@antifreetrader lol i live with my parents because i am going to uni soon............ the fact is that manufacturing jobs are moving out of the medcs and into nics and ledcs because they can produce them more efficently. Plus they can buy the latest equipment from us and so not have to inivate as much. As the gnp per capita rises they will experience what we have experience a shift from manufacturing jobs to service jobs.

@antifreetrader Alot of People are in it for themselves in my opinion. Trade unions are in it for themselves and so are big companies. However i would argue that this doesn't mean every action is selfish. A trade union in my opinion is good up until it gets militant like British rail. The service sector has developed because we have handed factory work to china and gone for the high end goods like banking or tax advising which they cant do.

@antifreetrader Unfortunatly as we get more efficient in factory we work we loose jobs. The service sector grows in the most developed countries up until we reach a point were we manufacture very few goods. Sadly services don't have much of a physical presence so people pick up the wrong end of the stick and people think the economy is going down the toilet. Look at Britain everyone thinks we produce little and yet we are the 7th biggest trade giant.

The uk has lost its industry in some respects as it has evolved and our people don't want to work in factories so our service sector has grown. The emerging economies made it impossible for us to compete on cheap mass produced goods. However i would argue that this doesn't mean every action is selfish. A trade union in my opinion is good up until it gets militant like British rail. The service sector has developed because we have handed factory work to china and gone for the high end goods like banking or tax advising which they cant do.

The service sector grows in the most developed countries up until we reach a point were we manufacture very few goods. Sadly services don't have much of a physical presence so people pick up the wrong end of the stick and people think the economy is going down the toilet. Look at Britain everyone thinks we produce little and yet we are the 7th biggest trade giant.

Can those of us Irish who express ethnic pride on a day that honors a non-Irishman ("st. patrick") also do so on an occasion such as the anniversary of the 1916 Rising (Apr. 24-30), which is actually relevant to our ancestors & our history, & recognizes an undertaking that eventually led to some collective victory for our People?

Kirwan has stated in at least one interview that his own grandfather was a personal acquaintance of one of the strategic planners of the 1916 Rising, Sean MacDiarmada (identified in the Black 47 song by one of the spellings of his family name at birth, McDermott), lending even more credibility to the song.
