I have a 24" 2008 imac and will wait for 1 more year before I buy the new quadcore i7 led imac to see how any upgrades pan out for it.this is a powerful imac and the led display puts it in between a consumer mac and the pro models, great video btw.
I have a 2,66 C2D / nvidia 8800GT PC which cost me 900 dollars 2 years ago. I will wait till the quad core iMac becomes cheaper. Or maybe the new Mac Pro will blow my mind.
The Mac Pro supports more than 32, that's just what they offer. It's capable of 128 from what I'm told, but the DIMMS are very expensive so it's not really economical to do right now with current prices.
FireWire is a connection like USB, but it's faster but not as widely used. It's used more heavily in professional industries like videography and so on, where you need to write to the system drive in real time, so you need a fast connection for it. USB just isn't fast enough for real time writing for those kind of tasks.
what's the point of getting the quad core? does it make it faster? I don't understood because the cheaper version (dual core) has more ghz then the quad. :)
No it is not. You don't multiply the frequency to the core number, it depends on the application you use. If you use 2 applications that take 1.5 Ghz, then the dual core is better, if you use one application that takes 3-4 Ghz with 1.6 Ghz dual core, well it is not as fast. Still, i'd like a 4 Ghz 8 core :).
Hey, think you've already been helped, but if you wan't an easy (a bit false but still) comparison, you have 2 x 3Ghz = 6 or 4 x 2.5Ghz = 10, now it is a bit more complicated than that, but Quad-core is just waaaay faster than the "so 2006" dual-core :) don't try to understand, Hardware is crappy :p
ok so I cant ask again, is there only one limit per person to ask a question about something. I want puliple opnions is that ok. anyways thanks for the answer. :) P.S. sorry I was a douche.
That 27" is a beast wish I held out a little longer and waited to a refurbished one of these, but no point in me moaning though because I am loving my 20" and it does everything I need, but still woulda been nice to have a 27" lol
If you got the 20" less than a month or so before these came out then Apple sometimes let you replace them for the newer equivilent model. Not always, but sometimes. It's worth asking at least, the worst that can happen is they say no. That's assuming you got it from Apple and not some other retailer, they'll have their own replacement policies in that case. Check it out, if they say yes you're laughing.
Man, I fighting with my self over this new imac! My 24" is 4 months old! Help me, please! Why does a grown man have to have the newest toys? Married for over 25 years, no kids, lol! I think I should do it? Wife might not notice? Danger is my middle name, lol!
LOL! I'll run that by her and see if I get the guest room tonight, lol! I don't think she would notice the different in the two computers. This is in my home office. She likes to use the pc downstairs. Just thinking........
No it isn't. It's a whole new Operating System. I'd say Snow Leopard is a just a tweaked version of Leopard. But Snow Leopard blows Win7 out of the water.
dave has already made videos on the serious issues with snow leopard, but he hasnt made any videos on problems with windows 7. I wonder why? Dave likes macs but tells the truth, unlike you. windows 7 is the best operating system ever produced
instead of blowing smoke, try proving something. I said dave has made videos showing snow leopards major problems yet has not said one bad word about windows 7. that is fact.
now prove your theory that windows 7 is bad, give one real example . maybe your 4 subscribers can help you find some info saying windows 7 is bad?
and unlike you, a mactard wannabe, I typed this on a macbook pro
Well Win7 hasn't been released yet. Snow Leopard can. Meaning he can make a video of it's flaws because it isn't in Beta. Win7 is. So someone cannot say it is best or worse than a certain Operating system. I am aswell typing this on a MacBook Pro.
He hasn't used Winwodws 7 as much as his Mac, so of course he's going to notice if there's something wrong with this Mac. Windows 7 is most deffinately NOT the "best operating system ever produced". It's the "best operating system ever produced" BY MICROSOFT, and here's the difference. As far as Windows goes, 7 is great, they really pulled their finger out finally, but it's still not quite there compared to OS X, both technically and the way you interact with them (latter being subjective).
Says who? Look at all those windows pc's behind him, why do you assume he doesnt use them? your talking out of your ass. dave readily admits osx has MAJOR flaws
7 isn't a whole new OS, it's a polished Vista (as in the core of it). Snow Leopard had some pretty massive rewrites of major system API's and applications and comes with many new API's for improving performance that 3rd party developers can take advantage of to boost their applications capabilities and speed. They did a lot of tweaking too, but in terms of the changes made Snow Leopard had more done than 7. Vista just had lots of flab from over eating, 7 trimmed the fat and went to the gym.
But not a lot changed in Snow Leopard. Atleast nothing that I've noticed (except the 6GB of more memory!!) but I only record music, internet browsing, and talking to friends. So I wouldn't notice all the changes they made. But from the Win7 I have running in VMware Fusion it seems a lot different than Vista. But that's just one idiots opinion haha.
27 inches seems a little too big, I think they should have kept the 24 inch model (23.5 in 16:9) I also beleive there should have always been a video in option

hey, give your wife a choice, either you turn in your mac for a newer model, or you turn her in for a newer model, lol.
