  • this is so beautiful. when i was in Istanbul back in July, i was awoken by this beautiful call to prayer every morning, and went to sleep with it every night. amazing :)

  • great view

  • dude that is so amazing im not really a fan of religion too much, but i can't deny the beautiful architecture of mosques and holy buildings.

that blue mosque and hagia sophia were built by the byzantines just the thought of that and the music with the architecture is an amazing sight that i hope to visit in the future.

  • The Hagia Sophia was built by the Byzantines. The Blue Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 by Sultan Ahmet, a Muslim Turk, not a Byzantine.

  • yea you're right the blue mosque was built after istanbul was already under ottoman rule sorry about that mistake

  • @beatthecrowd001 Indeed, the Blue Mosque closely resembles Byzantine architecture; however, it was actually built by the Ottoman Turks to surpass the scale of Hagia Sophia. Moreover, the music you hear isn't music at all, it's an Islamic Call to Prayer and I agree that it's compelling.

  • @beatthecrowd001

I agree completely. Just a quick note: the Blue Mosque was built by the Ottomans in 1616, well after their conquest of Constantinople from the Byzantines in 1453. But yeah, the Hagia Sophia was originally Byzantines and converted into a mosque. This place has been at the crossroads of history for millenia; a truly amazing city, both historically and today. The hookah's good too.

  • @beatthecrowd001.....The blue mosque was built between 1609 and 1616, during the rule of Sultan Ahmed I. By a student named Mehmet Aga. Like many other mosques, it also comprises a tomb of the founder, a madrasah and a hospice. While still used as a mosque, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque has also become a popular tourist attraction.

  • @beatthecrowd001

Blue mosque was built by Turks, Hagia Sophia was built by byzantines.

  • @beatthecrowd001 Blue Mosque was built by Ottomans.

  • @beatthecrowd001 they were christian temples in the past..

  • I had dinner at the top of the Arcadia Hotel in 2005. We were lucky enough to be there during the call to prayer. An amazing memory. It was a beautiful experience.
