90% of Somali pirates are ex-fishermen, who were forced to quit fishing, because of international corporations, and their mechanized and effective fishing methods. They practicly stole 95% of fish stocks from Somali coast, and once coast was clean from fish, Somali fishermen had to seek other ways to feed their family.

Think about that next time you eat your 1$ fish fingers. This kind of capitalism brings huge ammount of misery to the world. God damn it you people are blind...-.-

Pirates won't stop pirating, as long as its their only way to feed their families. Do those pirates look like someway rich to you, someway well-enough-doing that they might have a choise between not pirating and pirating. Surprise, surprise, they don't have any kind of welfare system there. If you can't feed your family, your family will starve. I wouldn't wonder one robbing a bank, if it'd be only way to keep ones family alive.

All pirates are fair game. If you choose to hunt other people in order to save yourself you must expect the countrymen of those innecent people to consider you their enemy. What happened was foreign ships would drop their toxic waste or normal waste into the waters off these african coasts, killing the fish. The africans there are fishermen so they boarded a ship to stop the unlawful dumping of waste. When they realized they could make money from this they kept doing it.
