in the Southeastern US, Dozers do almost all the fire suppression because handcrews cannot effectively work. we use Cat D-4 & D-5's and JD 650's with fire plows.

Wildland fires are put out by Brains, Guts and Braun. Having said that it's Hand Crews, Air and Dozers.  I was a Capt with a large So Cal Dept for 24 years. The Proudest times I spent were with our Heavy Equipment Unit as a Dozer Boss. I have been in many situations ove the years but to see what these guys do with that Iron is awe inspiring. TK

They recover fire to choke this last, make trenches to avoid the propagation and it arrives there very well!
