and they were saluting a rank that you shouldn't salute. C'mon BBC, actually make yourselves look clever for once.

  • they are celebrities, not dancers... yes. but the challenge is TO DANCE. if hes not improving anymore and hes the worst dancer he should be voted off. the entertaining thing is seeing the dancers improve and become really good, not watching some idiot plod about. its much more rewarding to watch someone take the competition seriously and really improve and really enjoy dancing.

after seeing him on it takes two i dont really like him anymore

  • lol

  • Why doesn't Bruce Forsythe have the decency to follow him (ASAP). Poor old thing.

  • who gives a fuckin shit anyway

  • hey dumbass below me

you copied us so STFU ok

look it up if you dont believe me

    stupid yank

  • is this a British version of dancing with the stars? They are always copying from us.

  • Actually, I think you'll find it's the other way round. The people you make Strictly took it over to America.

You copy us most of the time.

    The office?

Who wants to be a millionare?

I;m a celebrity, get me out of here?

    Pop Idol?

    Scrapheap challenge?

yeah. all british ones that you nicked

so take the advice of applemonster and shut the fuck up and get your facts right.

  • yo I was being sarcastic man. I know we copy from you. We just make the shows better.

  • The office? Think you'll find it was the British.. And the American one sucks.

  • ethier1234: yeah. thats the point i was making.

kingchaunc: i think you'll find that sarcasm is hard to spot when its written down.

  • stupid yank

  • yip yip cherrio go eat some fish and chips. American kicked your ass 300 years ago and we will kick it again.

  • pip pip tally ho you anus

  • you did "kick our arse" i suppose, and now you're the most hated country in the world. the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without any form of civilisation in between (Wilde). your short cultural history explains your infantile morals and ethically corrupt society of gluttony mixed with abject poverty. TEAM AMERICA!! F**K YEAH!!! stupid yank.

  • why not do the civilised British thing and rise above it, dude?

this transatlantic handbag fight is so boring.

  • John returns or the judges go.

    That is fair.

    Are the BBC supporting bullying?

I belive calling him a "dancing pig" and then going into the wider media to tell the auidence not to vote for him.

  • To replace this show next year; "Dancing on Ice". No skates. Just dancing, on ice.

  • john, it isnt strictly come dancing, its strictky entertainment, thats what you gave us!!!! thank you, im sorry you had to go x

  • John Sargeant you selfish bastard! No I jest.

I am the selfish one. I kept voting for him just to see Christina each week. I hope she comes back for the next series with someone(only slightly!) better than John. Ultimately I think the judges were the ones out of order.

Good luck to John and especially Christina.

  • its a shame and all that he's decided to pull out, but at least now somebody decent will have earnt their victory.

  • about time! john was entertainin n sweet but the joke got stale when the good dancers got voted off

  • It's a show FOR the public, and he was voted IN byt the public.

If he won, it's because the public wanted him to win.

    Sad.

  • The sight of a wonderfully elegant and physically eloquent woman, Kristina, who has not unsexed herself, holding up, with kindness and sympathy a gentlemanly-mover like John was an expression of something rare and delightful to behold. It was voteworthy and a kind of meaningful art. But the BBC which seems to love lust and hard heartedness could not take it. Their loss?

  • What? why on earth is this on the news? wth. loada crap. dont give a rats arse if someone doesnt want to dance. tell me something interesting in the news plz.

  • why did you watch this video if you don't care. this isn't the news, it's youtube.

  • "John Sergeant Quits Strictly Come Dancing - BBC News"

... bbc news. so it says in the title.

BECAUSE I SAW THIS ON TV AND ITS LIKE I CANT JUST MOAN AT THE TV ABOUT IT. so youtube it is.

  • omg i loved dat dance he is dragging her across the floor lyk a bag of spuds=] lol

  • Can't believe he went... he was the best bit of the show!

now its just damn right boring!

  • omg i hate SCD. I really do

    watch Xfactor :P:P

  • John Sergeant= the Rick Waller of whateverthisbloodyshowiscalled.

  • I had heard rumours about him, but after watching 'It Takes Two' last night I can now confirm that James Jordan is the scum of the earth.

  • Did JS consult his dance partner? she's brilliant and deserves to go on! (I think Hitler had the full compliment, his alleged sinular sexual prob' was just propoganda I think)

  • she's got paid loads for this. she probably doesn't care either way. anyway, she'll be back next series...

  • it's a brits thing , won us a couple of wars , singing silly songs in the undergrounds , and did he only have one ball !!!

  • wtf?

not sure what your trying to say....

  • just sayin it's ok just to have a bit of fun , there's too much serious shit everywhere

  • in which case i agree :)

  • So are we meant to take this show seriously now?

Washed up celebs prancing around in glittery costumes is still kinda funny though.

  • I'm going to miss John dancing with Kristina on SCD. He was definitely the most likeable and entertaining contestant on the show. The behaviour of the judges towards him was disgusting and pathetic, especially from the bitchy Arlene. As for James, he's a right twat.

  • You've got to be kidding? He wasn't likeable. Everytime I heard him say 'The judges can complain all they like, it's not down to them' I wanted to punch his smug little face.

And don't get angry with the judges. You dance crap, they insult you. Understand?

James is a right twat though. :)

  • I think it would have been great if John had won. Only in England would people get behind an underdog with so much support and enthusiasm, and I think that's lovely. BBC - if the public want to vote for John, then that's their choice: let the English public be English!!!

  • The only ones that have been bullied this year are the judges who in fact are only doing their job-critiquing the dancing ability of the celebrities which they do very well for ALL the stars not just John lets tell the truth here already! BTW John sd himself that he never thought he would be there this long-ive seen reporters state that he hs a holiday booked in 2 wks-so there is the REAL REASON he quit

  • I agree. What do u think to the new rule they are inroducing?

  • What is the new rule?

  • It is called 3 strikes. If a couple ends up bottom of the judges leaderboard 3 weeks in a row, they will be automatically eliminated without facing the dance off. What do you think of it?

  • Hmm, it's a bit extreme. I was never a John fan, but he shouldn't have dropped out. It was very noble of him. Poor John.

  • thats a terrible rule. i thought the point of the show was that it was for entertainment. We're paying for the show, so we should get to choose.

  • I am hoping it will get more people to vote 4 the best dancersbinstead of the sympathy vote.

  • i don't think it was a sympathy vote, the public aren't that nice (have you seen im a celeb!?), i think its that he was funny. he was genuinly entertaining and thats what the show should be about.

  • I do not mean to offend people, but if the public were keeping John in for the entertainment, then they have no taste. The good dancers provide better entertainment if you ask me.

  • *sigh* They're celebrities, not dancers. if you want to watch good dancing then go and watch professionals. Its a reality show.

  • EVERYONE- BBC Complaints we need 2000 complaints to get him back.

  • So the next series will all be great dancers to start so this doesnt happen again ,oh my god it will be SO boring!! Go John get your own show now we love you x

  • The way the BBC uses bad publicity to promote it's shows. Blue peter, Brand and Ross now this.

    Desperate.

  • How did the BBC promote anything with Ross and Brand? How do the BBC use bad publicity? How is this bad publicity? Please explain what you mean!

  • PLEASE READ BBC!

Give John his own show! He is one of your best talents and has been for many years but you have never given him what he deserves! Thumbs me up if you agree!

  • that James Jordan guy is a stuck-up wanker.

  • I just think it's a crazy world when a decent man is hounded and snarled at and told outright he had no right to still be in an ENTERTAINMENT show. So he decides to end the childish, catcall charade and then those same people (James Jordan, a prime bitter example) call him a coward and self-publicist for leaving. Twisted, bizarre, hypocritical bullshit.

  • Do these "taking it serious" celebrities NEED to win this competition? Is it a West End audition or is it a Saturday night ENTERTAINMENT show? People who voted for John WEREN't ruining the careers of celebrities who already have careers. Stop taking ENETERTAINMENT so seriously. Not everything in the world revolves around VOTES..., although phone-in shows would have you believe otherwise.

  • Agreed. I think it IS about the public's vote seeing as they're paying for the programme in the first place. John should stay and win it for the people's license fees!!

  • I know I have said this many times, but the judges are giving there professional opinion. When they say John is poor, they are not telling him stories, it is the truth. It is a DANCE, I repeat DANCE contest, not a popularity contest. All the pros and celebs want to win. Now he is gone, the public can focus on voting for the best dancer. Austin or Rachel to win for me.

    VOTE FOR THE DANCE.

  • Sorry but the moment they opened it to a public vote it ceased to be about just dancing. The public are not dance experts, but they know what they like. The judges may be judging the dancing but the public are judging the entertainment factor. They wanted John to stay on because they enjoyed it more. This is not a specialist ballroom dancing show but a light entertainment program - deal with it.

  • I will miss him so much =(

  • There is conclusive evidence that poor Humpty

    Dumpty was pushed.

  • An excellent way of stating the truth.

  • I am disgusted by the way this poor old harmless, funny man,who never hurt anyone and who is a British institution, was treated by those abusive, rude louts.I for one hope Brand and Ross DIE.....lol

  • I WILL MISS THE MR BEAN OF DANCE

  • Must have been a slow day in the news.

  • John needs to go to Xscape cas today, i love his dancing!!!Xx

  • Arlene: I hate you! Keep your comments for yourself and your family. John is not a pig, he's just an ordinary English man learning to dance. At least he tried his best; my late British husband lived in South America, he loved the music, the people and the environment but he never, ever moved one single foot or his hips for fear to look silly. Give some credit to John and apologise for your nasty comments!

  • james jorden wants to get a life this is a bloody tv entertainment show nothing else and he was providing us with the reason to watch this show. They are too many biggots on this show and as for Arlene Philips what a one she is slagging him off with the other members of his covern week in and week out its a travesty that he has felt pushed into a corner and felt he had to quit.Lets hope these bullies of judges and other people who have lambasted him feel sorry for themselves.

  • its only a daft saturday night tv programme. who cares?

  • Oh my god!!!!!!! I can't believe that he's dropped out i will miss him but he should have gone out on the last show cause he is quite rubbish!!!!!

  • Can't believe this made the news.

  • WOO HOO!!!!!!! Bout flippin time he should of gone weeks ago because of him good contesants would get voted off like Cherie, Heather etc im happy!!!

  • i voted john! without him the show is no so great

  • At least spell his surname right you twits. The judges and professions dancers are digusting for their public humilation of John.

  • nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I am simply annoyed that people like james jordan say that john has quit simply to look like "a hero" and get attention. Why do people always look for the worst in others, or think they have some hidden agenda. I believe John wanted to leave for the reasons he expressed.

  • nooooooo john seragent was the best I was voting for him to win all the way .

I think its terrible that he has to pull out just because of people comments and people that arn't liked (thats why they got voted out who cares if they are good dancers)

  • HA! Arlene phillips; "sad to see him go". LIES. they've ruined the show.

  • roflmao at 2:27 - stroppy teddy. Luv the kid who said that. Too bad John, they should have thought of that before inviting you on the show. John did 6-7 hours a day too and his partner is an excellent dancer - wow the split glide thing was amazing! I suspect a good portion of the votes were for her! noticed a new rule about whoever is in the bottom 2 for 3 weeks is auto booted out... so why are we asked to vote again???

  • he left so what

BBC have said anyone who voted for him can get a full refund do whats the problem

and the poeple say they arent watching it again cos hes gone thats a bit pathetic tbh

  • The viewers voted to keep him, is telephone voting a waste of money? He has left in disgust, for the cruel remarks made about him.

I am disappointed that he decided to pull out, and his comment about winning was to hit back at all the people, including the judges who made those comments. Good for you John!

  • Boris Johnson,Peter Mandleson,Jonathon Ross,Russell Brand,Dave Snooty and his chums,Adam and Jane, the BT home hub couple . . . and now John Sergeant! . . the worlds gone mad . . democracy is on the brink I Tell you. The king is dead, long live the king.

  • The public should decide, and we have decided to keep him in.

Does anyone really believe that this has not happened as a result of the overpayed judges making threats to the producers and John being forced to quit, despite what he is saying publicly.

  • NOOOOOO

He made strictly so much better

Its only because all the judges were horrible about him

Rachel should leave because her and vincent are getting way too close

    Vincent clearly loves her

Poor Kristina, she deserved to stay in because she was FANTASTIC dancer

  • john has left the competition everyone i am being serious! don't watch stricly on saterday!

  • thank god he gone, he should hav been in the audience since week 1!! he was entertaining but to many good dancers hav been voted out wen he has been saved its not on! the show is call strictly come DANCING not strictly come ENTERTAINING or POPULARITY!! i am glad he has gone. and i agree with jaradoref about the three strick rule its a good idea! they should reinstate cherie to!! she was a great dancer i was sad to see her go xx

  • They actually ARE going to do it as from next series.

  • Won't be watching this again. If the public vote for John it is because they like him.

Lets get rid of Philips now.

  • this sux :(

  • I'm no long going to watch strictly now he's gone.

  • Another victory for the people who`s heads are stuck up their own asses! If this is how it`s going to be, then lets have rid of the whole crappy lot of of `em,starting with I`m a Celebrity and finishing at X Factor. What`s the point of having a public vote??...oh I remember, to grab all your telephone vote money!!Good riddance to reality shows.

  • They have made a new rule from next series to avoid a repeat of this. It is called 3 strikes. If you end up bottom of the judges leaderboard for 3 weeks running, then you will be automatically eliminated without facing the dance off. What does everyone think of this?

  • It's a DANCE contest not a popularity contest, he should have gone 2 weeks ago.

  • I feel John should have gone weeks ago but he was entertaining and the public supported him, I feel sorry for Kristina after doing all the hard work, lloking forward to the SCR it takes two to hear all the latest news!

  • what kind of news is this? i would prefer the bbc not to show any news at all than this! this is very below your standards bbc

  • Thank god he is! They should reinstate Cherie! Atleast all the dancers left are good. Sorry everyone, this is called Strictly Come Dancing, not Strictly Come Make-a-fool-of-yourself-on-the-dance-floor. The better dances are far more entertaining!

  • Gutted!!! What happened to democracy? Random songs win the Eurovision every year because of block voting!!! Why do we (the Brits) have to be so "correct" to the point of removing popular personalities from contests for "fear" of them winning?!?! It's ridiculous!

  • i was getting really annoyed cos he keep staying like last week wen cherie went out i was prober annoyed but now dat he has gone im gonna miss him!!! WERID!!! xx

  • so gutted he's gone!!!!

  • if they didn't want people like john sergeant to win, why do they put people that will obviously be terrible dancers on the show.

    its a bloody joke

  • I feel sorry for Kristina - what a pure pleasure to watch.

I'm not surprised John has left. The cruel remarks were becoming too much.

    Him and Kristina were fabulous.

  • John Should have gone but im sad he's gone. Yeah why r people voting for him? Good Luck John,

  • I never liked John but for him to stand down is sad because its true its not his fault he was getting public support he did deserve to go ages ago but i was looking forward 2 see his jive mainly for a laugh but sure nobody forced him to go.

  • To be fair, whilst I do agree that it does "make a joke" of SCD, it is unfair on the public who PAID MONEY TO RING TO KEEP HIM IN. He should not have quit and instead have stayed in. If he won, he won, if he lost, he lost. Ulimately, the public decide who wins this show, not the celebs themselves.

  • When JS himself sd that the ppl voting for him was turning SCD into a 'joke to far' and therefore pulled out because of it, it just shows how petty and foolish the ones voting for him actually are. It is them that forced him into it not the judges!

  • That two faced bitch Arlene Phillips, sad to see him go my arse, on breakfast tv the other day she said he was rubbish in every way and that she didn't want to she him get in to the final, Arlene Phillips should be the one to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Glad he's gone, he was shite

  • The public would never have voted him to win, he would never have kept in long enough to knock out anyone who could have won. Cherie struggled with Latin, Heather was incredibly hit and miss and so on. I think the only people it would have been horrific to see leave because John staying would be Austin, Tom, Lisa and Rachael. Otherwise he could have finished 5th in my opinion and I'd have been happy!

  • Its hilarious now they make such a big deal about how people were voting for him :S they were getting money out of it by the end of the day, and kicking him out or whatever, has just lost them money, the people that voted for john arnt exactly going to vote for anyone else are they, so yeah, good move. NOT. shan't be watching anymore! They just made the show totally boring, mm, yeah, well done.

  • I think the BBC could do well out of this by having two shows next year.

One show for none Professionals under 30 and a second show for none Professionals over 40

Every ones happy and we get to watch Strictly twice.

  • If the BBC put this drivel on twice next year I will demand a fefund.

  • Ok I'll re-phrase that, every ones happy barr one !!

  • Then why are you so interested in the story.

  • Assuming he was going to win what a joke!!

  • LOL. Oh dear, he should of quit before.

  • they forced him out. Everyone should boycott it now, he was the only reason I watched it anyway.

  • totally agree with you! i never watched strictly before i only watched it to watch him because it was entertaining, what did they expect out of him anyway you can see he isnt exactly billy elliot for christ sake

  • The only ones that caused this uproar are the ones that voted for him in their attempt to make a mockery of the show. The reality is that now the true reason he wanted to leave this week are; 1. he couldnt imagine trying to do the jive without complete humiliation 2. He is booked to go on a cruise next week as a speaker. So now can you judge bashers give it a rest by so loudly proving who the true bullies of the show this year are YOU and not the judges or the BBC!

  • right move.

  • It's not fair! >:(
