This was fascinating to watch the weaving process. It is nice to see them carry on tradition like this. That boy is very good at weaving. I like the indian music in the background along with the narration. It really set the mood of the video.
Its great to see how they are keeping their traditions alive and passing it on to their youth. In today’s age, many people choose to forget their heritage in favor of the American way of life, which has no traditions other then spending money.
I like this Navajo Weaving, its important to continue on traditions, and it is not for anyone to say who or how it began except that is what is taught.
I liked the video. At homes we have dozens of these Navajo woven rugs, my mother really loves them. Maybe improve on the volume of the interview next time though.
I also really liked the close up shots that showed us the unique details of making rugs, and the textures, colors, and the challenges of threading through al of the vertical ropes. The drum was a nice sonic touch too.
I liked hearing about the history of rug weaving by the boy's mother while I watched him make his stripes. The sound of the instrument he used to push down the yarn is very interesting, and I would guess only heard in relation to this process. So, that makes it very special. It would be very cool to track the boy down, as you said, to see how his rug making has matured. I liked how you captured his intense focus as he worked. Very nice.
I work with a Navajo who is teaching her daughter how to weave. She told me the other day that she put off teaching her daughter until her daughter came to her and asked to teach her. I thought that was approprate beause youcan't force the next generation to learn a craft if they don't want too. Good Video
Nice, i havent seen any child weave and this is my first time seeing. Great way to be involved with your kids while teaching them about your heritage. kool.
I liked the video I think it is great to learn and teach the youth to keep this tradition alive. This was a simple video but its a great one! Good job!
I love the art of weaving and how it is used among cultures. Weaving can be simple such as I weaved in elementary but when people become skilled at this art its amazing to find how complex each thread supports the other to make a design or create a texture
It's unusual for men to learn that's why this was such a neat little documentary. I hope to do a new version with better audio. I'd love to interview him again too if I can track him down again.

Very nice! Weaving seems like such a beautiful tradition, but also something that would be a really relaxing hobby.

Something that has been around for so long and is taught down through family is a very powerful thing to have in your culture

I believe in traditions and they should be passed on to our children so they can teach their children so that tradition will not be lost.

My brother is a male Navajo weaver.
He started when he was 9.
Now hes 16 years old creating amazing designs and patterns!
My grandmother and aunts are stilling helping him.
Being a male Navajo weaver is nothing to be ashamed of! :)
Keep it up!
