Since global temps have steadily dropped since their high in 1997 why does the Whitehouse still believe in gloabl warming which most scientist now believe to be a farce?

This "trend" you speak of is purely statistical manipulation by people who do not want to accept responsibility for climate change. If you assessed these same global temperature trends using a starting date of 1996 or 1998 to the present the trend would show an increase in global temperature. There only exist a decreasing trend from 1997 to the present b/c of the abnormally high temp of that year due to natural variability. FYI, globa temp has not steadily decr since 1997, the trend decreases.

Actualy the average temp has fallen .74 degrees since 1998. Most scientists (not receiving global warming grants) now agree that man made global warming is a farce. Given that it comes from Al Gore who was also the inventor of the Y2K bug scam is it any wonder? Al made his first fortune on Y2K and is now making even more money on global warming. You're kidding me right? First of all, the past decade has been the WARMEST ON RECORD. Not to mention 2005 is arguably the hottest year on record, in contention with 1998. And even if you were right, brief drops in global temps mean NOTHING within the larger trend of global rising temperatures. And here's a REAL statistic: 97% of scientists who ACTUALLY STUDY CLIMATE are in total agreement that anthropogenic global warming exists and presents a very serious problem.

Also, I have no clue what you're talking about when you say Al Gore "invented" the Y2K bug. This was actually a REAL potential problem brought up by large companies, banks, server hosts, etc. that concerned possible glitches in coding when the date changed. With foresight they went back and fixed their systems and averted possible disaster. It was a real threat, and a logical one (even if the original coding was illogical, however mistakes happen).
