hey erin, i have two comments:

1) i am in the totally same boat with you about facial cleansers and animal testing :( i use nivea and i love it, but at the same time the rumours circulating .. ugh! when i'm not a starving student i'll be on the hunt for something else, but for now ....

2) i have also recently broken out on my back!! this has NEVER happened to me before, and i've been trying neutrogena for over a month and i have seen NO improvement. do you recommend the oxy pads??

I love Clean and Clear as well, but I live in Norway and they don't sell them here ... I have to buy them when I'm in like, London or something, and that's not too often :( I really wish we had Clean and Clear in Norway.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the testing, I got really choked up about the topic when I looked into it as well. But in reality, there isn't any way around it. Even if it says on the package "not tested on animals," that might mean they merely contract other companies to do the testing. Sadly there isn't a way around it :\ plus with this recession it's really hard. But I give you kudos for trying! If I could I'd stop as well. xox

I use biore they don't test nether does clearasil. I went cruelty free, it's not that hard. Most of my makeup is Revlon, NYX, and Almay. I understand it may not be as easy for you, but I couldn't live with myself thinking about it...

I use the same cleanser and nuetrogena spf 15 oil free moisturiser and for spot treatment clean and clear persa gel and that has really cleared all my acne! =] I recomend the persa gel if you want to get rid of acne fast, it does dry your skin but use a goo moisturiser!

if i used all that like tht my face would be so dry. i use the neutroena mask , grapefruit scub. the olay face wash to remove my makeup and some nuetrogena moisterizer with no cne stuff in it. o and i do use the clean and clear advantage acne spot treatement

Body Shop has great skincare stuff if you're looking for stuff that isn't tested on animals AND it's fairly affordable (mid range price)

also, look into it because Life brand from Shoppers drugmart does skincare AND does NOT test on animals and is dirt cheap

clean and clear is my favorite brand to nutrigina just neaver worked on my face... i love the 3 step skin care thing and my favorite product is the mousterizer it took away my oil!!! oh and i really want to try the morning boost or orange bottoles from clean and clear my bff has it she said it really wakes her up!!

I bought the 3 step thing from clean and clear but I'm confused with it. At night should I wash my face, put the moisturizer on and then oput the small tube thing? Or should i wash my face and night and put the small tube thingy and wake up in the morning and wash it off.

and for the moisturizer should I put it on before I put the makeup on?

I know this is going to sound really strange, but for my body acne, I use diaper rash cream at night. I use this stuff called Bourdreaux's Butt Paste (from Target), and all I do is wipe my skin with something like Oxy pads and then rub that where it's broken out. I put on a t-shirt and go to sleep. I always see a dramatic difference in my skin by morning. And I don't know if it's just that particular brand of cream, it's the only one I've tried. But it works and it's cheap! :)

really, that's cool how long have you been using this method. i use the neutrogena oil free acne stress control body wash (the green one) and after that using the rapid treatment pads also from neutrogena...my skin is clear now :D love love. but i'll try w/e that paste is lol :D

I've been using it for about a year now and it keeps my skin really clear. People just always think I'm weird for using diaper rash cream, but whatever. And if your skin breaks out easily you have to use it comtinuously every night. And it doesn't make it disappear instantly, but in just one night (for me at least) I see a significant difference in the size of the blemishes.

ive tried all of the neutrogena body washes.the pink grapefruit and acne stress control are the best for acctually helping acne.the body scrub was the worst,it didnt do anything.get the pink grapefruit one though,its the best for body acne and it smells amazing!

I just thought I would let you know that St.Ives does not test on animals and it is sold at most drugstores...I'm not trying to make you change what you use or anything. I had the same problem looking for a cheap product that doesn't test on animals and found these products.

Actually there are a few drugstore brands that don't test on animals: Revlon, Physicians Formula, Milani, Almay, Flirt!, Jane, OPI, Wet N Wild, Bonnebell

Skin care wise, there's St. Ives, Biore, and non drug store brands like Bath & Body works & Victoria's Secret.

But Erin you can use whatever you want.

I know its not Clean and Clear, but when i had a little acne on my back (and when i sometimes get a few spots here and there these days), i tried Burt's Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. I went to the doctor for a treatment too but nothing was working until i found this. It smells strong and not too great, but you get used to it. Its basically a roll on liquid which dries pretty quick, but you see results over night. Its about $8 and it lasts a long time. I totally recommend this!

Yes, I understand that animal testing is bad, but I would rather not have chemical burns on my face, thank you very much. When it comes to skincare you run the risk of having an unstable product when it's not tested on animals. It's dangerous, since there are acids in there that could potentially mess up your whole face, leaving scars forever.

I love animals, but sometimes, it is necessary for animal testing.
