Please live in the real world: They were evicted by legal means. The landowner OWNS the property so has the right to do with it as he sees fit.

Having said that, I think that the tenants (farmers) and landlord (he should have been flexible in this regard) should have made arrangements to harvest the rest of the crops and sell them/give them away rather than wasting perfectly good produce.
