Question!! If someone were in the crown on the morning of 9-11, would they have been able to see Flt. 175 fly over and impact the South Tower?

People certainly saw it from Liberty Island. There is little chance that the 2nd plane will have been seen from the crown had anybody been inside. There wasn't because it was only 9.30am and they didnt open the crown quite that early on, they were still carrying out their morning checks when the 1st plane hit the towers. The view of Manhatten is only seen from the far left windows in the crown if you lean and peer through those small windows.

Another question...after being up there, do you think there would have been enuff room for the scenes in the first X-men movie to have really happened the way they did?

@Hollywood115F16 Hey- The scene INSIDE the crown?, not a chance! The interior crown has been exaggerated in the movie. The exterior scenes on top of her head are pretty much to scale.

The real space inside her crown is really not that big. The standing floor space extends around the crown windows, but the rest of it is taken by the stairs, and theres big lights in the back of her head which come on at night to illuminate her crown windows. 12 people will fit nicely (10 tourists 2 rangers)

@drummergirll Though from personal experience, its much MORE comfortable when it is not full to capacity- the less people then better! One day when I went it was SO windy, and freezing cold, so hardly anybody turned up, so I got my chance to experience the crown almost by myself, and boy was she rockin and moving around!! It was alot of fun up there that day! She is designed to move about in the wind so nobody was worried, but apparently she hadnt moved around so much all year till then!

Did you see where the access door to the torch arm was? If you did, what did it look like? Was it a really small or normal sized door?

@Hollywood115F16 Hey :D Yes I did see the access door to her arm and torch- It can be seen on the 'down' staircase, under her neck, in her shoulder- There is a platform that you would climb onto from the stairs- which has a grill over it with a padlock- The platform extends 6ft or so and at the end of it, you can see the bottom of the ladder to the torch. If you want more information on the Statue of Liberty, message me, and ill give the park rangers a run for their money :P

@drummergirll That is awesome :-) I think the inner structure of Ms. Liberty is very impressive. Ive been to the statue YEARS ago but didnt get the chance to make the climb to her crown. I have always wanted to, and by your reaction in the video, it seems well worth the wait! :-)

@11zlheck123 most of october is still available (07/28/10) just go to statuecruises com, buy tickets, select crown tickets, with or without audio tour its upto you.. the audio tour is very detailed, and informative, and some of my friends were featured on it :D

Then you can choose your date by looking through the calender.. any date with underlines is available- look to the right and it will say what times are available.

@11zlheck123 you should persuade your parents to let you onto the island, because you get better views of the Lady. and better photos there, and also can buy proper statue of liberty souvenirs- the statuettes are made just 4 miles from the Lady herself :D. To me she is the most beautiful lady in the world :)

@11zlheck123 - Great!! - well I hope you can get your wish! You wont be able to go right up to the crown, as you have to book online, quite a bit in advance.. August and September 2010 is completely sold out... You can however get tickets to go into the pedestal, and the museum inside there- and you can climb the pedestal to a balcony just below the lovely ladys feet. Tickets are $12, or $5 for children between 5-12.

This is a great video! I also love the Statue of Liberty. I have been obsessed with her since I was a child. I finally got the chance to climb to the crown in Nov. 2009. It was amazing. I hope to go again soon. Take care!

Up in the crown you notice her swaying side to side in the wind. She is designed to do that and its meant to happen.. It is only a slight sway, which varies according to the wind. You also 'feel' people climbing up the stairs and walking past, through the floor of the crown

I went up there 4 times, and I look forward to when I can go back and do it again!

Most people that went up only stayed for 5 minutes, and only a few people dare stick their cameras out of the window to get pictures..

Me i was in there for at least an hour every time I went up there, and I had my arm stuck out the winow, my head, my camera, my camcorder... lol

There is a little one going up near to there but its only for emergency use, and you would be lucky to fit 2 standing people in it
