  • Great tune, fabulous arrangement and superb musicianship!

  • Great music! It's change my attitude of mind. I'm also in seventh heaven

    Greetings from Poland

  • By the time Bix recorded his last sides (with Hoagy Carmichael's "all-star" band in September 1930), 'alontas', his performances HAD deteriorated to the point where he used a mute for his solos. His fondness for illegal alcohol robbed him of his ability to play without one, and it finally killed him in August 1931.

  • It is a pity that Bix, having that beautiful natural cornet sound, had to employ mutes in some recordings. I have heard that some of his last recordings, made with Hoagy Carmichael & other Jazzmen, he played muted cornet because his sound had deteriorated (don't know other word in English to say this better). ¿Would that be true?

  • Great Bill Challis arrangement, and an inspired solo by Bix at :49 (with Andy Secrest close by).

The song is from one of Al Jolson's early Warner Bros. "Vitaphone Talkies" ("co-written" by him with DeSylva, Brown & Henderson), whose verse at 1:34, before "The Rhythm Boys" sing the chorus:

Feel the way my heart keeps thumpin',

Notice how my two eyes shine,

See the way my feet keep jumpin',

Jumpin' with joy, I'm some lucky boy...
