  • She's got my vote! I don't purely vote on gay issues anyway, and you could point to horrendous connections inside almost any party in the UK. But, she has a brilliant record on women's rights, the leadership of the anti-war movement has been exemplary and it's about time there was someone that stood up against big business.

Interestingly she's the only candidate (including the Greens) that isn't calling for thousands more police, rather bus conductors, caretakers and such like.

  • I should add, for all of the mistakes he has made, Galloway has never been homophobic or apologetic for homophobia in seeking votes...

  • I would trust Lindsey if she weren't a part of Galloway's RESPECT Party.

She has no right speaking about LGBT rights if before she was siding with hardline Muslims and a party whose activists were writing against homosexuality.

  • No one in the Left List excuses homophobia. What they say is that it's better to stand with oppressed people on common ground then to never take sides with anyone who doesn't share all of your political views. During the Vietnam war, people gay and straight defended the Vietnamese who were being slaughtered. They didn't stop to question their position on homosexuality. Sometimes there is an urgency in times of war/increased racism when you have to defend people and in doing so, challenge ideas.

  • I am not speaking about the Left List, I am speaking about RESPECT, who she was previously a member of.

Anybody who has done any real research on RESPECT, plus Galloway's recent denial about the way Iran treats homosexuals would know that RESPECT will happily walk over LGBT people to please a few right wing Muslim donors.

Coming from that background, in my view, does not make a candidate worthy of trust from the queer community.

  • Actually, it's that very difference that has led to the shift from Respect to the Left List. The Left List has nothing to do with Galloway- who made many mistakes in the process of simply chasing votes. This was a fundamental difference between supporters of what is now the Left List and Galloway and has led to a parting of ways.

The Left List has two openly gay candidates standing in these elections and Lindsey is by far the best person to stand up for LGBT people and all Londoners alike.

  • I should add, for all of the mistakes he has made, Galloway has never been homophobic or apologetic for homophobia in seeking votes...

  • I disagree on German being the best for LGBT. In my view, Green is pink.

Secondly, you should search some of the videos where Galloway discusses Medhi Kazemi(spl?) and his allegations on how Iran treats homosexuals. If you'd like to see some writing by a RESPECT activist, I think it was Adam Yosef (I can revise the name if you like).

  • You are very right as to why RESPECT split, but the worrying alliance with right wing Muslims in the first place (and I do mean only the right wing Muslims, as many Muslims, including friends of mine do not have issues with LGBT folk) and yes, Left List has nothing to do with Galloway... Again, that is not what I am saying.

Lindsey German knew who she was teaming up with WHEN SHE WAS WITH RESPECT and I think that you need to look at somebody's past too... That is why I do not trust her.
