the earth's limb acts like a rim of a convex lens. It refracts sunlight called lensing effect. (refer- eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/LEcat5/a­ppearance.html)

the refracted red-orange light passes through the umbra and eclipsed moon appears like red hot iron.

Because of maximum absorption (or scattering) of colors like green, blue etc through atmosphere, their presence is negligible within umbra.

Corrections- dont diverge blue color, show only red & orange colors

And let's just say that NASA should be required to do scientific research on the signs of witchcraft, so that the society would be able to protect itself from the threat of witches better. So from now on, every time NASA sees a red moon coming, it will name the appropriate young female suspects, who seem to have done it.
