  • I miss Marty - he was one of a kind. This is one of my favorite songs of his. Thanks.

  • His voice was silenced 29 years ago today. R.I.P. Marty!

  • Hes just amazing. Thanks for sharing your videos of him.We wish we could get them here in New Zealand.

  • Love Marty`s Songs...........:)

  • Excellent!! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video!! I've always loved Marty! Never heard him sing a song that I didn't like!--Lee

  • Marty has been gone for almost 30 years and still has more talent than any cookie-cutter puppet in Nashville today. A great classic song from a true legend who is sadly forgotten today by anyone under the age of 50. I'm 34...

  • Thanks for your comment Marcus. I've listened to a lot of other country singers in my time, but I always come back to the master....Marty Robbins. To me he stands above all others simply not only because of his incredible versatility, but the beauty of the voice. I never did find out the name of the Spanish/Mexican tune he played on his TV show 'The Drifter.'

  • @tarquin45 Without a doubt my favorite favorite singer. I have all his songs on lp's and they still play despite the many hours of enjoyment they have given me.

  • Marty, I have been so fickle! I have spent a great deal of time listening to a large bunch of other country singers, including Waylon, Johnny and George. How could I have so neglected you of late? Impressed, anew, fantastic!! Thanks for all MR uploads, Marcus :-))

  • Thank you for this video as it is almost my favorite Marty song.

  • A #1 hit for the late Marty Robbins on the Country & Western charts. It was the 71st #1 C&W hit in the Rock Era.

  • THIS is country and REAL SINGER! Todays "cOuNtRy" SUCKS!

You wont hear THIS stuff on the radio today :(

  • I heard this on the radio and have watched this video at least 10 times. By far one of the Greatest voices I have ever heard and the emotion he sings with is amazing. Thanks for posting this!!

  • cant listen without crying

  • ♥♥ Marty Robbins ♥♥

Again a lovely song from Marty.

That number can I hear over and over again.

    That is just so...

    "Amazing"

  • Tarquin

I have never joined or subscribed to any site before but I had to thank you for the wonderful posts which led me to rediscover Marty. I am a Scottish exile in Thailand and loved Marty as a young man but lost my entire record collection due to moving around the world.

He is even better second time around and I had only heard his music before but never saw him perform so the videos are a revelation.

Keep up the great work and many thanks for sharing - he is absolutely fantastic.

  • @dornanjx

Thanks for your kind comments sir. It fills me with pride to know that Marty's music is still loved all around the world. I actually regard it as a privilege to have put so many videos on of a man who quite simply has always been my hero.

  • @tarquin45

One of the tracks which I lost was a great favourite and I have tried everywhere to find it but no luck to date. It was on an Album I bought during the early 70's. Nine Tenths of the Law.

Marty's voice really resonated on this one and I would love to hear it again.

  • WHAT A VOICE

  • a country artist that could really sing great tone and range

  • The first time I heard this song is when Chris Young sang it.He did a wonderful job, but Marty Robbins also has a beautiful, smooth voice.

  • He was the best, there is no one like him today and I'm sure there will never be.

  • i agree

  • That voice of Marty's is unsurpassed by anyone.

  • I think you've done hit the nail right on the head with that comment dmeadows555.

It mystifies me that he just doesn't get the credit his undoubted greatness deserves.

  • @dmeadows555 They don't come any better WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Most of the heywho's singing today only wish they had what he had.

  • My Lord, What a VOICE!! Smooth as a wet butter bean! :)

Marty had more Soul than a ten foot tennis shoe!!!!

  • Marty Robbins was the best balladeer ever. I've been listening to singers for half a century, and I've never heard a better voice than his. I could listen to him for hours on end, and never grow tired of it.

  • I also think his songwriting skill took some beating as well. The range of the songs that he composed were akin to the versatility he showed at the microphone.

  • Marty nice song I like the Hawaiian influence jumping up to that falcetto it is nice to see how he combined the two musical skills effortlessly to come up with Marty's style of music. Marty u da man!!!!!!!!

  • In all of country music, pop music you can't find or hear a more natural beautiful voice then Marty. This song in particular, His tone quality and range and effortlessness is uncomparable. Singers like this are not of today. Garth Brooks and his sound alike don't have it.

  • My kinda country song they just dont make them like that anymore. And that wonderful piano.

    Thank you for sharing

  • one on my top 10 list

  • So good!

  • Yep, still melts my butter!!!!

  • MINE TOO!

  • is there a way to download these and put on dvd to watch on big screen jeff

  • I think there's a programme called "YouTube Grabber" which is a free download. Haven't tried it so I don't know how successful it is. All these video clips of Marty are priceless and definitely worth having.

  • Youtube downloader is a good programme, can convert to MP3 as well.

  • download realplayer, its free.. then when u watch videos on utube, it will ask if u want to download the clip... hope this helps

  • This has always been my favorite MR song. A true classic!

  • RnB is so different from Rhythm and Blues.

  • A great Marty Robbins number, much better than garbage today(although-there's a few good c and w singers out there. I remember in the mid 60's going to teen Dances in the Bonavista North are of Nfld. and hearing A.Frank Willis do this number very decently. A.Frank has had a decent Musical career mostly out of Toronto but he still does a Newfoundland tour every summer. I don't think he does a lot of country stuff these days-mostly toe tapping Newfoundland music.

  • i remember when marty had a tv show and he was always very funny-i read somewhere that he was a rather moody person--no matter what i cant get enough of begging to you-i never heard his son sing-in liberty, tx. they have an opry house and in 95 or 96 they had a group and one of the singers was lee garner or gardner-if you closed your eyes you would swear it was marty robbins singing-now i cant find this lee fellow-if anybody knows let me know - i heard he is singing somewhere in houston

  • cant watch this without tearing up

  • long gone lonesome blues, moaning the blues and love sick blues he yodels in all of them. a rapid voice break is the same as yodeling.

  • Marty Robbins had a very beautiful voice and not many others could sing like he could, but I never have heard Marty yodel. He has a teardrop voice which is very nice, but he does not yodel.

  • He did Chime Bells on a live performance album around 95. Hr yodeled pretty good too.

Google chime bells by Marty Robbins.

I found a number of hits on it.

I have it in my computer.

    Bob B

  • Thank You. I will see what I can find on that. I never did hear of Chime Bells by him. I do appreciate your comments.

  • The reason I googled it was I wasn't really sure it was Marty.

I've had in my computer jukebox for years.

And some songs you get online are mislabeled.

I think there is a Bear Family recordings in Germany?

Where you can buy old records. They were one of the listings.

    Bob B

  • Nice comment Larry.

The Billboard review said 'Another great Marty Robbins ballad side. The lyric has solid impact and Marty's yodel across the board.' Personally, I don't think Marty ever yodelled on any record. He sang falsetto , but never yodelled like say Slim Whitman, Frank Ifield, Elton Britt or Wilf Carter. The review failed to mention the great flip as well...'Over High Mountain.'

  • Further to what I said previuosly, maybe Marty yodelled in a song called 'Two Gun Daddy.' Yep, I'm sure he sang it Jimmie Rodgers style.

  • This is one of my all time favorites by Marty. Such a beautiful song and melody. I remember as a youngster growing up in our little village when I'd go down to the playground and swing and sing for hours, learning these great songs by my favorite voice in the business. Marty Robbins. Thanks for posting this song friend. Larry

  • I envy you having seen Marty in the 60's wilmaohman. There's not much on e-bay for Ronny Robbins, but you might like to try MusicStack which has a couple of singles.

  • i saw marty in san diego around 1965 he was great i would like to fin a copy or copies of his son records ronnie robbins aka marty jr.around 1970-1975

  • my biggest regret in life is that i never saw this man sing live. what a unique and wonderful singer old marty was, god bless him.

  • I was priviledged to hear Marty sing & perform this song! in person on stage in Auckland New Zealand 1964. The memories of this beautiful man those many years ago, will never cease my mind. Oh! what a night it was, the "Land of the Long White Cloud" displayed all it's splendor and beauty. A memory I will always cherish. I have been waiting for this song, to show on youtube. Thank you for posting this song.

  • I'm glad that there are more young people who like the sound and voice of Marty Robbins.Even my own childern Ilona and Rick like's to listen to the wonderful songs of this great man.And I hope that at the time when I lay my self to rest my kids will keep the flame of this music burning by playing it.I'm sure they will.Your dad and I have a very good feeling about music, and this is very good music.Greetings from Holland the Netherlands

  • A voice and a style both timeless, and I can tell cause I'm only nineteen years of age. I got hooked on Marty's music years ago, being raised by a father who enjoys his music like no other. And now, yet another perfect and flawless performance and a wonderful song I adore.

Thank you for all the posting, it brings me and my father a lot of joy by just watching and listening to it.

  • This "Bigging to you" is one of love most.

Your Marty as in the explanation it isn't

possible to sing this song. (Another extreme)
