  • was it hard to assemble the upgrade?

  • Is AEM cold air intake for the cobalt ss/sc louder then the Injen cold air intake for the ss/sc?

  • idk which one is louder but my boy has the injen and it sounds awesome.

  • sounds badazz

  • mines louder, and prob faster....but great sound bro

  • Well if you are using other aftermarket kits that are not GMPP, then yeah ur probably faster. Personally, I didn't want to do this b/c i got my kit when my car had 3K on it and didnt want to blow the warantee. I have GMPP exhaust, stg 2, ingalls torque brace, hurst short throw, aem CAI, GMPP header. I'm running a 13.5 in the quarter. You really cant get much faster than that with a FWD

  • they would prob run neck and neck if you're in the mid 13's

  • Can't go faster than 13.5 with FWD? LOL Go look up 9 second GTP. Nice sound btw.

  • Yeah if there's a way to get lower than that with this car, then clearly I have some more homework to do. The problem is not with adding more power (that can be done easily), it's with getting it to connect to the ground.

  • Very true, I bet you see alot of wheel spin.

  • @mdb25 its called trifecta tune, a guy i know does it, 100 bucks 100 horsepower ;) n get a g force perdormance chip, ul get up to 60 hp, n extra 95 km to a tank

    thats dam good!

  • that supercharger sounds badass

  • nice car

i plan to get me one of thos very soon

  • its not how fast u go its how fast u get there bud

  • sounds like my drill...

  • man are those hard to install, i want mine to sound like that, how much are those?!?!?

  • ok i got my stage 2 put on today and the aem the same set up as you i was j/w well i was drive and i shift in second gear i was at 7.000 rpm and it didnt want to grab has this happing to u or maybe i went igher then that but i dont kno

  • heres ur issue..our cobalts clutch is designed that if u were tacking out first gear but all u were doing was spinning then the car isnt going very fast so when u shift to second and try to give it hell the car isnt moving fast enought so it slips out the clutch. try taking off and switching to second around 4500 rpms.

  • Sounds pretty good.

Not quite as loud as my K&N though (but that could be the video)

You should check out my header/intake video to compare.

  • sounds wonderful!

  • hey man who installed you aem did u do it or you pay someone for it and when u got it installed did a check light come on or not thanx man

  • hahaha okkay with factory internals a ecotec 2.0 can push more than 350 being supercharged. Gm has enginered with the help of lotus an engine to put in the Ariel Atom that will exceed all other 4 cylinders and what you call 800 rediculous horsepower

  • if u have any more power its hard to keep on the road with fwd... mine does 0-60 in 6 sec... not bad

  • Yeah there is definitely a problem with keeping it on the road when ur pushing 250 hp. Best suggestion.... get some bad ass tires. I just put on Bridgestone Potenza S03s pole position. They're 225/45-18, which is acceptable. The car handles 1000x better and rides way smoother than with those crap pirellis

  • Where did u get your stage 2 from and how much was it cause all these sites and stores have different prices?

  • Got it directly from GM dealer. It cost $750 plus installation (about 1.5 hr labor). About $900 total once it was installed. Installation must be done via certified GM dealer as they have to get code from GM for the computer. I had mine installed a year and a half ago tho. Not sure about current prices

  • Cool car, but it sounds like an R\C car...

  • supercharge bro,

  • its called a supercharger, look into it-jerk!

  • Why are you offended by then? Wow...

  • lol yea ok they arnt fast stock. Wow are your eyes painted on man. Unless your talking about the cobalt ls not the ss. The ecotec with a supercharger can produce well over 800 hp no joke.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA show me a cobalt ss/sc with the same 2.0 L ecotec producing 800 whp and i STILL wont believe you!

  • ok, now lets get something straight. i have yet to see ANY 4 cylinder that produces 800 hp. supercharger or not your wrong. a professional race team could push tops 500-550 hp outta this thing. 800 is ridiculous.

  • Actually they push out 1400Hp on a FWD drag car. and GM sells a 300HP kit for the cobalt...

  • So many ppl just don't realize the heritage and history btwn the car and driver that is involved with so many domestic vehicles here in the states. I believe the greatest reason I got my SS is because I grew up around Chevy and I've seen it's advantages (and disadvantages!) I'm so glad Chevy got on board with the import market. That stage 2 sounds o, so tempting.

  • I am falling in love with that wining sound of SC. Nice!

  • ha ha well all cars suck. and i like it!!

  • sounds like someone making that annoying waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa sound... nice car tho

  • That acceleration looks so badass. I wish GM would produce a badass rear wheel drive car supercharged like that. I know the Sky and solstice are pretty quick roadsters, but I'm thinking more of a coupe with that supercharger instead of turbo. Oh how nice it would be.

  • ha i just ordered a 07 cobalt ss supercharged this past friday ( 9/21/07 ) and i ordered all the performance parts i could from gm cant wait to break her in only draw back is that its going to cost me 27 grand but its worth it to have a factory race car without having to put money into it

  • Yeah I'm probably gettin a Cobalt SS SC next year als. Cant wait either. My bro is gonna give me so much shit though, he's got a 99 'maro SS Hurst 6-Speed...bastard...haha

  • I love a Cobalt Super Sport Super Charge, I'm getting one next year. Well I now know who to go if I want an upgrade lol.

  • 07 is the last year of the ss/sc, so if you want one it'll be used or something. 2008.5 cobalt ss turbo will be coming out though.

  • Well thanks for the heads up.

  • and gm is making a stage 2 kit that has 290hp and 310tq

  • Thats Sexy = )

  • american muscle!!!

  • nice vid =D, cute whine lol.

  • my cusin's ss dynoed at 235 stock, the he put in stage 2 and a new down pipe, and now hes got stage 3 its a fucking fast car

  • that's lie considering they put down 205hp at the crank stock

  • bro ur an idiot my ss puts out 235 like the other guy says look at sum forums everyone says gm lied about the horse power

  • no they don't. keep magazine racing in your fantasy world lol

  • The Cobalt SS is a cool car. I'm interesting in getting it to Europa butt i will cost more then 22-25000... probably around 70000++.

A supercharger is cool but it would be cool if gm cold give it the new turbo from the Saturn sky. (260hp)

  • Yeah the turbo would be cool. There is a lot of speculation out there as to whether it will find it's way into the cobalt, but as of right now, the official word is that the SS S/C is cancelled for 08 and the best u can get will be a cobalt sport with the 2.4 L.

  • eii i have a questions..can u put a blow off valve in a supercharged..? sorry for mi ignorancee

  • Nope...only on a centrifugal supercharger. These cars have roots.

  • stage 2 cobalt's are just sick how musch hp did u gain whit the stage 2?

  • Stage 2 gives an extra 36 hp according to gm. Most guys are dyno well above this though

  • that thing pulls strong i wonder how much would it cost for stage 2

  • stage one and two upgrade has a MSRP of $750. it boosts power to 241hp and 218Lb-ft. plus what you get from the cold air intake. im guessing about 8-10hp

  • yup thats pretty much wut i have on mine it cost me 800 though.........good add up notice big diffrence on performance..

  • Damnit...I can't get my supercharger to whine like that at idle...(I have stock though...if that makes a difference)

  • if u cant buy the stg2, then grab an intake. that will bring it out a lot

  • I'm gettin' the stage 2 Tuesday...So that's what makes it whine like that at idle...Kick ass

  • ya i was wondering what your 0-60 time is with the stage 2 kit?

  • I have yet to get it on a track. Really busy with school, so havent had the time. Plus i was waiting for some new tires b/c my stock pirellis are toast. From what I've seen with other people running with just stage 2, they are hitting the 1/4 anywhere from 13.5 - 13.8 @ 105mph. I have no doubt that it's mid 13's as the stock runs 14.1. The stg2 adds such an explosive amount of power. It's really like a different car. My opinon..... get it and just pound on everyone lol. I do.

  • I have never seen a SS run a 14.1 quarter stock....

  • my mistake, it's 14.4 as per motor trend. I do still stick by the mid 13's times for the stg2 tho.

  • Neither have I, they aren't that fast stock. Of course, as with any new car, the owners will make the car much faster than the "mag racers" will be able too because they've spent more time with it and know how to launch it. Just like the Eclipse GT seems slow with a mid-high 14 in the mag's but alot are starting to hit high 13's stock (except tires).

Decent car for a decent price, it's a nice little pocket rocket but nothing to be scared of on the streets.

  • this might give u power but i didnt see any diff in the sound

  • really hard to hear the sound difference from this video, but trust me, the intake makes it scream much louder. You also get this unique growl at low rpms.

  • how much did it cost u for stage 2? i was gonna get a cobalt but got a SI instead :) but nice car!

  • LOL, this is getting to be a very common question. When the kit first came out, I purchased it from GM for $750. That was over a year ago. Now, the price has come down to $560. I got a quote for 1.5 hrs labor, which is what GM says. So now it should cost around $700 total purchased and installed. Pretty good investment for 45 ponies more.

  • u should have saved for stage 3 ;)) or u have to try all of them? do u have any mechanical problems ?

  • Yeah im not sure what the deal is with the stage 3, but it's not offered by GM and therefore fucks ur warranty. Stage 2 is from GM and it was the best out there at the time when i got my kit. No mechanical problems whatsoever yet and my car has 18.5 K miles on it. Had the kit put on at 7K and i drive aggressivley everyday. Car is totally sound. This car is nothing like the GM of the past and proves that they have done a damn good job of narrowing the quality gap on the jap cars.

  • I heard it can take handle the supercharged pretty good without fucking anything up..thumbs up 4 GM ;) but they r still behind if u ask me and not just GM but ford 2. I watched it on TV how they build toyotas... when there is a problem they stop the whole assembly line fix the problem and continue.. US dont do that thats were the defects and other mechanical problems come in.. its disapointing but u know some day that might change ;)

  • Actually, GM and Ford now hault the assembly line now as well when a problem is flagged. They just started doing that as of a couple years ago. Also, I really dont see how toyota is such a pilar of quality as last year alone, they recalled more vehicles than they sold! Quite embarrasing. JD power and consumer reports have also picked up on this and have stated that GM has fewer problems per 100 vehicles than toyota, nissan or any german automaker.

  • The stock internals on the SS can handle up to 400hp according to GM. The ecotec motor that powers the SS is truly a masterpiece. It has won several awards and has set the national record for elapsed time as well as the record for top speed in the NOPI pro compact category. I really do trust this motor for reliability. Furthermore, there isnt another car out there for 21K that can touch the stock SS, let alone even come close to one with Stage2.

  • i totally agree man. i've been looking for a new car for quite a few months now and the cobalt ss supercharged has always been at the top of my list. i've tossed around getting a scion tc, 04 mach 1 mustang, and a few others but the cobalt has speed, looks, warranty, and its cheap. i'm looking at a vw GTI too, and the overall interior is better i think, but the cheapest new GTI that i would actually buy is like 27K compared to the fully loaded cobalt for 24K.

  • A fully loaded SS supercharged with the recaro package and limited slip will have a sticker of about 22K I believe. That is the ultimate top of the line cobalt and if you want my opinion, I'm really regretting that I didn't get the recaro. It's a $1500 option, but well worth it for the limited slip. Only bad part about it is that they dont come with color-coded inserts on the seats and door panel.

  • That doesn't apply to 07's. I have LSD without the Recaro seats.

  • i hear the diff. i have a stock cobalt ss and your car SCREAMS alot louder then stock

  • i have a stage 1 with a up graded pulley and upgraded intake i dont remember the name of the brand off the top of my head and a magnaflow exhaust with a 3 incj catback and im still need to put new heads and a viper chip...i killed a 04 mustang gt...

  • hey i gotta a 06 i wanna stage two and i also already got the aem on it. my qurstion is with stage two where can you tell the biggest diffenrences and what do u run in the 1/4

  • Stg 2 gives the SS an explosive amount of power at both low, mid and high rpms. It's really hard to say that it's any better at low or high rpms, but having redline increased to 7K is definitely beneficial. I still have not timed mine on a track, but there is no doubt that with the Stg 2 that this is a mid 13's car, if not low 13's. You will be able to bitch rape any stock honda, acura or toyota on the road. Yes even the TL-S is no match. Good luck man.

  • sweet car

    buy me one?

  • i flipped my 05 ss/sc in a snowstorm this year but damn those sounds make some memories come back.

by removing the hose clamp from the air intake in the engine bay and sliding it to the side you can enjoy these sounds but it's very dangerous for engine life (no air filter, air mixture sensor) solely a sound-trick.

good shit onthe stage II though bud.

  • i like the idea of a turbo but the winding noise of a supercharger gives me a hard on

  • sounds like one of those cars you wind up by pulling it backward.

  • sounds like one sweet ass super charger 2 me

  • Nice ride, Im planning on purchasing an 07 ss/sc after basics here in a few months, Im hoping to be able to order it from the factory with the stage 2 along with the stainless exhaust and all the other goodies. How much is the stage 2?

  • Cost of stage 2 from GM dealer is $750. Labor is 1 1/2 hr as stated by GM. Be sure you get a quote on the labor before you bring it in.

  • thanks alot man i appreciate it

  • you can run a stage 3 kit with 93 octane. Stage 3 takes horsepower output to 248 on 93 octane fuel and to 260 horsepower on 100 octane fuel.

  • The Stage-3 Kit can be purchased at "Crate Engine Depot." Only thing is, you have to run it with 100 octane (racing) fuel.

  • you dont have to run 100 octane, it has a 100 octane optional tune in PCM software, you can run 93 octane normally, best feature of stage3 is the tune for a 50shot and 8k rpm redline

  • So yeah, pretty much the first thing I get for my SS/SC is a CAI. Then stage 2. Or maybe it'll be the other way around. I don't know, either way I go, I'm going to have fun!

  • Both are great add ons, but stage 2 is the single best investment you can make for a monster power gain.

  • cute toy

  • Npw that is a badass SS. I am thinking about getting stage 2 on mine. And from the looks of this vid it is worth it. How much was it? And what does it run in 1/4 mile, you know?

  • well worth every penny. cost to buy is 750 plus tax when u get it straight from a GM dealer. 1/4 mile reports vary and i havent tested mine yet. What i can tell you is that the improvement is DRAMATIC AND VERY NOTICEABLE. It's like a completely different car. Once you get a cold air on it, it makes the sound even sweeter. Do this before anything else b/c this is the best upgrade in terms of sound and power. Cold air makes it sound even sweeter though.

  • Cool deal, I'll have to save up for it. =P Also, I have seen ppl say that their SS has stage 3. Uhmm, I have yet to see stage 3 for it but if there is, wow. I could only imagine. Stage 2 would be more than enough for me though. haha. And thanks for answering my questions.

  • Yeah i've heard of a stage 3 as well. To the best of my knowledge its all the stage 2 upgrades plus a body kit and exhaust, so you really wont gain a lot of power from it. If you are looking for speed, then stage 2 is what u want.

  • stage3 doesnt include body enhancements, it includes 2.9" pulley, Stg3 PCM, dual pass end-plate

  • when that initial comment of mine was made, stg3 wasn't even out yet, so it was based on word of mouth.
