  • The sound on all his early records was amazing

  • I'm 61 and was 10 years old when Gary was in. I have seven sisters and 3 brothers. It was always a great dance party at my house when ever my mother and father went to work or to the store. The radio came on and the whole house would be twisting, shouting, hullygulling, monkeying, mashing petatoes, to all kinds of great music and singers. There was no singer in those days that sounded the same. they tried to make Fabian a super star like Elvas but we kids wasn't buying.

  • Impossible to sit still when you hear this classic!

  • Covered by the New York Dolls...

  • what a great video. CARL

  • The Jive Five NEVER sang background for Bonds-- just dancing here-- very bizarre to say the least.

  • Now i can see: poindexter is the crux of this buster

  • This clip is from a British film ("It's Trad Dad"...released in the USA as "Ring-A-Ding-Rhythm" in 1962). The film was a showcase for Brit pop star Helen Shapiro and largely concerned the then-British craze for "Trad" Jazz (American Dixieland-style Jazz). To broaden the fim's appeal to youth, American pop stars like Gary Bonds, Del Shannon, Gene McDaniels and Gene Vincent were also featured in lip-synched performances.

  • The guys in the back ground are the Jive Five. They were in NYC- Bonds in England. Very strange because according to Gene Pitt, lead singer, they were NOT on the the Legrand recording.

  • @doctordoowop Did the Jive Five sing backup regularly with Gary Bonds. When their single, My True Story, hit it big n L.A., I went out and bought the 45. Wow, I was blown away.
