  • This is amazing. Google can provide 1 GB/S unlimited service with their network, but Comcast and AT&T have to cap their users at 250 GB of usage with 25 mbp/s connections? Google strikes me as the type of company thats trying to make the world better unlike traditional ISP's which are looking for ways to screw over consumers while not having to compete or innovate.

  • This was almost two years ago and it's still not installed.

  • I'm paying $95.00 for my Cablevision Ultra Internet package business line 101megabits Download/15 megabits Upload.... now 1GB that's GIGA BITS.... THAT'S INSANELY FAST. If google can offer this for a very reasonable price for every average american household. Say good bye to cablevision and satelites. Verizon will be the only competitor! GOOGLE GO FOR IT!

  • comcast and time warner are fucked

  • Hey Google...You spelled Gigabit wrong @ 0:13

  • @l0l0binaryl0l0 Honestly... who gives a shit?

  • 1 Fucking Gb ! and i am stuck with 1 Mb :(

  • @zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz9991 And I'm stuck with .6 mb :((

  • I'm pretty sure that guy is a G-robot and they wasn't gonna tell anyone.

  • Google has six letters......666. LOL!

  • @ManNeur That isn't funny at all... was it supposed to be a joke?

  • Dear Santa... I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!! Why cant YOU do stuff like this...

    Google > Santa

  • Visist Mexico, velocidad 2mb/s

  • Shut up and take my money!

  • 1 GB/s daaaamn and i was happy when i got my 6 mb/s...

  • Just wrote an email to my mayor... then realized Im over a year late

  • this guy has a weird american-english hybrid accent that is really annoying

  • I wish this could come to Seattle. Our monopolies are atrocious.

  • Who do i nominate my town I already have 101MPS down and I line in Bay Shore NY we allways get the fastest internet speeds here 1st not sure why i can now get if i pay $50 150Mps down pls have google test in this area. What is the link so i can apply to test this service?

  • Scumbag America:

    Design 151 MBs broadband networks

    Prosecutes and criminalize downloads.

  • Hi Google,

This sounds exciting - when are you starting and will I need to upgrade my site for it ?

Why are n't you doing it in Europe too ?

    James

  • Honestly, San Francisco should get this

  • I like if you experiment in my community in Springfield, MO we are the 3rd largest city in Missouri. Must needed faster network providers here I get 12mbps UP and 1mbps DOWN (Mediacom Cable) and pay around $70 here :( and when it rains its really horrible.

  • god damn eazy

  • It's time someone tackled this issue. Atlanta, Georgia needs those speeds. Traffic here is terrible, which makes working from home a must for me. Unfortunately, high speed internet access is very expensive for you get. Plus, you end up having to pay for other services, like TV and phone--even if you don't want them. Thanks, Google.

  • We need better internet in Canada... Please help us google :D

  • Bring it to Canada >:(

we are in da same boat together with the USA XD

  • I have fiber optic internet & it's amazing. If your area offers it, seriously, go for it, ten times faster than basic DSL & it doesn't use a phone line, plus it's cheaper than DSL, for me it's $20 cheaper per month.

  • @Anglynn74 WOW REALLY? YOU GOT A 1GB PER SEC AND ITS CHEAP?

  • @NathanIsDOWN I get about 15mbps down & 2mbps up for $39.99/mo. It's $20 cheaper than what I was paying for basic DSL, in different areas of the country the price m ay be different, but it's really super fast.

  • @Anglynn74 Oh, I was expecting 1GB per sec :(

  • I love the faces at 0:43.

  • A year and a half later and we still haven't heard if they plan to expand to major cities yet. ;_;

  • why did they hire an english guy to do a google ad? Comon google you're american!

  • @FreshZerglings They didn't hire him to do the ad he's been working for Google since 2008. Welcome to globalisation.

  • Kansas City should be in Wichita

  • I have a question. Can standard hdd's(which run on 99.9% of the worlds computers ) cope with such download speeds?

  • @Fastcarsupersports depends. Are you using an old school IDE or a SATA drive? If you've bought a laptop/computer within the past few years, then you most likely have a SATA drive, which would be able to handle this. And if you're rich enough to afford the new SSDs, then yes, it most certainly can handle this, lol. I honestly don't know about IDE drives. BUT, you also need a computer with a 1,000Mbps LAN port or router and 802.11n wireless card...otherwise you won't get the full speed.

  • @matrix86 IDE and SATA drives have almost identical speeds,no current hdd(excepting Raid arrays, scsi drives and 10000 rpm drives) can reach even the ATA 133 mbps speed.I know ssd are very, very fast(that's why I asked about hdd's).but at the same time ssd are very very expensive and relatively small (capacity) compared to nowadays hdd's.Oh,and about the networking part 802.11 n is not even fast enough to compete with ethernet lan,let alone gigabit.

  • We want fiber,We need fiber, why not!

  • This + Cloud = Laggles gaming in the highest quality on a chromebook

  • Hi, America.

Your Internet is still slow and expensive.

    -Northern&Eastern Europe

  • I would suck this guys dick for 1gig per sec interwebz!

  • @xSpArTiChRiSx nerd alert

  • I wonder when we'll get 1 gigaBYTE per second connections, optical fiber would be obsolete and the new connections will be made through warp technology (star trek) moving faster than light.

  • Naw I'll stick with 56k dial-up :D

  • ok um... unless ya has a decent hard disk ur not gonna be able to use this to it's potential

  • I want it xD

  • It's gigabits not gigabytes people. 1 gigabyte = 8 gigabits.

  • This would revolutionise gaming. P2P extra BW util for selected clients. Fucking awesome you'd get local guilds springing up.

  • I'd perform gay sexual acts for speeds this fast, and i'm straight. and yeah, it would be worth it.

  • @fire2box I'd do anything for it, too...

  • @fire2box Fu....

That's the first think i said to myself when i saw this...

  • omg! THAT 10x MORE THAN MY ETHERNET PORT CANALLOW! O_o

  • how sad... we(americans) go nuts about 1gb per sec... when in korea 1gb per sec is only an average speed of internet.. sigh..

  • Comment removed

  • @iWearGlassesLOL Seems that your IQ isn't any larger.

    40Gbps is FASTEST, not average.

The average speed around there goes around the orders of 100-1000Mbps.

    LRN2STUDY

The fastest speed in my country is 10Gbps, yet the average is 150Mbps.

  • @TheBetaFox

    I meant 40mbps sorry not gbps .....

  • @TheBetaFox

Ok after you said those numbers I did a bit more research. According to Akamai's State Of The Internet Report the average speed in S.Korea is 17mbps not 40 I was wrong, Romania has 7mbps, U.S has 4mbps.

Google "royal pingdom internet speed" and check it out for yourself.

  • @iWearGlassesLOL That's the averageish average, because even though 150Mbps is $17.5/monthly here, many people go for free 256Kbps or cheap 5Mbps, lowering the average speed.

The average speed in my city goes to hundreds of Mbps. In a large South Korean metropolis, the average speed for businesses would be 10Gbps, while the average speed for citizens would be around the orders of 500Mbps to a Gbps.

  • @moschoi You do understand that tiny little south korea is less than 1% the land mass of the USA....it doesnt excactly cost a hefty amount to have speeds up to 1gbps. Use your head.

  • @AzerothProduction You make it sound like america isn't bringing it's network speed because the land is too big and because it costs too much.. but you couldn't be farther from being right. It took verizon over 2 years to have entire NYC have access to their fios opitcal cable. and the entire NYC is a small portion compared to the entire land mass of South Korea.. not to mention that still many parts of the united states doesn't even have internet or still using 56k dial-up.

  • @AzerothProduction America isn't updating their network speed not because of money or time, but because they are too proud.. and unfortunately dumb.. took 2 years for just nyc to be covered? how lazy.. and the ignorance of "oh look 1gb is amazing" or "oh look a video call from your cell phone is amazing" when other parts of the world is looking at it and thinking "we've had that so for long.. what are they talking about?"

again.. it's not because of money or the land size.. it's more of pride

  • @AzerothProduction seems like you're the one who needs to use the head.. quit playing world of warcraft and watch the news a little bit.. and try to understand how this world is operating and how america is operating.

  • @AzerothProduction Okay.. after thinking it over, my last comment about stop playing WoW and using your head was uncalled for so I apologize.. And yes, you are partially corrected.. it would take lot more time and resources to have all of america upgraded to the internet speed that is offered in korea. but my point is, not all of america needs that speed.. i can think of just couple of major cities for example NYC, Chicago, LA, Dallas, and Miami.

  • @AzerothProduction And it's not like the technology is not unavailable right? and like i said, took verizon over 2 years to cover all of NYC with fios, but why are they upgrading to only fios? Fios being 25mb down and 10mb up average, korea was using over 1gb down average.. so why didn't they upgrade to that speed and technology? why 25mb down? when fios was first introduced, it was only available in couple of selected major cities as well. so why upgrade to tech that is still very old?

  • @AzerothProduction catch my drift?

  • @moschoi Yes I understand. I dont play world of warcraft....anymore, this is a old account. And my use your head comment was a bit out of line.

  • @moschoi umm... no. Average in South Korea its around 14mb (like 1 year ago) I think today is a little bit more. But no way near 1 gb... get your facts right. I'm not trying to make you feel bad but I say it cuz your giving wrong information to ppl

  • @wilx714 Okay, I apologize for the misleading info about 1gb. I looked around and it says that 60mb is the average speed now also 100mb is available and korea is receiving 1gb by 2012. So it's pretty safe to say 1gb now.. since highest internet speed that is offered to the consumers in america is around 35mb down by fios? There you go, got my facts right now.

  • @moschoi Nice. I'd like to apologize too. I sounded too harsh hehe. I got a little bit angry because in my country we're having problems with the internet. We´re paying A LOT for 1 mbps conection and they give a service of like 300kbps. So i read your comment and I though "ooh poor thing -.-" xD so yeah... I'm from Venezuela btw.

  • But... But most peoples harddrives isn't even that fast!

Neither are the servers that you are downloading from. Most of the time I can't even take full advantage of my 50mbps download speed.

  • 125MB /sec .. i dont think my hdd is that fast lol looks like an upgrade to a ssd will be happening

  • if I connect something like that to my computer, I'm afraid it will explode >.<

  • Very cool I'm going to be moving to a ranch soon. And my wife uses the internet to make a living. the only service we could find out at the ranch is threw Qwest at a top speed of 1 MB per second its going to suck were use to cable high speed. I don't understand we will have satellite T.V and if they can send fast data for HD T.V. why cant they send high speed internet threw satellites ? So why dont you try it out in Oracle AZ

  • Very cool I'm going to be moving to a ranch soon. • please for the love of god let this come to australia eventually.

  • kansas city ftw this is where i live w0000000tt sucks to suck everyone else!!!

  • Yeah, sounds great if they ever actually do it, It's been over a year!, with no announcement. This should not take over a year, just to decide where they will eventually build it. So, they decide in June, and that will mean it'll take until 2012-13 before anyone gets it.

I'm tired of these companies hyping stuff that doesn't materialize in a rational timeframe.

  • This shit is like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Who will get the Golden Ticket?

  • Google, you should seriously role out Fiber now that AT&T thinks it can get away with an internet cap. Please...

  • @impersonator280 So glad I found this video. Fuck. yes.

  • I hate my Qwest 1.5Mbps DSL something is super wrong with theretelephone lines and they wont do a damn thing about it. I get on average .10Mbps down and .30Mbps up :/ 896Kbps is what we are supposed to get up but they screwed that up last time they were out here now it wont go over 640Kbps up. download is super slow. I think there is water in there lines since they put the phone line in a swamp. Google please come to Eastern Oregon with FIBER!!!!! :D it's 2011 not 1996 DSL is old tech

  • i came on myself when he said 1 gig of speed while a tear fell from my eye

    come to dalton georgia!

  • i wish i had that speed i live in a town so the fastest isp there is is Verizon dsl and it sucks sooooo badly i want Google ultra high speed internet

  • My connection is only 1mbps LoL i always make the video 240p

  • damn i will always do youtube HD

  • what sort of applications would it open us up to?

  • Would Paint the House, Truck , Trailer, Dog, Yard, and change name to GOOGLE if they would run a line to this house. 512k speed is max around here.

  • When I had comcast 105 for a bit, it was amazing torrenting, downloading, and then palying CSS with awesome ping.

This will be just like okseflsdmfkldsmfs

Too bad I am probably not going to get it : /

COmcast rips your balls off for fast internet

  • 1gbps= gta iv in 12 seconds

    1gbps= cod 4 in 8 seconds

    1gbps= bfbc2 in 15 seconds

    FUCK.

  • if america wants to compete it needs better internet

  • Couldnt google make this work or other countries, like the uk... I live in serbia so theres no hope of me getting it... Sigh

  • ur first name is my middle name and ur last name is my last name

  • the best part is they can short you on your bandwidth and you still won't complain. i pay for 16mbit internet from comcast and i average around 2mbit because comcast sucks ass. If google offers you 1gbit and you get an 8th of that at 125mbit, that's still fast as fuck.

  • *buy

    typo

  • i'll start my own hosting company home with this...

by a refurbished server, load it up with space, sell each hosting plan for 1$ a month, AND get 1000 clients (at least) = 1000$ a month.

following year, i'll probably get 5 of those connections home, expand my servers and there u go, in 2 years, i'm gonna be a fucken millionaire...

end of the day... it's a connection that actually makes u money, lol

  • I want

  • 56k all the way!!!!

  • All I get is 3.0MB/s

  • I download with 11MB /sec

  • do it at at&t hq so they can see how slow their fucking internet is

  • Seattle/Bellevue/Redmond area please

  • well i submitterd my location but u i dont see it there so im unlucky i guess.

  • OK, where is the list that is being kept up-to-date with places involved? I would move for much larger data pipes. Seriously.

  • no more dial up porn XD!!!! im in!

  • anyone know how this worked out ?

Any update on googles isp taking off yet ?

  • Fibre is spelled... oh, haha, like I spelled it :D

  • @Libervurto Fibre is the spelling for the French origin of the word, fiber is for Germanic origin. Just like colour and color, favourite and favorite, both are right. One's just prettier. ...Gotta admit I prefer fibre. (And colour and favourite.)

  • He says "gigabit" but the subs say "gigabyte", is it a billion bits or a billion bytes?

  • It is SKYNET!!! D-8

    FLEE FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!!

    -

    jk, rofl

  • now the problem is the hard disk.. too slow, you have to buy an ssd if you want to take advantage of this service! Incredible

  • @hgytMN exactly.. !

  • with 1GBPS hard drives would be useless.

  • @hockey2333 but we have got a SSD, btw some ultra fast ssd can write more than 1 GBPS.

  • i think google will really shake things up. the phone companies and isp's here are just cheap ass wanting too much of your money with poor internet connection like 1 mbps= actually lesser than that.

  • Sign me up!!!

  • I will pay $200 for this.

  • /roar you guys have been making war with WMG...or do i have an illusion set in front of me by the obscurity of peer pressure? either way, /roar. /roar makes me awesome >.> oh, and ur teh best search engine ever.

  • Now that google's networth is nice and high, they should go for something like what teledesic tried, they should make internet available anywhere in the world at decent speeds like 100mbit/s for cheap. The increased liberalism in the world community would help google's future freedom loving following. Of course after they have been succcessful with this project.

  • I hope Google will be using OCDMA to do this! OCDMA rocks!!!

  • It's sound amazing. Go on google !

  • OMG! :D

  • 1gbps = BluRay movie in 2 minutes

  • @Odenkay Not 2 minutes, how about 10 seconds. A 2hour blu ray movie will fully download in 10 seconds

  • Comment removed

  • @ScootDesigns Naw^^, a average bluray is 20GB, 1gbs = 125MB /sec (8bits, so divide by 8)

    20.000 / 125 = 160 seconds. So a bit over 2 minutes.

  • @Odenkay + you have maby still copper cables at your home and maby in whole your city so you have to upgrade all cables to fiber. And your computer must have a fiber network card too.

  • @Odenkay 1gbs? wouldn't that be 20 seconds for a 20gb download? I am not sure, 1X20=20 is my math on this.

  • @mooman219 Transmission speed is measured in bits, whereas data size is in bytes. There are 8 bits to a byte, so 1 gigabit per second is 125 megabytes per second. When data overhead and line load are taken into account though, the speed is almost never truly that speed; probably would be closer to 100 to 110 megabytes per second.

  • @crazedgunmanvideo

100 to 110 megabytes per second. are you complaining? which internet company are you with right now?

  • @saneblane I'm not at liberty to say much. I can say the architecture of my current connection is similar in design to an OC-48, but for me to tell you more than that, you'd have to have a need to know.

  • @crazedgunmanvideo so you spend $12,000 on internet? or its the internet at your job, your just saying its your internet to make yourself look cool

  • @XmortdreadX As I said, its classified information. I cannot tell you.

  • @crazedgunmanvideo rofl, i never asked for the name, was just bored so i made a stupid comment

  • @XmortdreadX a OC-48 is way over 12 k a month try 60k if you have that much luck

  • @crazedgunmanvideo you don't own a OC-48 might want to take that trolling out of here

  • @Fastgt2003 I never said I own it. I stated I was connected from it. I lease access to it, and have a few dedicated systems on it.

  • @Odenkay its still fuckin fast, and for video games, we would probably get like 1ms world wide

  • @Odenkay Don't forget about your HDD write speed, CPU, and FSB speed. So it could be 7min :p

  • @Odenkay why do they call it a gbps when a gbps is 1,000 mbps?

  • @Odenkay why did you devide by 8 ??? 1gbs = 1gbs of download,,, so a movie of 20GB would take 20 seconds only!!

  • @VideoDocR 8 bits = 1 byte.

  • @VideoDocR because gbs = gigabits per second, gBs = gigabytes per second, 1 byte = 8 bits. so to get bits to bytes you divide to by 8 and to get bytes to bits you multiply by 8.

    Hope that helps

  • @VideoDocR its one gigaBIT so 1000 bits not a gigabyte which is 1000 Bytes

  • @Moose1207 a gigabit is 1000 megabits, which is in turn 1000 kilobits, which in turn is 1000 bits, a little different from bytes where its on an 8 scaling system, a gigabyte is 1024 megabytes.

  • @Odenkay lmao

  • @Odenkay It closer to 3 -.-

  • Comment removed

  • @Hardy123Zhao If you think that's the case take it up with the IETF and SI. Despite overseeing internet standards and units of measurement they are both under the obviously mistaken belief that 1 GB is 1000MB and 1Gbps (capital G for abbreviation of giga, stays capitalised whether talking about bits or bytes) is 125MB/s, They require your correction urgently.

  • @Odenkay less than that

  • @Odenkay Or a full length DVD quality movie in about 5 seconds.

Please, do this. It's going to be amazing. :)

  • Google is gonna change the world!

  • @Abaft6 google IS GONNA KILL US ALL..lol just kidding

  • I can't believe that I found about this few days ago. Well the deadline is over but I sent a request to our county CEO and I hope they response. Google's headquarter is in California so you guys should launch it in all areas of California, just saying but really Verizon Fios, only available in few areas, AT&T is a piece of crap, and cables are ridiculous. So google, COME ON!!! Show California some love!!! ( Especailly, Orange County in California ) :D

  • Not only fast...but safer too. ALL WiFi and that includes phones of course messes up your blood and does you no good at all. Fibre optics is the way to go. WiFi should be contained in ''bubble'' zones that people can avoid and this technology is possible!

  • Oh shit! This is bad... Real bad...

  • @edmanrapperu yep, this is actually very bad, google will get more control over you and your personality ... saad

  • @usoara Hey, about 96% of the population are already ''mind controlled''. They think that their decisions are their own!...will they care?...nah!...as you say...Very Sad!

  • shit 1gb per sec..thats fast as fuck

  • Please setup to CHARLOTTE, NC. We need to get away from greedy, thieving and corrupt time warner cable

  • @msiloveshoes I'm over here in Greensboro/Julian, but I still feel ya' XD

  • Been waiting for the extra-terrestrial ship to land. Instead it's google!!

  • Orgasm.

  • WTF 1 gig jesus thats fast utorrent will never be the same again downloading large torrents in mins not weeks

  • @littleohah

xD download games in mins ftw

  • @zenokro lol yes can just image my 40 gig per month allowance would be gone in 40 secs lol thats no good

  • Omg Google is taking over the world!

  • @lee155912000 lol!

  • 1GB PER SECOND!!!! yep i jizzed....
